Mountain Biking Bruno’s Run | Munising, MI.
#BrunosRun #mountainbiking #ridecannondale
During a last-minute trip to the U.P. a few of us decided to check out Bruno’s Run, a trail I have always heard about, but never had time to ride. We parked in the Pete’s Lake campground public lot and hit this trail in a clockwise direction. There was an outhouse where we parked, but I didn’t see any water. The trail is old school loamy pine straw covered trail, with punchy little climbs, scenic views, lined with ferns and pine trees.
There are several bridges to cross, some are curved or change direction so be careful if its wet they may be slippery. With the Loam conditions there is almost constant pedaling, kind of like riding a carpet. There re almost no rocks or roots to worry about from a technical aspect, but you still need to be aware of deadfall near the tread.
* Note this is a 2-Way trail, We rode it in the "Clockwise" direction. Please ride in control and stay alert for users.
Thank you to the volunteers and donors to the Munising Bay Trail Network organization who continue to build and maintain this wide range of trails. To learn more, donate, or volunteer to make these trails better please visit their website.

Maybury Mountain Bike Trail | Northville, MI
Переглядів 9244 місяці тому
Maybury is one of the oldest trails in Southeast Michigan. The entire park is on the grounds of what was once the Maybury Tuberculosis Sanatorium, you can still find old stone foundations, walls, historical markers, and evidence of the past if you look carefully. You might even find old cars in the woods if you are lucky. This park boasts the highest elevation in Wayne County. History: In the M...

Is this every year?
Hopefully, 2024 was the first ever at Boyne Mt.
@@SherpaVisionI hope so it's so beautiful
I've heard terrible stories from someone i know that used to work with them. He's not the only one either. So fug them
And now that can't bust you for weed in Ohio
What is your favorite IPA?
What is your favorite places to go after riding Proud Lake?
As of August 2024, this trail is no longer around. This video is just for historical context. Post up your thoughts and other favorite trails in Marquette.
Another great video Mike. Always love the editing to the good parts, and the unique music bed.
Thanks Dave, I kind of messed up the color grading, I need to get better at that part of editing.
Not any more,,,,, Sad face.
W music choice
Looks doable. I need a new bike with better tires, but I'll take my old Huffy out there and give it a try.
id get killed on that
Nice to see Grubers is still as gnarly and overgrown as it has always been. I imagined it was not well kept because it was not popular with the roadie to MTB converts. We used to do regular night rides on that trail. It was great! The trail made it seem like you were doing 1000mph when going 5mph. The most fun I've had on a trail, ever.
Alex Stewart and Spectrum Designs. 😉
Nice video. It gave me a good glimpse of what the bridge experience would be like.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice. I was wondering. I would like a filled flask this year. ha
Such an awesome program! I'm on the wrong side of town for the MCMBA trails though...but thank you all for the work you do for the trails we enjoy on the occasional race or road trip!

copy n paste I posted them all in the comments as well. But it only seems to work when viewed a phone.
Only hiked this trail, buddy of mine gave me a new cheap mountain bike so I'm gonna go for it this weekend
This one is next on my list.
I hear that Loop 3 has been extended as well, but I haven't had a chance to ride it yet.
Rode this trail today. It was a fun one. It does keep you on toes. Felt like there was more of an uphill than it was downhill.
It’s more that when I was trail coordinator we built the trail to require effort (even small amounts) on every hill…this trail is over 30 years old, and in 2003 we built much of what is there now. Once you get familiar there are places to recover speed from downhills. Glad you had fun
It does seem like a nice flowy trail. Can't wait to hit this one.
In the area proud lake, stony creek and dte are the best “flow” trails. Maybury has is old school Michigan xc trail. Some flow once you find the rhythm to it, and a few spots that are meant to be slower techy stuff.
Thank you for uploading this video. Moved from Utah and just started to shred Michigan trails. Will hit this trail tomorrow.
I love this trail! Cool video
Thanks Serhiy, just getting back to making riding vids. New camera to figure out yet. New bike on the way too.
Looks like a nice speed. What was the lap time maybe 30 minutes?
No…not this time, we were having fun. Stopped a few times. But when I work I’m usually low 30’s. It was too cold and too early season to push it. 😉
can't believe we all rode rigid mtb's on that trail back then.....
It was a bit less chunky back then...but 26" 1.95 tires on rigid bike with pedal cages.
Awesome ride ❤
Thanks
Watch out for snakes sunning them in early spring
Great video and editing Mike! And as always great tune to accompany it.
Thank you, David, I hope to get back making more trail vids this year... I need to find more music, though. LOL.
so glad they built up that last berm (w the tree sticking out of it) - I almost went thru that berm last year! Hope they add in some side-hit jumps for 2024!
There is definitely room for a few small kickers on Loop 4 along the fast sections, but the trail is still great fun as is.
I finally got a chance to enjoy this trail with an early start to our riding season
Cheers to good beers we just subscribed after your beer review found us. We love to brew beer and grow some hops make wine and different meads and others on our channel . Stay thirsty friend and review good beer.
Cheers, and thanks for commenting. I do these mainly to entertain myself (which I think is obvious LOL). I am glad others enjoy watching my silly beer hiking videos.
When I worked in Flint and bought my first MTB, a co-worker took me here. I was 22 and had no idea what was in store for me. Being 22 helped. Need to try it again at 48.
LOL, C'mon we are all older now, just means we have better handling skills, and don't care if we have to walk anything.
Just rode that on my commuter bike lol
Cool, most of these trails are not too tough, but still fun having them so close to home.
"You're My New Favorite" ...Till the next beer 😜
Love it!!
Glad you like it!
Ngl looks fire
It was very interesting for sure, I like trying new beers all the time.
LOL. This was the only time I attempted 3 beer reviews in 1 hike, and it was starting to show.

