    Fascinating video, many thanks. The Drayton Park area is very interesting. Question, why do they pull up existing railway track? The scrap value surely can't be worth the labour involved, and chances are one day it will have to be put back. Only criticism, some ambient train audio would be better than music. It wouldn't even have to match!

    • @martinking7390
      @martinking7390 Рік тому

      I can only think either the track is damaged or they know it’s highly unlikely to ever be used, or they may want to use that area to re route track. I just chose any old music to cover the audio on the recording.

      @robertbutlin3708 3 роки тому

      I think so.

    • @Keithbarber
      @Keithbarber 3 роки тому

      Yes it is - 313 electrics took over from november 1976 and great northern suburban services into London Broad Street withdrawn Broad street finally closed in 1986 when services to Richmond were diverted to north woolwich and watford services diverted to neighbouring London liverpool street, but withdrawn in 1992 Broad street station was razed to the ground but services use the route via dalston junction as far as great eastern street and then curve over to shoreditch high street station before diving down onto the former east london line So theoretically at least, services COULD be reinstated onto the canonbury curve, but I am unaware of any proposals or plans to do so, and remains in place for freight workings only

    • @Keithbarber
      @Keithbarber 3 роки тому

      And I have also learnt that some great northern services used to run to moorgate via the kings cross (york way) platforms and use tunnels either side of the station to reach farringdon barbican and moorgate - when direct services to moorgate via the city branch, these services were also withdrawn, leaving just the services to Midland main line which ran another 33 years There are of course a few people who think these services should still run......

How do you get from Euston up the ECML I wondered????????. Well simple, train goes out to Wembly towing a class 90. Lead loco upcoupled, train heading on the up to Euston, through Primrose Hill tunnel then onto th NLR via Camden dropping down to Belle isle and Copenhagen tunnel. I never realised there even was a connection between the NLR and the ECML. I had to watch as we went through Hornsey, a place I clearly remember steam at.
