Ramen, Moss, and Matcha | The Perfect Kyoto 48 Hour Itinerary
🍵 Ready to explore Kyoto’s magic with us? Follow our 48-hour journey as we explore the city’s must-see spots, hidden gems, and unforgettable food experiences! 🍜🍺
We kicked off our adventure in a cozy ryokan with a cedarwood bathtub-pure relaxation. For dinner, we discovered Katamuki, home to the creamiest chicken ramen we’ve ever tasted. A quick dessert stop for matcha ice cream was the perfect follow-up before strolling through the neighborhood and ending the night at Kyoto Beer Lab with an incredible imperial chili porter.
Day two started with a fermented food feast at Isoism-a brunch experience like no other. From there, we explored Gion, the iconic Inari Shrine (yes, it’s crowded but still breathtaking), and joined a free walking tour to dive into the world of Geikos and Maikos. Dinner was next-level at Hanamichi, where we devoured Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. The day ended with late-night beers at Shalara Craft Beer-a must for craft beer lovers.
On our final day, we savored a traditional Japanese breakfast before heading to Saihoji (Kokedera), Kyoto’s Moss Temple. With over 120 moss varieties, it’s a tranquil escape and a stunning alternative to the overcrowded bamboo forest. Advance reservations are required, but it’s absolutely worth it for the peace and beauty.
✨ Bonus tip: Don’t leave Kyoto without indulging in something matcha-we’ll show you our favorite spot at the end of the vlog!

Coolest Things to Do in Edinburgh - An Amazing Travel Guide
Cocktail Geeks has just debuted a ‘Fallout’ theme for their bar, which should be interesting. Wee Vault is, as I hear, unfortunately closing, as is Vault City’s bar in Portobello 😢 I believe they may be consolidating the bars following moving to a much bigger brewery premises, however, so fingers crossed they’ll open one bigger bar in the city soon! 🤞🏻
Thanks for your comment 🙌 Fallout sounds amazing, wondering what the Vault Dweller cocktail will taste like 🤔 Yes, Portobello taproom is already closed because of their move to the brewery, but also because of the significant headwinds in the hospitality industry 😖 We are super sad we couldn't visit the place for one last time. But according to Vault City, the Wee Vault will stay open. They are indeed looking for premises to open a bigger bar in the center, though 🍻 Do you have any other favorite drink places you could recommend?
@ Good news about the Wee Vault, thanks. I also enjoyed their ‘Big Swally’ festival at O2 Academy Edinburgh in October, and they have advertised it’ll be happening again this coming October. So many excellent pubs to choose from, but here are some of my favourites that I go to regularly with friends: Cloisters Campervan taproom Fierce Bar The Blue Blazer Dagda The Southern Stockbridge Tap Old Eastway Tap Lost In Leith Salt Horse The Jolly Judge Bellfield taproom Brass Monkey Teuchters Ryrie’s Brauhaus The Belfry Hope you can try them all! ☺️🍻
@@Thingfishy Awesome thanks! Some of them we already featured in our other Edinburgh videos (maybe there are some new ones for you as well?), but there are many new ones for us to test🍻 We seem to enjoy similar pubs 🙌
That was actually pretty good
Thanks so much for watching and your comment! Which was your favorite?
@ “Raest” the fermented place. Hands down blew my imagination away. Literally had an out of this world presentation. “Star Trek”ish 🖖
❤🎉
🤗🍜
So cool!! Looks delicious ❤ you also look super nice with the hat! ❤
Thank you 🤗 Sandro seemed to be a fave of the staff 🤩 and we didn't think chicken bandanas could fit that well indeed 🐥
Me, "I hope they end up visiting A... of course they do, it's the first place they visit." I keep being told how good some of those places are and I have an acquaintance who used to run one of the Omnipollo bars so a trip to Stockholm is absolutely on the cards. Btw, the couple who own Newbarns are good friends with the main people at Omnipollo, they just released two collabs, Complicated Dark Beer imperial stout and Emma's Winter Mild. Thank you for also showing the amazing sounding coffee shop. There are quite a few speciality coffee shops here in Edinburgh these days and I've been getting into it over the last year or two. I also watched a Short from you where you were talking about speciality single origin chocolate. My fiancee doesn't drink and doesn't like coffee but recently she discovered she absolutely loves single origin chocolate so both of us have been getting into that together. If you ever come back to Edinburgh for a video I can happily recommend The Maytree, a chocolate cafe about 200 m from the Hanging bat or cloisters.
