What liquid did you use to simmer it?
Love the video. Can you share what you have done with the overhead coverage "pergola". Need to build for my new home backyard.
Great job
1;47 seconds of watching you season. Could have saved us the waste of time FFS
YS640s on competition cart just arrived yesterday. Burn 🔥 in tonight, baby!!!!
This was very helpful. Thanks. Now off to do my burn-in😎
What temp on the smoker?
Nice video. I wanted to see a normal guy doing it. Thanks
Does the 480 heat up faster than the 640? Use less pellets?
Hello. Are you happy with the 480. Or do you wish you had more cooking room?
Nice
Any regrets not going 680 size?
I picked up a rib rack from Green Mountain smokers. The whole 10 racks of ribs and it fits perfect on the silver back. I did nine racks also for 26 people at a potluck. I had half a rack left over towards the end, and the kid that has never had ribs polished off the last half a rack. it’s funny he didn’t know if you’d like ribs or not I guess he did!!!
i love how everyone uses the phrase "doing a cook", like it's a occasional event, for me doing a cook is called the weekend!
How is the Yoder for direct grillin? How long does it take to reach a high temp?
Looks delicious. What temp did you set it for and how long did it take? Thank you in advance.
Best pellet grill on the market
All you did by using oil to season is create a place for pellet dust to stick & gather. Pellet grills don't need it (besides the grates), especially below the heat reflector. Fats from your cooks will season parts that need it.
you might want to read the manufactures directions before you start making a comment like that
@@SmokeyCue That's based on the general consensus that most grills/bbqs need it. If your pellet smoker/grill (with the exception of a couple designs) is operating correctly there should be nothing corrosive below the grease pan. There should be nothing but dry pellet dust. By introducing oil, if anything you may be creating a slightly more corrosive environment.
Title says "Bottom Round" but they look like Eye round roasts??🤔
The package said bottom round
I had a couple minor issues with my Silverback several years ago. They took care of everything without question. Very good experience. The unit is still running flawlessly.
Mine just came in today, haven’t even seasoned it yet but was wondering…does your heat shield clip into both little notches at the bottom of the body or just one side? I can’t find any good info anywhere else. Just curious. Doesn’t seem critical if it’s only clipped in on the one side.
Yes mine dose clip in on both sides it takes a bit of muscle to get it in.
Nicely done ✔️
Thank you Neil 👍
Hello, delicious story. Thank you for sharing. class work. Greetings, BBQ Dino 🦖
Thank you for watching
Just got one for Christmas. Glad to find this video.
Glad I could help
Hows she running ??? I have been eyeing it for my very first smoker
The 480 is running great it’s a little workhorse
the bottom expanded mesh grates did you buy those additionally over the standard bar based grates?
Yes I ordered them separately I still have the regular grates.
I am looking at the Yoder 480. I am selling my Traeger ironwood. I don’t like the Traeger due to a huge lack of smoke flavor even compared to my other pellet grills. How do you feel the Yoder does for smoke compared to the grills grills you have owned?
I have 4 Yoders two 480s and two 640s. The yoders have a better smoke flavor than the Grilla Grills silverbac or the chimp. I also found Traeger pellets don’t have much flavor.
What is going on family, new subscriber here 😳
Mike my bearded brother
It would be very helpful if you stated how much time it took @ 220 to get to 170 internal Temp and at 250 wrapped how much time to get to 205 internal Temp! otherwise a Great Video
It’s hard to see a time with that each piece of meats different and will take different times to get to those temperatures.
Was wondering, how has the chimp been holding up? Interested in purchasing one.
The chimp has been great it’s a little work horse. The new chips that are offered by Grilla Grills now have a Wi-Fi capable board.
@@SmokeyCue Thanks Johnny! I appreciate your response!
You are so welcome glad I could help.
Can you tell me why you downsized to the 480 after having the 640? I’m just wondering. Right now I have the 640 preordered. I’ve had it preordered since late august and it will hopefully be coming beginning of November
Oh I still have both of my 640’s I bought the 480 for me to use at the church when I cook there.
@@SmokeyCue if you could only have one, would it be the 640?
Yes it would be the 640. The 480 is good because it’s lighter and it’s a little more portable than a 640 but the 640 has the room.
Thank you for responding. I think I’ll stick with my 640 preorder. I enjoy your videos!
The only reason I got the 480 was to replace the Grilla Grills Silverbac at the church I just needed more room than thing had.
Is the chimp double walled like the silverback?
Yes the Chimp has the double wall construction like the Silverbac.
Nice. What's the wait time on those things these days when ordering? I was hearing a few months.
It’s a 14 week wait time from what I hear.
There is a new cook show otd cooking in the hood and he cooked tilapia on the BBQ Grill wrapped in aluminum foil his show is live and he's doing something different you need to check it out otd cook it in the hood
Thanks for the recommendation
Thank you sir! Just picked the newest model up! Love this bad boy
Nice welcome to the Yoder family👍
@@SmokeyCue couldn’t say no! It was time for an upgrade and this unit takes the cake!
You made a great choice.
I'm going to try this tonight on my yoder ys640s, are those pellets u used produce better smoke then bbq delight pellets? Thanks for the video, Ron!!
Both are great brands I just have a hard time getting bbq delight pellets out here
Awesome vid.
Thank you
What shears do you use? It made short work of cutting the back out.
These were the shears I was using in the video. Thanks for watching. www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Spring-Loaded-Poultry-Shears/dp/B000PGG7ZQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=meat+shears&qid=1626180658&sprefix=meat+sh&sr=8-11
I would love to see how to prepare the roast ( trim) Looks like you took most of the fat off?
On the bottom round roasts there is not much fat to trim off. I currently have a broken hand when I’m all healed up and can use both hands I will do a trimming tutorial.
@@SmokeyCue oh no! Wishing you a Speedy recovery ❤️🩹
Thank you
Seasoning my 640 right now
Good video! Waiting for mine to come in this week! Thanks for showing this!
Thank you. You’re going to love the Yoder
Yesssssir! This how we like em, enjoyed the video too 👌🏻🥩🔥🤘♠️
Thanks Duke
Looks good! Thanks for the video.
Do you season the outside of the grill? If so what do you use?
Only the inside Enjoy
Yo, about how much time after the 45 min of 235 degrees?
I've been going back and forth between the YS640S and the Traeger Timberline 1300. I'm leaning towards Yoder, how is their customer service? The nearest Yoder dealer is about an hour away.
The Yoder customer service is outstanding as well as the build quality of the smokers.
If I’d have to do this in the oven how much temp and for long would I do it? Please help 😊
Try going at 350 degrees for about an hour use a meat thermometer to gauge where you’re at in the cook start checking the temp at 45 min.
Wow great looking steak..A+ ....Any reason you didn't sear it on the Yoder? I have the YS480 on the way that i can't wait to use....the biggest reason i went with Yoder Pellet is the 600 degree temps for searing plus i bought the the Searing plates.
I just wanted to use kettle I hadn’t used it for a while.
So damn good 💯 🔥
Thanks Ricky
WOW! This is a thing of beauty! Great job! I can almost smell it where I'm at. Found you on IG! Keep cooking!
Thank you for the support 👍
