How did you add the Looper? I don´t see the way to turn effects on or off listed here
@@albertochapagtr your preset has to contain a looper already. There are dedicated midi commands to control it, but you have to make sure the looper is added
I’m new to QC so I am totally confused why you would add a midi switch when it does midi and has so many buttons already. In scene mode you have 8 patches for a single song. In 30 years of playing, I don’t think I have used more than about 4 different sounds for one song. What is this actually solving for QC players? I was researching setting up the QC midi and found a few people adding a separate midi controller. I guess I went the other rabbit hole because I added my Strymon stuff and have QC running it.
@@gregsteffey1266 I explain in the video why. Having a dedicated button to swap scene/stomp mode and gig view is essential for me. I play covers, so I have a general preset that covers most things, and a few song-specific presets for anything extra I need.
Great tutorial
I’d leave the data structure clean and product this garbage output as a separate concern
That’s good
A little bigger, plz
This is one of those questions I need more coffee just to grok
Good morning! Let’s Goooooooo!
A couple days ago I ran into the same issue where my input file was nowhere to be found and gave up. Now I know how to fix it :)
Is it possibly to share the (timecoded) lyrics with the singer? So the actual lyrics would be highlited there too. Thank you. Btw, amazing tutorial video 👏🏼🙏🏼
Yes, when you go into Lyrics view in Stage Traxx 3, you can play the song and add timestamps to each line. When performing, this will highlight the current lyric. Multiple people can join a "Session" in StageTraxx 3 to view the current song, which includes lyrics & timing information. Only the Host gets to control playback, however.
how could you change the light color? Mine is deep blue.. Looks like yours is brighter
On the Hotone? I didn't change it, but this was filmed in HDR, maybe that's why it looks brighter.
How difficult was it to connect to the QC?
Also, how are you powering that midi?
First, what an amazing job you did with kv-downloader! WOW! Kudos! I have started with the newest version. Is there a way that it will not include the count in if by chance it was set at some point in the past for a given song? I have about 400 songs and I wish not to have to manually remove it.
@@GillesBeaulacJoe can you pop an issue on the GitHub project? It’s a good idea.
what ipad do you use?
@@TiaraSiyani I have an iPad Pro (not M1) and it works great, but for other reasons I typically run the show from my laptop.
@@bscheirman what is recomendation ipad for playing backing track?
@@TiaraSiyani any new iPad will do fine, the Pro line will be handle more simultaneous tracks. If you need it also to control a mixer, lights, etc and backing tracks I would recommend the iPad Pro
@bscheirman please can you share your cc messages from HOTONE to QC? Im struggling to do a dedicated button from stop mode to scene , and lopper as well
Hi, I have problem with setting up gig mode cc message, I managed to turn it on from my midi controller but I can't switch back/turn it off, please advise, thank you.
0/127 - off/on
Can you set a midi switch to control and individual tile like a boost or multi voice?
@@facelessmediallc8723 not unless it’s also assigned to a switch on the QC. (Even in scene mode you can do this)
Hey Ben, Would you Share The Download Script? Cheers Holm
Ben, great video! I'm a total beginner to Logic Pro X and Stage Traxx 3, so I'm trying to use your video as an instructional tool in the hope of learning the basics. Have I bitten off more than I can chew? Having recently downloaded both software packages on my iMac, I've 'dot-pointed' each process into a word document. So I'm literally copying what you've done with 'Keep Your Hands To Yourself'. A few questions, though: 1. How do I move the whole song (all the tracks) forward (to the right) in order to accomodate a two-bar click? 2. How do I put a two-bar click on the Click Track? 3. How do I select/copy, then paste at the beginning of the Click Track? Obviously I'm still learning the key commands, and as yet I haven't got a clue what all the little icons mean up by the tool bar! Thanks again for a great video - can't wait to get into the Stage Traxx section. Cheers for now...
keep at it, all of these things become easier with time!
