I absolutely LOVE the Crate idea. Something similar is going in my build. I love the Cedar. I heard it's lightweight and I love the look of unfinished bare wood. It's beautifully crafted! The table on the wall idea is another genius idea and the smaller bed than the usual build. I'm certainly keeping this idea in mind to give my van more functional counter space.

Thank you. Yes they were Bomar hatch from the low profile series. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes so you can choose the one that works best for you. They are available online on Amazon and Defender.com

Hello, nice van. I ld like to know how you saw doors ? It seem so nice, so tight...i try with a jigsaw but the result is not as clean as yours.
For the cut out, the internal corners are done with a hole saw (a scrap piece of wood needs to be clamped to the back to prevent the grain from blowing out on the back face). Straight lines are then cut between the holes with a track saw. The cuts are finished of carefully with a fine bladed hand saw. It is then fine tuned with sand paper. A rebate can be added with a router if desired. The door panels are first cut out as rectangles with a track saw. The rounded corners are cut oversized, and then sanded to the correct radius and carefully adjusted to get all the gaps even.

What plywood did you use? I love the idea of this layout! The panels on the bench top they pull out completely to get access is ingenious. When driving does the cushion slide off the bench?
The plywood is birch. The cushion immediately behind the cabine is attached with velcro. The driver side cushions are wedged by the table when driving so that leaves only the passenger side cushions that can move. It generally doesn’t (as the end as a recess) and when it does it only falls somewhat in the middle (the lower section) which is not an issue.

Yes we got it from a French online retailer (H2R équipement) but I’m being told by other viewers that this product is no longer available. Maybe you can ask the manufacturer directly?

We haven’t kept a great record of our expenses but I would say roughly 7000€.
The design and planning is excellent and it turned out awesome. What are the chances of you selling your plans as an ebook for example?
Thanks for the great feedback. We actually don’t have the plans. We had a rough layout in head before we started but then we measured everything as we went along between the van constraints and the equipment measurement. So we don’t have a record of every piece unfortunately

Vidéo très bien réalisée et très inspirante ! J’ai vu votre vidéo il y a un mois, depuis j’ai commencé les démarches pour vendre ma voiture et je pense m’acheter un utilitaire de ce genre (maxi Kangoo ou Berlingo XL) pour partir sur des week-ends escalades ! En effet, la taille du lit est non négligeable et c’était un peu la crainte de ma copine avec un minivan mais la le problème est réglé ! ^^ Et le fait de pouvoir garder le côté « salon assis » avec autant d’espace ça à l’air top ! Vendez vous des plans de ce type d’aménagement ? Encore bravo !

On ne vent pas les plans simplement parce qu’on n’a pas gardé la trace de chaque mesure de chaque pièce mais si vous avez besoin de quelques dimensions de bases (genre largeur du tiroir, hauteur des bancs etc) vous pouvez nous écrire via notre site web et on mesurera pour vous!

What's the height dimension? Im 1.85m tall, im afraid to not be able to sit comfortably to work on laptop. Im an architect, love small spaces. Im about to do my own van and this desgin is incredible well put. Congratulations!
I think you will not be able to sit comfortably indeed. I would say that up to 1.75m is probably ok, 1.8m if you didn’t plan on spending much time inside at all but in your case it will be too low

How did you get the cork insulation to stick to the walls?

In the UK tradesmen's vans are regularly targeted as thieves want the expensive tools inside, so disguising it as a tradesman's van seems counter intuitive to me.
I must have looked at hundreds of van conversions of all sizes over the years and to be honest what you have is done is absolutely amazing. Both the thought and obvious skill in achieving this would put most van conversion businesses in the shade. Well done for a truly fantastic job!

Thanks. The drawer runners are steel extrusions (square) that travel between skate board bearings. The extrusion are very common and easy to find in any DIY store. The bearings can be found online.
