    John…..I am one of the few that watch your UA-cam video’s to the end. My thoughts are ………IF I am watching your videos to the end. So are a lot more people. I think you should give yourself a lot more credit for the content that you are producing. I find it relaxing and enjoyable. You run your deck like a boss. If you were to ask me what you do for a living. I would say judging by your videos…..that you are a seasoned professional charter boat captain. And a patient one if that. Unless you do a lot of editing. Example…….. THERE is always that one person that squats in that one corner of the boat. Where the tools and knives and fish box are….. that you constantly have to ask to move out of the way. I noticed that in several of your video videos so far. You are a very patient man. I guess it better then the live well….lol. By the way. What brand of fillet knife with the serrated blade on top and straight blade on the bottom that you are using? Keep up the good work with your video’s.

      Thank you for the positive comments. This is not my full time job just a passion of mine that I like to share with my friends. We try to fish when can make it out when we are off from our full time jobs. I just started this channel to share what we do with people like you just this year and it has been a big learning experience for me being self taught in editing these videos. A lot more goes into it than I realized when we started this adventure. As for the filet knife it is a Dexter Dextreme filet knife. Most of the knifes we use are Dexter knifes along with a few Bubba Blades. Again, thank you for watching and commenting. Hopefully we will have another video out next weekend since we are going fishing tomorrow.

      I used Big Green Egg natural lump charcoal with Hickory wood chunks for the smoke. I smoked it for about 7 hours at 275 degrees, I wrapped them once the internal temp got over 165 degrees. We pulled them off when the internal temp got to over 203 degrees and let them rest in the foil for a couple hours before pulling the meat. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    You asked what you can do to improved it? I’d get some cheap meats. Porkbutt, pork ribs and learn that smoker and where the hot spots are. I have the exact same Yoder and it comes with experience trust me… Also another thing you can do is make some jalapeño poppers and put them at different places inside the grill. Take care of the flat more than you do the point. When that’s done, the brisket is done. Good luck

    Wow! Are you desperate for views or did I miss something? "Stay tuned to the end to see what FWC does with our snapper." Unless I missed something (I looked at it multiple times, so I did not miss something), no FWC anywhere in the video. Seriously sad clickbait.

    • @johnphillipsfishing
      @johnphillipsfishing Місяць тому

      If you watched to the end you would have seen us talking with the FWC researcher. He was taking our fish as we were cleaning them and taking DNA, the sex of the fish and the crystal in the head that tells the age. Look at 43 minutes in he explains everything he was taking including the carcasses. Sorry you thought it was click bait. Thank you for watching.

      @timlehman5763 29 днів тому

      @@Rage9603 I'm sure John's a great guy (and, John, I mean no offense), but I think the caption is disingenuous. My point is, the caption does not say "...then FWC took my fish carcasses for research!", but rather was deliberately worded to plant the image in potential viewers' minds of uniformed FWC officers literally taking his catch for some reason to be found out only by "staying tuned to the end." I see/hear this bait on all kinds of YT channels..."be sure to watch to the end." I think it was BlueGabe who made a video about making money as a YTer where he said watching videos to the end is more important than (or as important as) number of views. Clearly, that is why YTers use that tactic. Any idea on where I can get one of those official FWC coolers? LOL

    • @Rage9603
      @Rage9603 28 днів тому

      @@timlehman5763 The whole point I tried to make was that they are in the video and take fish. And all you did was point out "for some strange reason" a basic tactic which is used in almost every video on UA-cam. If you clicked on because of that you should probably watch some pirate videos matey. And they sell that "official cooler" at Walmart the one you are handing out stickers in.

    Don't you think you overdid it with the amount of fish you took maybe you could save something for my grandchildren to catch filling wheel barrels up like that was from the 60s and 70s not a thing of today only keep what you could eat at one setting and release the rest

    • @johnphillipsfishing
      @johnphillipsfishing Місяць тому

      Thank you for watching and commenting. None of the fish goes to waste. We even take as much of the fish as we can including the cheeks and collars which most people waste. That amount of fish was split among 5 people to feed a lot of families. The amount of fuel it takes to go 60 miles offshore requires us to maximize the catch when we go. If you saw on the fish finder there are way more fish in the ocean than what we took. The real problem is the commercial fisherman that use long lines and nets to provide all the fresh fish you get in the supermarkets and restaurants.

    Great video. Do you bleed your fish? Why or why not. New angler curiosity.

      @johnphillipsfishing Місяць тому

      Yes we try to bleed and brain the fish as we catch them. It does make a difference on the meat for sure. In the videos from a few weeks ago we showed how we brain and bleed the fish as we catch them. Thanks for the question and for watching!

      Your welcome! I enjoy watching your videos, can't wait for the next video. I fish out of Hubbard's Marina in Madera Beach, I enjoy the 10 hr trip they have. Can't wait to go again. Keep those videos coming.