Thanks for the helpful video!! May I ask where you got that board underneath everything? I’ve been looking for something to house the same expression pedal and QC 🙏🏻
This is a temple audio duo board
@@bscheirman Awesome!! Thank you so much! ✨🌟
Thanks for the helpful video Ben. I’ve watched a few videos on the Ampero control and apparently in the app it has some presets for non hotone gear. Such as Strymon etc. Did you play with the app for setup of your QC or manually set up your Ampero to what you needed? Do you know what Hotone does for usability options with their app for integration with the QC?
It does not include settings for QC, so I looked them up in the manual
@@bscheirman in the QC manual or Hotone one? Or both?

I love the script! I managed to get it working, I wish I knew how. It's far too clever for me. Next step would be to queue a load of URLs. Probably easy for someone to mod to make this happen.
No need to modify the source when you have bash, can write a loop that reads from a file. But just be careful you don’t end up looking like a bot
Wow, that's a great use of a MIDI controller. Wish I could figure out how to do that with my Airstep.
I need to figure out a way to turn stereo tracks into dual mono tracks in Logic because from what I understand, Logic's way of dealing with stereo is not to move the left to the right but silence the left. Some single stereo KV rhythm guitar mp3s have one guitar on the left and a slightly different guitar on the right. So panning in Logic will negate the L guitar. This is also true on background vocals as well.
in that case I'd probably duplicate the track and pan each one. Alternatively you might be able to sum the track and send to a bus which is panned hard L or R.
Hi there. Great video. I have a QC and I'm getting an ampero control because of your video. I want to do exactly the same thing exept that instead of scene and stomp mode I want to go preset and stomp mode and all the switching for preset/and stomps will be from QC. I don't use scenes (old school). All I really want is (like you) to avoid the pressing 2 buttons at the same time. Could you please guide me on how it's done? or maybe send me a link or a video? (Ive searched enough though). By the way, how do you power QC and Ampero? Thank you so much in advance
I power the QC with a Cioks Hi5 mod using 3 current doubler cables (4>2>1), which leaves 1 more for the Ampero Control. For programming MIDI, take a look at @ChuckHirstius's channel, he covers everything in detail.
Would it be possible to get a copy of your bulk download tool? The wait time is excruciating! Thanks
This is great, thanks for sharing. Does the script reset the track back to 100% volumes and pan center?
no, it doesn’t touch those settings
Hi Ben interesting how your using midi. I would like to set up a midi controller just to turn pedals on and off. I would like to use the quad cortex in scene mode and use the quad to change scenes. Then use the midi controller to turn pedals on and off while staying in my scene. Is that possible? Thanks.
Yes that's possible, but a little more convoluted that you might expect. Keep the QC in scene mode, then program each of your midi buttons as a macro that: (1) switches to stomp mode (2) presses one of the stomp slots (A-H) (3) switches back to scene mode. Chuck Hirstius has a bunch of excellent videos of how this works with a Morningstar MIDI controller. It works well, and it happens really fast.
@@bscheirman thank you
i HAD SAME PROBLEMS WITH THAT LOOPER. Ended up selling it, something is wrong with it, but its a great concetpt in a small package, pity its not working good.
Sound horrible!

Good morning I admit that I'm not really familiar with the terminal commands, but I managed, with tutorials, to clone the project. but when I enter the nmp command it does not recognize it I get a message "zsh command not found" Is there something I'm doing wrong? THANKS

@@bscheirman in fact, I didn’t even know how to use the script and how to install it with the terminator. But I asked to ChatGPT how to do it, and it seems that it will gonna work. Thanks a lot for your work.

What are the measurements of your pedalboard?
This is the Temple Audio DUO 17 board.
Do you have the code on github somwhere to automate the downloading of the individual tracks?
yes, you can find it here: github.com/subdigital/puppeteer-karaoke-version
@@bscheirman Thanks. Got it working. This will save quite a bit of time.
Why these videos are alwas recorded using socks? Its like a guitar-sock thing?
