The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) advances the influence and impact of women in all forms of media. Founded in 1951, AWM (formerly AWRT) works to promote diversity and strengthen the influence of women in the vast media community.
And in 1960, AWM formed an educational foundation - the first of its kind established by any professional broadcasting organization. The AWM Foundation's mission is to create positive change in media by supporting educational programs, recognition events, and scholarships that benefit students pursuing careers in media and allied fields.

AWM Media Masterclass: Understanding Copyright Basics and Fair Use
AWM Media Masterclass: Understanding Copyright Basics and Fair Use, presented by Anna Chauvet, Partner, Finnegan.
This session provides an overview of U.S. copyright law, including the types of works that are protected (and those not protected), the exclusive rights of copyright holders, the work-made-for-hire rules, and potential liability due to unauthorized use.
This session also focuses on the doctrine of fair use, which permits use of a copyrighted work without the copyright owner’s permission in certain circumstances. Fair use is one of the most easily misunderstood legal concepts. This presentation breaks down this legal doctrine, provides examples of what constitutes fair use and what does not, and provides some practical considerations in determining whether a proposed use is “fair.”
Anna Chauvet leads Finnegan’s copyright practice and brings significant experience in tackling cutting-edge issues pertaining to copyright. Anna has testified before the U.S. Copyright Office concerning artificial intelligence and copyright, as well as spoken in other government, academic, and industry forums regarding developments in copyright law and legislative efforts.
Prior to rejoining Finnegan as a partner, Anna served as vice president of public policy at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), where she was integral to policy development and advocacy strategies in the areas of artificial intelligence, music licensing, privacy, and antitrust.
Anna also served as associate general counsel at the U.S. Copyright Office, where she advised on litigation strategy to inform the U.S. government’s views regarding novel questions of copyright law pending before the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, she helped implement the Music Modernization Act (MMA), the most sweeping reform to copyright law in decades, by issuing regulations regarding the newly formed mechanical licensing collective charged with administering the blanket license for musical works.
Anna holds an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law.

Marlo Thomas was a pioneer for television. She paved the way for comedy in a very lovely and exceedingly gracious, way.

I was honored to win a Gracie in 2020 - the year of the pandemic. Those of us who won that year never got the big celebration. Just an online celebration, which was understandable, and done very well. But I can't help but be a little envious of those who have won since, and have been able to celebrate the way you should! That was the first thing she had done when she was a teenager. I've seen a photo of her before the nose job and she had Danny's nose for sure!
It's very obvious that Marlo has done a world of good for many children at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN! Not to mention all the other people she has used her celebrity status to help over many years. She truly deserves this recognition for all of her very helpful accomplishments! God bless her kind heart!

Why would she win a Lifetime Achievement Award?
Her show "That Girl" was a pretty big deal back in the day. Especially for women's lib.
Marlo deserves an award for getting through filler and Botox injections. It is absolute TORTURE. You’re 85 now leave your face alone you don’t need it especially your lips. I finished watching the complete That Girl series just love it brings back foggy memories as I was a little girl in the 1960s I distinctly remember the darling opening, how can anyone forget it. I love the adorable summer dress and matching umbrella. Ted was a doll your chemistry unforgettable. Hate Anns father he’s a nightmare. He gets on my nerves. Hate Donald’s mother Oy vey🙄You've had a charmed life must be nice. IMO My fam is also part Lebanese and Italian. My sister resembles you when you were younger. I love Marlo so no scathing replies.

Marlo is such a classy lady! Coming out of a time in Hollywood when stars were respectful and appreciative of their fame! Her dad Danny Thomas left us a legacy with St. Jude that many today could never accomplish. Congratulations on your Lifetime honor!
I absolutely love Ms Lenz, she is such a phenomenal actress and I never get tired of hearing her voice or watching her movies, I first notice her on my favorite soap Guiding Light and I have been a fan from then on, I also love her Hallmark movie's, she is so underrated they need to give her~ her flowers!!!
'That Girl' often featured African American actors and actresses in non-service related roles - cops, business people, well-dressed women out and about. Marlo Thomas is the product of an incredibly good man, Danny Thomas. Bless this woman. I just love her.
