    "How long has R32 been around? Daikin was the first to introduce air-conditioning and heat pump technology utilizing the refrigerant R-32, starting in Japan in November 2012." what has the industry been using for A2L compliant tools for the last 12 years???

    Pretty soon people won't be able to afford AC, we will have to go back to the bucket of ice and a fan... California "the shithole state" and our Gov have totally screwed up, something so simple... can you tell I am a R22 fan.... o-ya, I did this kind of work for over 30 years, a lot of commercial stuff, Train big chillers.... when people would ask me what I did for work I would tell them, "I make ice water".... lol

    An important point was missed. The GWP effect is when there is a LEAK! not while it's in the system. When & IF it leaks when there is a fire, it will propagate the fire!!! Also, very important flammable A2L (R32 or R454B) might and could INTERNALY explode. This is true if the vacuum process (must be higher than R410A an A1 class non-flammable, non-explosive class) is not perfect (presence of moisture/oxygen) as when compressed the temperature could reach the lubricating OIL ignition temperature, and in the presence of flammable refrigerant (any A2, A2L or worse A3) the oil might ignite the flammable refrigerants! This possibility will not exist if A1 class non-flammable refrigerants are present. Neil Afram Director of Space Air Ltd. distributor of AC & Heat Pumps since 1980.

    I already have my A2L license, but it sounds like nothing is written in stone yet. They will wait until someone gets hurt or something burns down before they will start adding to the do's and don'ts. Anyway, for those that does not know, an A2L license also includes A3 refrigerants, High flammability Refrigerants, 600, 600A and R290 (butane, Isobutane and Propane )

    • @Harry1s

      It depends how bad the valves are. Reversing valves need a proper differential of pressure to move as well as a good coil. A compressor with really bad valves/low differential pressure might not move the valve.

    Why would they not just go from R22 to R32. We swapped to 410A which is half R32 and cut it to make it less Flammable. Now let’s phase everyone’s new systems out again, charge them thousands for refrigerants till they buy new systems, and we’ll make it more flammable to stop Climate Change.

  • @Harry1s
    @Harry1s 7 місяців тому

    I think it is important to add that reversing valves require two things in order to switch its flow - A properly functioning coil and the proper difference of pressure from low to high pressure. Therefore a properly functioning compressor and the correct freon charge is required to properly diagnose a reversing valve. A reversing valve that is not fully switching can be a compressor killer because it can add high pressure/temperature gas right into the suction of the compressor.

    • @markheffner348
      @markheffner348 2 місяці тому

      That's a fair point. Improper charge could also be a problem. There is much more to really understand all the points of a working reversing valve.

    • @Harry1s
      @Harry1s 2 місяці тому

      @@markheffner348 I agree

  • @Harry1s
    @Harry1s 7 місяців тому

    Corrections - The outdoor coil is actually the evaporator in the heat mode. The accumulator doesn't return oil to the compressor. It helps prevent liquid freon from entering the compressor, so the liquid freon doesn't wash out the oil in the compressor while it is operating. The purpose of the crankcase heater is to help boil off liquid freon in the compressor sump area. That's why it's critical the compressor be off for 5 or more mins before coming back on. This gives the crankcase heater enough time to boil off any liquid freon while in the off cycle.

    Just an FYI , on your first braze you can still use nitrogen (I noticed you did not ). All you need to do is set up your braze joints like you did , remove Schrader stem , set your nitrogen hose in the large open end of the pipe (using a piece of tape if you like) and flow the nitrogen in while you’re brazing. I’m surprised you didn’t use the Victor braze and purge regulator you all sell there at Johnstone (I love it ,best system for flowing nitrogen and I bought it at my local Johnstone supplier here in Fenton Mo.).

    I learned to braze way back in my freshman year in high school. I'm 58 now and own my own residential appliance repair business. I'm not sure what "your" qualifications are, but I have to point out a number of mistakes. Way too high of gas pressure. If it sounds like a jet engine and you're not using a rose bud or a cutting torch, it's way to high. You are also keeping the heat on way way too long. All that darkening we see on the outside is also on the inside. You need to concentrate your heat to a point and work more quickly. Looking at your piece after you're done and especially after cooling it (for no reason), it looks terrible. You should be embarrassed being a representative of Johnstone. Sorry, but I'm just being honest and it irritates me when people like you appear to be professionals and our younger techs don't know any better.
