i love your ipad quality videos 😭 it’s so cozy
locked tf in rn
no matter what you use to make videos keep making them from my perspective it does not matter what the quality of a video is what matters is a personality
Excellent video. You describe the books so wonderfully and speak so well. Really enjoyed. Thank you.
thank you very much!! <3
A Sunny Book Nook has UA-cam videos recommending more sapphic romance
Thanks for the tip!!
Noooo, we want a TSH reading vlog 🥲 I recently reread it and it's such an interesting novel. I've been watching some deep dive videos on theories and speculations and I find the book more and more fascinating
Yay 👏👏👏 i love to see love for Authority. I read it super fast the first time and thought it didnt like it and then i took my time on the reread. There's so much there. ✨ Looking forward to seeing what you think of the next and his new addition!
can’t wait to finish & eventually reread to see everything i missed on the first!! 💓
You are so nice
omg, please make a video about speculative fiction!! I haven't really come across it before. I have always really struggled to get into sci-fi because it's too other worldly for me, but I study history and philosophy of science, so I would love to read things based on the actual world and what it could be. Plus, it talks about real science and epistemology - sounds like the perfect genre for me!
Omg girli I'm like 1 min in and can't believe u r so underrated?????? Pls keep going, gonna bing watch all ur vids like rn <3
A bookshelf tour?
aaa thank you so much🥹
If you like speculative fiction, check out the broken earth trilogy by nk jemisin!!
been meaning to get to it forever!!
this has inspired me to finally read the Iliad instead of just looking up summaries 😊
let’s gooo!!
The Haunting of Hill House is not very scary but it's still very well written.
I discovered your channel through WhittyNovels and you're such a calming presence somehow; I really adore your videos! <3
@@soboycottmaja7573 thank you so much, this is such a kind comment🤍
1) The Secret History is one of my favorite books, I hope you like it! I soooo get what you mean about books being over-recommended making me not want to read them lol because 100% same. I’m honestly so glad I stumbled upon TSH at the end of college before I got a tiktok and before booktok became what it is now bc finding it organically made it feel so special. This is making me want to reread tbh 2) The Haunting of Hill House is another of my faves lol,, I hope you enjoy that one too! I listened to it on audiobook the first time around this time of year, and it was perfect. And I do think it was the first step of me getting pretty into horror as a genre, so beware of that lol 3) congrats on starting grad school! Sounds both exciting and overwhelming and the way you’re talking about philosophy texts is reminding me that I desperately need to read more books that actually require work along with the fun easy ones. Loved this video! Such killer early autumn vibes
I just found your yt channel, please make vlogssss 🩷🩷🩷🩷
i’m really glad your channel came up as recommended! you have a lovely way of talking about books. i really hope you enjoy Shirley Jackson as she’s one of my favourite authors, i get on with her writing so well!
Aaah thank you so much❤ can’t wait to get to her!! hope I get on with her writing too!
❤️❤️❤️
omg i literally was watching a podcast today that talked about the fig tree metaphor then you said fig tree thoughts………… i feel so smart
i loved the darker shade of magic series when i read them! don’t remember a single detail now 🥲

congrats on grad school!!! how exciting!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!🤍
I feel like the opposite of you where I am only reading for pleasure and my brain has a hard time digesting things more complicated (like when I try to read classics) but I definitely want to do more reading in that area! Do you have any recommendations for intro classics/philosophy books to read to get my brain thinking in that way again?
Start with Plato! Always start with Plato! I’d love to do a video with more specific recommendations soon :)
I think I know what you mean...Call Me By Your Name gave me that late summer vibe.