Very useful. I assume that midi can switch blocks on off too. It can almost do everything what QC ‘s switches do?? Right? Thnxx brother ❤
Currently you are limited to the functions that NDSP has defined, which are things like cycle through Modes, open/close tuner, open close looper, looper controls, and toggling a stomp that is already assigned a foot switch. This last part is the most limiting, you can't have a block learn a different foot switch message. I do think they might add this in the future, it would be so useful.
@@bscheirman agreed. Thnxx
@@bscheirmandid the new update resolve this or maybe it’s the update coming? I just got my whole new board laid out and then see this video with the Hotone mini and it has me thinking all of this again 😂 -P
Hello Ben. Great Tutorial at all. I do exact the same thing with tracks from Karaoke Version but Preparing them with Studio One. So i also have Logic x and want to use it for this kind of preparing instead of Studio One. So my question is: 1. You wrote a small program or code to automate the download from karaoke version . would you share the Program? 2. Do you have to timestretch the individual tracks or is it only the drum or Klick Track that makes the leader for the others. 3. Must the tracks be aligned in some way to fit on the DAWs Klick? thanks a lot and take care of you greets Mike
Hey Mike, 1. Here's a link. I just don't want to officially support it :) --github.com/subdigital/puppeteer-karaoke-version 2. The click that KV provides works well, but it often drifts, so if you make your own click you'll find that the song will deviate from it. So I use the click from KV, and when I import the song I can use the click track to analyze tempo. This can be useful if you need to edit or loop sections. 3. Doesn't have to be, but see point number 2.
Hello Ben. Thanks for the Link. I will try it soon.❤ Another Question i have is about the state of the tracks. when the click track is analyzed and the relative position of the other tracks is fixed does this mean i can change the tempo and the other tracks following automatically or must i do some tweaking in the Audio tracks to follow the tempo? Thanks Mike
@@mikemyday4795 In theory this should work. In practice I try not to touch it because if the click gets off it becomes useless.
thanks for sharing. Do you know how to swtich among modes? In the manual, I found that we can use #47 value 0/1/2 to choose the specific mode. But I don't find a midi message that can switch among them. I only want to use 1 instead of 3 buttons to switch mode.
Many midi controllers will let you cycle between messages with the same button
Thx!
Please which version of Logic Pro you use and which mac model and OS
Logic Pro X 10.7.9, macOS Ventura.
Hi! Would this work to turn effects on and off? I m usually in scene mode and it’s annoying to have to press two buttons to enter stomp mode. Ideally I’d like the 4 buttons on the midi controller to turn on and off phaser, overdrive, delay and reverb. I’d like to
Yes you could make this work, however the limitation here is "Press this button" not "Turn on this effect" -- so it would either by hybrid mode, or a one-button multi-command approach that would "switch to stomp mode, press G, switch back to scene mode". As finicky as this sounds, I think it would work fine.
THIS IS FANTASTIC! exactly what I have been looking for. Thank you for your concise and informative video!
Great video... My workflow is similar, but I just download the tracks I need, to use in ST3. I use Ableton, but usually, I just save the files straight and import to ST3. I love the routine you used to download each track separately. How can I obtain that routine? That would save a lot of time.
I just realized the benefits of using the Command Line Tool option to do these as opposed to building this in app or otherwise in the new projects menu. Great video and all around good learnin'. 👍
Another question, Ben, how do you share all your recent changes with your bandmates and keep in sync? Do you do a full back up and then sync everybody up with the most recent changes? I need a github for band scores and tracks 😂
No one else in the band has an iPad, so it's just me. But I do use multiple devices. I tend to make all major edits on my Mac and then use the iPad for practice & gigs. I used to have to backup & restore often, but now I'm using the ST3 iCloud sync, and so far it's working pretty well.
I need this!!
If only QC could assign parameters to MIDI events the way NDSP plugins can, I'd have bought that rather than the Helix.
Been using the Helix for 7 years. Switched to the QC 4 months ago and never going back. Yes I miss the functionality of the Helix but the QC sounds so much better. Still have my helix as a backup and home recording.
I’m thinking to swap my QC to helix. Is that a bad idea?
