Good video man, the watermelons were a order i did. I had a 77 cube order. I threw the watermelons on one pallet and built the rest. It was good for me as a selector and the loader. The long cases order was mine. I tend to run them the length of my pallet or go up with them

Only like 10 out of 60 guys in my warehouse can actually hit their number. The funny thing is that if they made it a bit easier to hit that number the guys would probably feel more motivated to even try. Most guys have given up on it and don’t even try anymore and it makes the days just that much longer. And you’re right 100% right, they’ve lost the plot when it comes to safety. Every guys going 150mph all day and I’ve nearly had my head taken off twice and I’ve only been here 6 months. Looking for new work myself because it’s just depressing the way they treat us. And then getting performance write ups when you’re out performing 90% of the team with speed and accuracy… it’s truly sad what these companies are willing to do for numbers.

Thanks for your video Tim. Managers used to see things like you, 25,30,40 years ago, now, it's just about being a brown nose or a yes man. Your company should have made you a manager. Is it possible for you to do a video, just on the vocollect headset and how to get the best use out of it and to get the percentage pick rate and dispell some rumors and if there are any hacks. At my company, nobody in the office can help, the IT guys are just pickers. For example: does Talkman Sleep actual stop the timer or does it just switch the mic off and put it on mute? Should you print your next label job ASAP or wait a while...which gives you more time? Does, Sign Me Off stop the timer or not? Is remembering the location numbers quicker for giving you more percentage, is it best to say the number ASAP or give it a few seconds?I don't know if each company is different but some pickers seem to know it better than others. hope you can do a video just on the vocollect headset and dispell or confirm the workings off it. Thanks.

Good video, man. I feel with a 75 to a 100 cube order. I like building one pallet up and the other is odd boxes . But not many, i dont like the idea of bending over.

When showing the blocks is the top of the example the front of the jack or the back?

In the first pic could you have turned the case at the bottom corner to face the middle? Or would it have been too long

The meat selection i feel like i have down and same for ice cream bunkers but those tricky boxes still force me into wrapping sometimes or touching cases too much. I feel your frustration. I'm a new selector and hate when my pallets are getting tall and now I'm in an aisle with 6/12 pack glass sauces or bulky boxes that do not allow me to see the middle of the pallet.

Only turn big cases facing inwards on the back ?

1. I've never seen so many boxes the same size on one pallet 2. Do you not have three pallets? The warehouse I work in, as a selector you have a triple pallet jack, with your primary (R), secondary (S), and tertiary (T) pallets 3. I don't think I have ever seen a 17 tie. The beginning of the warehouse where I work, things come in an 8 tie or 10 tie, or 3x3 columns that have no tie. At the end, some big boxes come in a 4 or 5 tie. Anything small enough to come in a 17 tie, I would consider a small filler case.

But if everything is automated and nobody is earning, or paying tax, who is buying all the stuff?

Totally agree with the team comments. I will help a newby if they are struggling but really it's every man for themselves.

The way our warehouse is set up the pick path doesn’t make sense to me, you pick little stuff then giant stuff so it’s almost impossible to get a good base then my boss tells me no time is given to rebuild your pallet so I’m at a loss 🤷🏻‍♀️

System change is a big one! Ive been through 4 system changes between 2 companys in 3.5 yrs and i made less money everytime. Also my biggest thing is the inconsistent hours (mostly because of employee retention) last week from sunday-saturday the hrs were 11,14,8,12,13,10,6 hour shifts. there is no way for every shift to be 10 hrs no matter how many times they say they can

You sorta touched on this with the system change but when the drop is lower than expected and they adjust the runs accordingly. You could easily keep the usual few 50 cubes and the occasional 100 cubes runs but they divide it up into smaller runs to stretch out the work. Some days it’s appreciated but if it’s on the back half of your week it is truly irritating. Noting as well the final dock out time at the beginning of the shift. There have been so many times we’ve picked the other shift’s work. Overall, awareness is key in all areas. Don’t get overworked and stick to your system are some of the ways I’ve been able to manage these shortcomings. Great video Tim!