I’m in Wayne but thought about my first bike as an adult. I want to go on a trail but what’s good for starters?
Hines trails (Lakeview, Riverview, Levan Knoll, Oak Grove, 3-Fires and T47) are all very close good starter trails. ua-cam.com/video/ABCeJESDef4/v-deo.html If you want to drive and more flowy trails, with some berms and jumps. DTE, Proud Lake and Stony Creek. ua-cam.com/video/1zHrF5NVzW0/v-deo.html More traditional mtb trails and sightly harder than Hines, Novi Tree farm, Hickory Glenn, or Maybury state park. Or even south in Ohio is Oak Openings. ua-cam.com/video/tRyVeDVEJpg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/5aXpOxUPQLI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/qtdn3ZPcDCA/v-deo.html When looking at trails on apps like trailforks, not the color usually designates the technical difficulty. Hope this helps, my playlist of Southeast Michigan has most of the trails captured with info in the description.
Thanks a mill. How about a good bike for starters...especially if you haven't succeeded in bike training as a child?@@SherpaVision
@@Doggieworld3Show There are 3 things to consider... handling skill, strength, or endurance. Everyone has strengths, finding a bike that helps take care of the other 2 is helpful when starting. Some people are already fit/in shape, others have good handling skills. But for around SE Michigan, tires size should be 29er, for most trails around here. * If you have good handling (technical trail) skills, then skinnier tires are fine. * If you think climbs will be tough, a bike with 11 or 12 speed drivetrain. The bigger the rear cassette range, the better for shifting in every situation. * If handing is 60% or lower in the skill, and full suspension is not in the budget? A 29+ tire bike would be good. Larger tires give you more control, soften up the ride, but also require a little more effort on climbs or sprints. ** Fat bikes (26x4 or 27.5X4 or above tires) will allow you to ride in the snow/sand very well. But, stock fat bikes require more pedaling and sometimes handling effort will be riding. The bigger tires are great for control/traction on dirt, and float on the snow. But also have far more "rotational mass" that requires more leg strength. Hope this helps, I personally ride Cannondale brand bikes. Trek/Specialized/Giant are other main brands. Fat bikes tend to be from second tier brands (Salsa, Otso, Borealis, canyon for example) Hope this helps, I may end up making a vide for this excellent question 🤔
Sorry... This beer is a little Punk Rock and Not at all safe for work (NSFW)

@@SherpaVision Awesome !! Thanks 👍🏻
Extra trail grip
Just did Badlands yesterday. It's a riot! It's more like an area than a trail system as much of it is wide open. Lots of places to explore. It stays remarkably dry as the area drains well & much is either pea gravel or sand. Love it! Will be even better with snow!
When I was there, we witnessed an incredible starling murmuration. We stopped riding & watched in complete amazement. Unforgettable. 🤯😀
Kind of old school "make your own adventure" with purple flags to suggest the right trails.
“ choose your own adventure”
This place is so much fun ! We went here after riding at Crystal Mountain bike in the beginning of the year and actually had more fun at Palmer woods 😅
Its fun, but you must like climbing to enjoy to the fullest.
Lmfao 😂
Hey, what's with all the paint on the trail these days. Pink and white markings. This section looks to be in jeopardy.
Not sure about any "Paint", I'll have to look closer at the trail. I have seen ribbons on trees and there is a natural remediation project happening currently in this area (Wayne Co driven project). Unfortunately I do expect to loose a little bit of the trail we built in 2020, when they move the paved path up near the road. But I am hoping when they are done, we will have potential for more trail in that area.
You're at Riverview aren't you ?!? 😅
Yup...BTW Let me know next time you are around. I may have an extra MCMBA pint glass for you
Surprise it didn’t taste like Faygo…LOL…
That's my next beer hike I need to do - the "Juggalo" IPA from Supernatural @@williamlebron9873
I just hit this trail today. It was my first time actually mountain biking, and I freaking loved it.
That's great, I'm looking forward to heading back there next spring to explore more of the Black trails myself.
I had the privilege of working on Merrel before it was opened . Rick Plite invited me over so I could meet Alex Stewart of Spectrum Designs who was the pro trail builder working on Merrel. Rick knew I was big on mechanized trail building as I was working Lutton when the WMMBA was getting into the concept. First saw the potential while working and attending an IMBA trail school at the Arcadia Trail. If you know how Alex builds trail, you will know what trails he built that you find yourself riding. All pro builders have a build signature.
Hey Greg, Its great to have been around long enough to see the evolution of trail building. Even around SE Michigan where I know you have put in a ton of time. From the hand built, tight, techy fads of the 90's to the modern flow trails today, I find myself falling in the middle with a mix of both when I lay out a trail now.
@@SherpaVision one of the concepts I found out working both types of layouts is that with a machine built trail you can pretty much move the line pretty much anyplace. Alex pushed that as far as he was allowed by the people he had to answer to during the build. If it wasn't for the DNR the DTE Foundation Trail would be a hell of a lot more bike parkey.😂
