Great, never released song from Randy California. Too bad somebody added the fake crowd noises throughout the song.

Переглядів 2558 років тому
This was recorded during the 1950s on a reel-to-reel tape recorder from the radio broadcast using a hand held microphone held up to the radio speaker. It features Myra Svetic from East Chicago, IN. The program was called "Bowling Queens" and featured the top women bowlers in the Chicagoland area. Sorry about the quality but it was recorded with 1950s technology and has quite a bit of hiss to th...

Absolutely one of the most gifted bands of the 60s- early 70s era. Harmonies, part writing, innovation, Randy and Spirit were ahead of their time 9

I know thT its a sad day with Dickey Betts passing away . I can only imagine Dickey, Randy and Ed Cassidy playing together again. What with Randy California being a big fan of Bob Dylan. Rocking on heavens doors again. What a sad loss to great music 😢

Thank you for giving this view and sound back to us. I was at the infamous final, all original members, Spirit Concert at the Santa Monica Civic when Neil Young was "kicked" off the stage by Randy at the end of the show. Firefall was a Neil Young produced band that opened the show so it was no coincidence Young was there. It was Awessoooome. What people generally do not know is that ED Cassidy came from behind the drums, picked up the mike, after the rest of the band stormed off the stage in the middle of the song, ands gave a loud prolonged primal scream to get our attention and announced that although they intended to do one, there would be no encore dropped the mike and walked off the stage. After a stunned silence we all went crazy and seriously if the seats were not bolted down they would have gone flying. After 5-10 minutes of pandemonium they did come back. I can't honestly remember if Neil Young came out too. What I do remember is the "forced" encore was an incredible rendition of Black Eyed Women. After it ended they did leave the stage forever to a long standing ovation. And that was the End of the Spirit I grew up. BTW I have neve heard the song Island of Roses. Does anyone know anything about it? Can't find anything on the Net but this great posting by Pookytoons.

I still remember the first time I listened to Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus. I was listening to the original KPPC FM late one night and the DJ said his buddy just walked in with the new Spirit album and he was going to play the whole album for us. It was the most amazing music I ever heard in my life, and it is still just as amazing today. I think Spirit was one of the most underrated and underappreciated bands ever.

I always wonder how great a guitarist Randy could've been had he been able to go with Hendrix to England when Jimi left with Chas Chandler. The legend is Jimi asked Randy to go with him, but since he was only 15 at the time, his family understandably put the brakes on that idea. But what if....... Randy been the rhythm guitarist in the Experience? Imagine the sounds they could've produced on stage together? Thumbs up if you think Spirit should be in the R&R HOF. [Ok, the HOF is a POS for putting bogus people in, but leaving Spirit out is shameful.]