whittynovels sent me ♥
You are so pretty❤❤❤
You are so gorgeous so beautiful
Gatsby as a summer read is so true… there’s a line from when Nick’s drunk in the apartment in NYC with Tom and his friends about the stifling heat that I always think about this time of year. I looove how you talk about summer and August especially;; you’re making me want to pull quotes straight from this video lol. This is a great list! Bumping The Stranger and Annihilation up to the top of my tbr 💪
Also I’d love to potentially hear some sci-fi recs from you! It’s a genre I’ve spent time in, but so often i have so much trouble getting into a story 😭 I love space stuff especially though and I really want to get more into the genre as a whole, I just haven’t yet
Honestly I love reading a YA fantasy series I missed as a teen! Like I read City of Bones as an adult a few years ago lol and was it deeply mid?? Yes but the world was so fun and it was a blast to get through. I haven’t read the Cruel Prince, but perhaps this is convincing me to give it a try
U speak beautifully please keep posting
thank you so much <3
Love that u love Clarice Lispector 🇧🇷
Clarice Lispector is my clarion call, I love her immensely. Água Viva is definitely a good starting place, I actually read her complete stories first, which was not the easiest beginning. I'd planned to just read a couple stories but i was immediately obsessed with her writing style I kept going. The Hour of the Star is her most well known work, amazing, but isn't my favorite. An Apprenticeship, or the Book of Pleasures might be my favorite from the sheer amount of underlining I did in it. I only began reading her works about 2 years ago and I'm not rushing through so there's a bunch a still haven't read. Exciting because shes still getting new translations! I am so happy for you to be able to go on the journey into her work, there's been stories by her that didn't grab me as much, but nothing I thought was bad or not worth the time to read. I've begun reading bits of Too Much Life, a compilation of the weekly column she wrote for a local newspaper, its so close but different from her prose. Like you said her writing is almost like thinking, I've never read something that articulates so well thoughts/feelings I never thought I could share. So her writing about little bits about life, the mundane and culture meditations is so fun! Reading her work also lead me to Benjamin Moser who wrote the only(?) English language biography about her, which I absolutely loved. He has also translated a few of her books. He has such admiration and reverence for her work, it made reading his biography of her so fun. He also won the Pulitzer for a biography of Susan Sontag, I haven't read it yet, and I've only read one of her books, Regarding the Pain of Other's, but she's an author whose work I want to get into. Have you read anything by her before? He also published a book last year about the Dutch Gold Age of Art called The Upside Down World and I thought it was really lovely if you like art history things. I could go on more but I'll leave it there. Made me happy to watch another video from you :)
oh my gosh thank you for taking the time to leave such an in-depth comment about Lispector!! makes me happy that there is so much to discover about her, seems like a bit of a rabbit hole to go down (but in a GOOD way!!) (i will be referring back to your comment when i’m trying to decide which Lispector to pick up next!!)
Amberly can u do a speculative fiction recommendations? I know u loved I who have never known men, I did too but I havent found anything that gets me like that yet... i know ur the right girlie for this u got The Taste
Elise!! this is my dream video (one I’ve already started journaling about, it’s like you read my mind). Need some time to read a few more books before I can come up with a solid list-Hang tight! xx
@@ofbooksandthings HELL YEAH!!! Im looking forward 🙏🙏🙏
i've jus preordered the new edition of 'autobiography or red' and now even more excited to read! currently winter here in Australia but definitely going to add east of eden to my reading list for summer!
Ooh I didn’t know it was being rereleased!! I hope you enjoy it!! It’s really so special & unique
hey! i'm so glad you're back, you deserve all the attention ✨ listening to you talk about cmbyn made me realize that i DO NOT remember the back half of it, which is a bad habit of mine, i just forgot/mentally skip over parts of books i don't like, like lines. i definitely developed that as a kid reading old sci-fi and just choosing to never read any of these old mens descriptions of women. really appreciate your explanation of your feelings on it. whatever you think the author may have been trying to do he definitely did not succeed with that ending. good luck with the cruel prince, i'll enjoy hearing your reaction to it. i won't comment on cs lewis, i have beef with that man from theology courses but i am glad that you had fun with it.
Ahaha I love that you have beef with C.S. Lewis💀
hihi im here from whitneys channel!! ive been subbed to her for yearss. i binged read the cruel prince trilogy i think last year or year before that right after i read acotar series i was soo hooked in both of those series and love em and im still soo much in the mood for fae books ngl. i think the first fae books i read was the throne of glass series. i had been wantin to read acotar series and cruel prince for a while but kept pushing it off and waitin for all books to be out. ive read stolen heir duology but my fav is the cruel prince trilogy. i mostly read fantasy but i love scifi and apocalyptic survival books. with cruel prince series i agree it hooked me plus i liek the scheming and plotting and how badass jude was. yeah its light on romance which is nice. i like when theres romance but i dont want it to be the main plot and i also dont like when theres too much spice tbh. like spice level of acotar series (which increases overtime) and crescent city was ok for me.
You are so gorgeous so pretty
I love this 😍 Came to your channel from Whitney’s shoutout on her video and blasted through your whole channel while reporting my herbs. I’ve decided this summer I should commit to one honker of a book and try and actually get through it, but haven’t really committed to one yet. I think you’re motivating me to get moving on that. Been thinking about trying to read Ulysses (tried it years ago and got like. 25 pages in) and maybe I will?? Or if not that one then one of the others I’ve been sitting on. Wrote like half of these down as well 💪
Oh I love this - I also don’t do tbrs but always have a list of like….. books I’ll get to next?? I so feel the same like you about books getting too big and me getting the ick lol but I really do think The Secret History is so good <3 it’s a slog tho I won’t lie. Also I looooove House of Leaves and I feel like if ur a Piranesi girl (me too tbh) it’ll hopefully hit lol it’s wack as hell but has haunted me for years.
Loved the video!! Such refreshing picks! By the way, the text on the screen was too small to read and the scroll bar time stamps don't show all the books, some titles I had a hard time hearing/seeing :(
