RAMBA Mountain Bike Trails | Ishpeming & Negaunee MI
#RAMBAtrails #Ishpeming #Negaunee #EpicLoop
This was my first time exploring a few of the many RAMBA mountain bike trails near Ishpeming and Negaunee, MI. Luckily, I have friends (Kristi & Erik) who agreed to give Anthony and I a personal tour. They showed us some of the highlights and provided some history of the trails and area.
RAMBA (Range Area Mountain Bike Association) trails are known for their hand built “rake and ride” style with lots of technical elements, beautiful views, and sometimes eerie surroundings. Trail levels run from Green to Double Black Diamond. We mainly stayed on the Blue level trails for an easy day first visit.
These trails fall right between the towns of Ishpeming and Negaunee, consisting of connector two track, and technical single track. Some trails weave around the abandoned Old Negaunee city with only sidewalks, staircases, and foundation walls remaining making for a very interesting ride.
The trails are built and maintained by R.A.M.B.A. To learn more about the organization click below

About Ishpeming | Negaunee Area:
While this video covers a small fraction of the trails, Ishpeming also is proudly known for its skiing history. The city is the birthplace of organized skiing, with the National Ski Association founded in the city on February 21, 1905. Both town’s Iron Ore mining lineage (dating back to the 1800’s) is evident as with historical markers, pathways, and old equipment on display.

Pere Marquette State Forest Mountain Bike Trails | Lost Lake and WASA trails. Between Frankfort and Traverse City are many trails I had never ridden, so last September Karen, Todd and I decided to explore the trails near Lake Ann, MI. Most of these trails are old scchool trails within the Pere Marquette State Forrest, with lots of twists, turns, and rolling hills. Seems to get very little traff...

Checking out the Munising BAy Mountain Bike Park for the first time. While in Marquette this past fall I wanted to explore some new (to me) trails, one of the trails I usually pass by is the “Munising Mountain Bike Park” almost right downtown Munising. Usually, I drive by because I am either in a hurry to get to Marquette after a 7 hr drive, or I don’t want to drive home 7 hrs after getting all...

Exploring the Powell Mountain Bike Trails near Big Bay Michigan. While in Marquette this past fall I wanted to explore some new (to me) trails, one of the bike shop employees suggested to check out Powell Mtb trails built by the NTN (Near Big Bay MI.). Being our first time here we decided to just ride a lap recon and then do a second lap, but at 90-degree temps we were both cooked after 1 full ...

#legacymtbtrail #ridecannondale #mcmba The Township of Northville, Northville Parks & Recreation, and the MCMBA recently re-opened the Legacy Park MTB trails (Bell Branch trails). The trails had a complete professionally built facelift over the summer, moving from a narrow, featureless, flat trail to a fun flow trail. The park rests on the closed Northville Psychiatric hospital grounds, which r...
Mountain Biking Bruno’s Run | Munising, MI.

Bruno's Run MTB trail. On a last-minute trip to the U.P. a few of us decided to check out Bruno’s Run, a trail I have always heard about, but never had time to ride. We parked in the Pete’s Lake campground public lot and hit this trail in a clockwise direction. There was an outhouse where we parked, but I didn’t see any water. The trail is old school loamy pine straw covered trail, with punchy ...
Maybury Mountain Bike Trail | Northville, MI

Maybury is one of the oldest trails in Southeast Michigan. The entire park is on the grounds of what was once the Maybury Tuberculosis Sanatorium, you can still find old stone foundations, walls, historical markers, and evidence of the past if you look carefully. You might even find old cars in the woods if you are lucky. This park boasts the highest elevation in Wayne County. History: In the M...

