33035 starting up for the first time in 2011

33035 is fired up for the first time in 2011 on Sunday 30th January. After firing 035 up for the first time in the new year, due to a small technical hitch we had to shut the 33 back down. But 5 minutes later it was time for Take 2 and the Crompton burst into life again! The baby Sulzer soon settled down to a nice tick over and was left running for about 45 minutes.

33035 out on test during November after receiving engine repairs. Seen here running up and down the Branch at Barrow Hill on a cold morning! After a number of runs it was decided that all was well and it was a PASS!

Fab sound ❤️
Beautiful sounding loco ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sounds great, like the sulzer in line eight cylinders should do. A very good choice and performer for their type. Nice one 🙂👍
As always, fabulous to hear the sulzer straight 8 engine and it's unique bleating exhaust note.
I assume this was filmed at Barrow Hill. Was a great location for heritage diesels, hope it still is (has been 5 years since my last visit)
Oh that’s a fantastic sound of the start up from the 56 loco

Mans loco ..
I like the nwse door
i mean, the driver's loving it!!
Is it possible to own a Diesel but let the relevant Preservation Society keep it and maintain it for their own profit anybody ?
Yes, I think that is quite common. Many locos on preserved railways are actually owned by private preservation groups.
Greta isn't going to like this.....but I do!
I don't think she'd care - she probably has little interest in the miniscule emissions of heritage/preservation railways, and is more concerned by big polluters/emitters. But sure, why not call out a young woman who is trying to make a difference? Big of you.
Absolutely Pathetic.. No Thrash
Will always think of John Frood aka The Postman from Exeter when I see footage of ‘35. He would have been very impressed of its current condition...
Nice lots of clag
Hi, where is this fabulous preservation railway and roundhouse please?
Barrow hill near chesterfield, Derbyshire
Watched it twice. I’ll probably watch twice more tomorrow
Back in 1977 we got one of the Romanian 56s for driver training at saltley diesel depot. Scary to see locos I drove already being preserved, seems only like yesterday I drove these.
Found out 1 of the 69s was made in Romania; a Romanian lady I met at a community group in Chesterfield was surprised I'd heard of Electroputere...
Greta thunberg wouldn’t be happy

Who gives a F F the class 56 is an awesome sounding loco.
What an idiot didn't install some heating for engine and fuel tanks :/
Apparently Progress rail of Longport are planning on re-engining some 10 class 56 locomotives for GB railfreight and turning them into a new locomotive class called the class 69. GB railfreight have said doing yjs is cheaper then buying new locomotives en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_69
56s are brilliant locos I love the the drone of the fan as it erupts into life
Spoooooon
All it needed was a few big boom's & some fire
Sulzer was my favorite, I stopped one from overspeeding at OOC in 1965.
Can see the vacuum brake hose, reminds me of my "proportional valve" lessons, long time ago in the 60's great days !!
Bloody loves it doesn't he
Who owes who a fiver then
Ah.... All the best stuff comes from Smethwick! Hand built by West Bromwich Albion supporters. Just like the original class 47; D0260 LION.
LION nearly became the first Class 47, if you read my book Class 47 50 Years of Locomotive History the full story is in there.
I’ll do that.
Veg!!!!!!!!!!
A class 56, The most unreliable train in britian
It isn't a 'train'. What a crap comment.
Well he is a videogamer :O
@@peterowbottom1110 trains locomotive same thing
@@cidertom5140 Except it isn't.
Before approx 40seconds: myself on a monday morning before coffee. After approx 40 seconds: after coffee.
See comment from the Hoff (4years ago) The driver is a well known Scottish gentleman, and was probably naked so that he didn't have to carry his WALLET. He has also been known to hang around with another well known Yorkshireman, and trust me, when the 2 of them get together, you don't know the meaning of the word TIGHT !!!
what sort of engine did these use? I saw one the other day up close and when it was idling it didn't sound like either a sulzer or an ee unit
16RK3CT Ruston Paxman
thanks for the reply and i see they were built as recently as 1984

Great video mate :)
Sounds when a Ge product starts
What did that guy in the cab say
+Kembrek 83 oh ok thx
+Kembrek 83 also what the diesels model I'm now way an expert on European railroads
+Kembrek 83 you know when they were built
+Kembrek 83 oh now I get it thx
33s aren't baby sulzers?
Will Salmon No, the baby Sulzers have a straight 6 which gave room inside for a steam heat generator. The 33s have a straight 8 and electric train heat.
That Swiss 2 stroke sound...
EchoAlphaRomeo 4 stroke surely!

what engine has she got is it the english electric v12?
+GWLAD Nope, it's a Sulzer 8LDA, 8 cylinder inline engine.
Sounds like a prat laughing but the class 56 sounded amazing
I agree because class 56 was is living
this loco engine has a good maitenance , at the first stsrt, it worked only in two cylinders, but inmediatly all the cyliders began to work ,with a little clag. this engine may have the compression equal in all cylinders.
I love the 'elbow out of the window' bit! Is he a taxi driver? - "Yes Guvnah, where yer want to go?"
Alright! It's not that funny.
A really good start up - no struggling here !!!!!
Is there no DMH in a 33? Strange
+TheOrgano its a foot pedal as on a class 73
A class 56 in preservation? That´s surprising me. Uh... why not.
+Edith of Hanover There not actually that bad. If you treat them right they can produce a really meaty engine sound :)
