Vintage Maritime Canadian TV at its best!
Core childhood memory umlocked
Which one is jp
The one in the blue dress….sitting by the sink
JP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is this the same "The Himalayan Mountain Boys" that would play in the Memorial Union, University of Wisconsin, late 1970's - 1980's?
This is a local group from Brandon Manitoba that played during the 1980’s and 90’s. The video is from the Brandon Folk Festival.
Wow, is that Jean Marc singing, love it
I miss my Uncle Pete loved talking bluegrass as we were both huge Jimmy Martin fans
Amazing!
Sure miss this program. JP got his first exposure there as well as so many other wonderful groups. Would take this type of programming over all the garbage filling the airways today.
Gord and the crew! Bang on crew!!!
I performed on that show possibly 25/30 years ago with a wonderful Acadian band from Clare N.S., called Split Rock Falls. We had a great time with the UHT gang and still view the show quite often. I watched Gord play at Carlisle BG fest in Ontario with the Dixie Flyers soooo long ago, when he had hair everywhere haha. He sure cleaned up well for his show in Halifax...I recognize your name from somewhere...I'm Mark Terry, raised in the Richmond Hill, Ont. area many moons ago...have we crossed paths some time? I'm residing in Peterboro now and still beatin' the BG with a crew these days...
Nice!
I played on that great show in the early 80s with Split Rock Falls from Clare. And a good time was had by all...
Awesome! There are some faces I haven't seen in ages!!
Great job from Ray Legere as well, wow!
That’s Ray Legere????? Wow
wow, what a great clip! Thanks a lot for this, great to see JP Cormier there!
Mr Walter Jakeman on bass.
Mountain meadow bluegrass band are really good.....mandolin player is quite the picker.....anyone know where they are today?
I went to some tapings of this show when I lived in Halifax. They pulled people from the audience to hang out in the background of the set, which I did a couple times. First time surprised me that this was a set and not a real kitchen, LOL. My brother introduced me to Bill Doucette and it was the start of my becoming a bluegrass musician once I got past my rock days. The cast of this show were just as friendly in real life as they were on camera. Haven't seen an episode in a long time. Brings back memories, thanks.
That’s interesting. Thanks for sharing your story.
Since I was a kid Ive wondered if that was a real kitchen.....finally some closure.....thanks
Jean marc Doiron one of the best bluegrass singers in Canada. Ray Legere one of the best on the fiddle in the world.
Thanks for identifying Jean Marc. Do you know the name of the bass player and last name of "Roger" the banjo player in Mountain Meadow Bluegrass?
@@Mandotoban Lee Alward is the bass player, banjo is Roger lantang I believe.
Ray Legere is a wicked Mandolin player too.
This was one of the very best all around family centered show on TV!!! Big John has become one of the greatest instrumentalists in the world! And he is Nova Scotia's treasure.
He is well respected in the States as well ,He has a amazing story
@@joemcgraw5529 We are very proud of Big John!!! Thanks Joe!!!
Would you have any footage with the Boutilier brothers and also the Birchmountain bluegrass band?
No I don't have either of those. I would love to see them though.
love it
Cool song 👍
wow
Holy smokes JP is young here....
i guess Im kinda randomly asking but does anybody know a good website to stream new tv shows online?
Thank you for posting this I showed my dad and had tears seeing his brother play the banjo Thank you again Darren Antonation Lonesome Pete’s nephew
Darren Antonation Nice to hear that, Darren. We had lots of fun with Pete and we all sure miss him. Pete had a huge influence on us and we all still play bluegrass. All the best to you and your family. Terry
Here is a feature on Pete, just in case you missed it. ua-cam.com/video/J9KJxjq8SgM/v-deo.html
Sounds great fellas. My father was Robert Whitstine aka (Bob Whitstein) and I think that he would've loved to hear your cover of one of his many songs. He passed away when I was just 7 years old but, I'm glad to see someone sing one of his songs. He was the greatest man I ever knew to this day. My Uncle Charles Whitstine lives right beside me in Grant Parish and I will have to show him. Good job guys!
Kyle Whitstine Thanks for the kind words Kyle. We still enjoy playing that song. Pass along our good wishes to your Uncle. Your father and uncle had great harmony. I still listen to their Rose of My Heart album lots. Terry
I sure will. I wouldn't mind hearing a few more haha.
Too cool!
That guitar picker with the hat on is sure good lookin'.
I'm lovin' it!
The mandolin player looks quite young and cherubic, and your hats are ACE!
Love you guys!
Wow, this brings back some memories.
Nothing better than family harmonies....being talented makes it even better. Nice work!
Sounds great guys!
Oh my, that was quite a weekend wasn't it.
Papa Lloyd is the best!
Nice stuff boys!
