Good job on mini your video came up to watch as I normally watch anything mini wise as I am self taught I buy these minis all the time and repair them and then mot I find I normally repair the mot failures but then I look at other things to for repair I never repair driveshafts just replace them the drive shafts for these mini r50 have different shaft sizes as the car you have is a face-lift car or a lci car it has the later 5 speed gartrac gearbox the drive shaft you was supplied was for the early type mini or pre lci with the midland gearbox I tip with changing drive shafts if you jack the mini up further you will lose less oil the oil fill for these is at top of gearbox you will need to remove battery box ecu to get to it but you can fill gearbox with a funnel and long attachment any questions just ask I've done bushes top mounts Drop links power steering pumps clutches and with my latest mini r50 engine change

No need to remove subframe to swop out the bushing you deffo did it the hard way but well done anyway

Not quite as simple as the British Original. That would be a two hour job with time for several cuppa's. Everythings so much more difficult on the new German version. But still a doddle once the fronts off.

I use kroil instead of WD40.

Mindless design created a lot of work. BTW if you send me your address I'll see if I can post you a couple of bits of 2x4 to use as wheel chocks. The present ones are scaring me.

They look like a masterpiece of misguided engineering, from a maintenance point of view. An old aircraft engineer told me that the designers of these things should be made to strip and re-assemble their designs before every meal. That way you either get some really service friendly designs, or some very hungry engineers!

Never use washing detergent on rubber bushings it turns them sticky after a wile and they will end up squeaking....I know I have done it..

P.S.. Euro car parts are no longer the cheap place to buy parts from.. They don't do big discounts like they used to.. I either use my local motor factors or if it's a pre booked job I've got in the diary.. I buy on line

Just a loose thread... what was up with the radiator mount?

What mileage is it on? My Mrs has a 2012 cooper S Roadster with 35k, had it from New still has the factory fitted brake discs n pads (5mm left). Only issue shes had was a front passenger spring snapping whilst it was parked and an AC condenser swelling and leaking.

Someone real "clever" designed that front suspension setup 🤣

Think you should of jet washed all under front end would of looked so much better on temu they sell know rust just clean main crap of then paint on everything that's rusty only £2.50p 100 mlg goes on like a milky colour then drys matt black will make big difference when selling cars on sills front springs anywhere there rust looks tiny when done look at other products for faded black trim in and out as well a few ££ get lot more money smartens plastick up around car and door cards dash like the plastics in the engine bay rocker cover have look bud then if you like them put big order in keeping stock pile for future cars when they look the part people think it's been look after
