Got to see Ella in San Francisco in really lousy way back seats. I guess Masonic Hall. But years later I was hired to shoot a Sun Microsystems shindig in San Jose by a friend who worked there. He got the presidential suite as a nexus for the evening. We had a party that first night. For some reason he let me have the master bedroom while he took a smaller room. Quite a bed. Then I started realizing who had slept in it. And Ella was one.