Hines Drive | Lakeview Mountain Bike Trail
😅 Just saw this. One of my most favorite trails in SE Michigan all year long. The go to trail if the Poto was a mud pit . Go where you want , no rules , no map just ride. To bad it is now only half of what it used to be but glad there is something left. Yes. You make your own route out there. Big part of the fun.
Yes sir, great trail for when others are in poor condition. The mcmba is doing a lot and has plans to recoup some of what was lost.
an annual favorite...pick some up this season
Nice job with that Mike, Kristi, Erik and Anthony! Love those trails!
Thanks Carl
Really cool edit!
@@SerhiyMTB thanks, I’ve been putting off some editing until it got cold😉
One of the only Surly Brewing beer I have had...all have been good though.
Great video. It makes me want to grab a beer and head out to nature.
Ty for the video!! Found out we have a fam. reunion in the area next summer. Excited to ride here :)
There are slightly more advanced trails across the road from Swallow tail as well. Under constuction and some completed already. Enjoy
@@SherpaVision Thanks! I saw some activities on Trailforks but no listed trails yet. Wondering what that was about.
Good music!
Thanks, I try to match music feel with the ride
Looks like a blast Great job ! Definitely need to check it out sometime
👀
Splain pls
Where is this? I'm having trouble googling it. Looks like a blast!
@@kostak2171 Michigan’s upper peninsula. Near big bay. There are links to trailforks and open street maps in the description if it helps.
Awesome 👌
Thank you
This trail is gonna be gorgeous when the leaves change
I think it will be a good winter bike trail too. 😉
fun little trail............I'm finally able to properly do the last two big jumps!
yea the short length makes this easy to session and get better...by the 3rd lap I had nailed some of the tighter turns, and jumps too.
As you guys know, "If you build it they will come." Great ! Alex Stewart remarked during the DTE build that building on flat was harder then building on elevation . Builder did good.
Yes sir. And they found a good balance for this park, which has very little elevation.
Is this every year?
Hopefully, 2024 was the first ever at Boyne Mt.
@@SherpaVisionI hope so it's so beautiful
I've heard terrible stories from someone i know that used to work with them. He's not the only one either. So fug them
And now that can't bust you for weed in Ohio
What is your favorite IPA?
What is your favorite places to go after riding Proud Lake?
As of August 2024, this trail is no longer around. This video is just for historical context. Post up your thoughts and other favorite trails in Marquette.
Another great video Mike. Always love the editing to the good parts, and the unique music bed.
Thanks Dave, I kind of messed up the color grading, I need to get better at that part of editing.
Not any more,,,,, Sad face.
W music choice
Looks doable. I need a new bike with better tires, but I'll take my old Huffy out there and give it a try.
"Run what you brung" is our saying...There is no shame walking parts until they are confident or skill level progresses. Have fun, be safe.
id get killed on that
Nice to see Grubers is still as gnarly and overgrown as it has always been. I imagined it was not well kept because it was not popular with the roadie to MTB converts. We used to do regular night rides on that trail. It was great! The trail made it seem like you were doing 1000mph when going 5mph. The most fun I've had on a trail, ever.
I agree we need tough trails too. We are pretty lucky around SE michigan to have many trails, and a variety to choose from.
Alex Stewart and Spectrum Designs. 😉
Alex's team does some great work. I hope to have more Palmer woods vids soon of the stuff not on trail forks yet.
Nice video. It gave me a good glimpse of what the bridge experience would be like.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice. I was wondering. I would like a filled flask this year. ha
Filling is extra LOL
Such an awesome program! I'm on the wrong side of town for the MCMBA trails though...but thank you all for the work you do for the trails we enjoy on the occasional race or road trip!
Glad you (and others) are enjoying the trails, that's really why we all do it

copy n paste I posted them all in the comments as well. But it only seems to work when viewed a phone.
Only hiked this trail, buddy of mine gave me a new cheap mountain bike so I'm gonna go for it this weekend
This one is next on my list.
I hear that Loop 3 has been extended as well, but I haven't had a chance to ride it yet.
Rode this trail today. It was a fun one. It does keep you on toes. Felt like there was more of an uphill than it was downhill.
It’s more that when I was trail coordinator we built the trail to require effort (even small amounts) on every hill…this trail is over 30 years old, and in 2003 we built much of what is there now. Once you get familiar there are places to recover speed from downhills. Glad you had fun
It does seem like a nice flowy trail. Can't wait to hit this one.
In the area proud lake, stony creek and dte are the best “flow” trails. Maybury has is old school Michigan xc trail. Some flow once you find the rhythm to it, and a few spots that are meant to be slower techy stuff.
Thank you for uploading this video. Moved from Utah and just started to shred Michigan trails. Will hit this trail tomorrow.
hope your enjoying the variety of trails around here. It's not Utah, but our community is pretty dedicated about the trails. I'd suggested looking up the MCMBA.org, CRAMBA.org and PotoMBA.org for more about local trail advocacy, events, and trail developments.
I love this trail! Cool video
Thanks Serhiy, just getting back to making riding vids. New camera to figure out yet. New bike on the way too.
Looks like a nice speed. What was the lap time maybe 30 minutes?
No…not this time, we were having fun. Stopped a few times. But when I work I’m usually low 30’s. It was too cold and too early season to push it. 😉
can't believe we all rode rigid mtb's on that trail back then.....
It was a bit less chunky back then...but 26" 1.95 tires on rigid bike with pedal cages.
Awesome ride ❤
Thanks
Watch out for snakes sunning them in early spring
Great video and editing Mike! And as always great tune to accompany it.
Thank you, David, I hope to get back making more trail vids this year... I need to find more music, though. LOL.
so glad they built up that last berm (w the tree sticking out of it) - I almost went thru that berm last year! Hope they add in some side-hit jumps for 2024!
There is definitely room for a few small kickers on Loop 4 along the fast sections, but the trail is still great fun as is.
I finally got a chance to enjoy this trail with an early start to our riding season
Cheers to good beers we just subscribed after your beer review found us. We love to brew beer and grow some hops make wine and different meads and others on our channel . Stay thirsty friend and review good beer.
Cheers, and thanks for commenting. I do these mainly to entertain myself (which I think is obvious LOL). I am glad others enjoy watching my silly beer hiking videos.
When I worked in Flint and bought my first MTB, a co-worker took me here. I was 22 and had no idea what was in store for me. Being 22 helped. Need to try it again at 48.
LOL, C'mon we are all older now, just means we have better handling skills, and don't care if we have to walk anything.
Just rode that on my commuter bike lol
Cool, most of these trails are not too tough, but still fun having them so close to home.
"You're My New Favorite" ...Till the next beer 😜
