Take opportunities, not chances. A while back on Beyond the Highway 2.5, ua-cam.com/video/xOiST0FowmQ/v-deo.html I missed the opportunity to tour around the historic M.V.Wairua. In this episode, I get one better, a cruise to Hipango Park, a BBQ and a night sky devoid of light pollution. The purpose? While the weather we experience in New Zealand is less extreme than in some countries, it doesn't make winter that pleasant for camping compared to our other seasons. As a result, you must choose your moments and enjoy the good days. With the good days also being short days, short adventures are the perfect solution, such as short walks, being close to home, and exploring places that have been ...
Between adventures. An update and an identity crisis?

Life gets in the way sometimes, and when it does, the big adventures have to give way to the things that pay for such shenanigans. With a lot of work-related time on the road, I began questioning many things, including, is work too much of my identity, and how to get the balance back. The answer was spending more time on the things I enjoyed before I let work get in the way. For more info on pl...

@@azzanaki6368 cramp stop seems to prevent it getting worse. I’ve had thighs lock up leaving me stuck in the middle of the road in the past. It’s not a cure all, but seems to help. Backpack - weight in the back = weight on your backside. Basically a comfort thing is why most bikepackers don’t use a backpack. Puts more pressure on contact points such as seat and hands. After long days in the saddle, it all adds up. Personally I also affects my neck.

Great to see you on the cycle path which passes my son's house on Papaiti road! The river road is a great ride by whatever means you do it. Living in the UK I don't get to visit very often so your adventures are lovely to see and remind me of how unspoilt much of your region is. 😊

It seems its a bit of a treck . You seem to spend more time carring your bike but its a nice one

Thanks for the video man, I forgot all about those Waikato river trails I saw them once driving past maybe 8 years ago [before I was MTB mad!] TrailForks doesn't really show much recent info, did you ride them all or have you got any recent intel? I imagine cyclone Gabrielle wrecked them but maybe they've been repaired? It's a reeeeeeeeally long drive down from Whangarei if they aren't rideable 😶

I only rode that section. The Waikato River Trails FB page is always really into it with updates on maintenance and issues. They’re pretty proactive in keeping things open.

Hi can anyone tell me if the top flat part of the dash can come off alone leaving the top and lower dash still fixed as I need access to run some wiring from engine bay through the top grommet on the right hand side when looking at the engine head on. Or is there any other easier route to run cabling inside the cab? Thanks

Not sure about an easier way, but the dash is pretty secure with just the top dash pad removed. From memory even the instrument cluster sits in its own enclosed frame which has more bolts retaining it also.