Thanks for your comment! We absolutely love the beer scene in Stockholm-so many great places to explore. It's so cool you know someone who ran one of the Omnipollo bars! We actually know Freddie from Newbarns through a mutual friend and recently got to try Emma's Winter Mild here in Bulgaria (Where we are at the moment, Omnipollo is really popular here too). We're heading to Scotland in a couple of days and will be based in Glasgow, but we’ll be in Edinburgh for Hogmanay-thanks for the tip about The Maytree, it sounds amazing, and we’ll definitely check it out. Single-origin chocolate is such a fantastic shared passion, by the way-let us know if you and your fiancée discover any new favorites! Do you have any recommendations for Glasgow? We'd love to hear your thoughts!
I was just in Cork. Wish I saw this video earlier 😢
We hope you still enjoyed your time! It's an amazing city, and now you have even more reasons to go back 😉 What was your favorite place in Cork?
My wife and i had a wild night of live music, Beamish and Jamesons at The Oliver Plunkett when we were there last
I'm traveling to Tokyo next week, can't wait to try out your food recommendations :D
That's so awesome, we miss Japan a lot! Next week we have a video about Yokohama coming up. It's an amazing day trip from Tokyo. Are you only visiting Tokyo or also other cities in Japan? Have fun on your trip!
@@originaltravelz My girlfriend and I are also visiting Nagano (mainly for the Snow monkey park) and Osaka/Kyoto for a daytrip each :D I'm very excited about it, given it's the first time for me to travel to Japan.
@@MrSandoron Amazing! We've also been to Kyoto and Osaka, some videos about those cities we'll be coming soon (maybe too late for your trip, but then you can compare what you liked the most with our recommendations)! Have a great time in Japan it's such an amazing country!
Loving ur vids
Thank you so much! Which was your favorite video so far?
Watching this makes me want to book a flight to Japan ASAP!!! ❤
Believe me, editing it had the same effect for us. Thanks for you support Justine, we love your content! Cheers *Sandro
Omg this is sooo cool!! I'm also a chocolate expert, would love to do this! ❤
We should totally do this! It would be a lot of fun 🤗
YOU ARE DAMN LUCKY GUYS....SCOTTISH BEERS ARE THE BEST IN EUROPE..NEXT COME THE IRISH...MOST GERMAN BEERS ARE CRAP ( SORRY DUDES ) CONGRATS AND BON APPETITE...
Oh we absolutely love the Scottish beers as you can see in the video 😉 Which are your favorite Scottish brew and bar? Cheers!
@@originaltravelz WELL, THANKS...I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN SCOTLAND...SCOTTISH BEERS ARE VERY HARD TO FIND HERE IN TURKEY & THEY ARE VERY EXPENSIVE...I LOVE BLACK BEERS, STOUTS LIKE GUINNESS ...I TRIED ALBA AND INNIS...THEY ARE JUST PEEFECT BEERS...
At 11:16 : Heidelberg is located at banks of the Neckar river, not the Rhein (rhine river), but still a good video about my hometown
Thanks for pointing that out! You’re absolutely right-Heidelberg is on the Neckar River, right where it enters the Rhine Valley. We misspoke when we said Rhine later on; it was a slip of the tongue. Glad you enjoyed the video, though! Heidelberg is such a beautiful place to feature.
Thanks, from Botn in Heidelberg,
Thanks so much for watching! Have you seen our other Heidelberg video?
Good work, consistency will pay off.
Thank you so much! Don't worry, we have many videos coming up from Japan, Korea and around the world 😉
You whizzed by the tall fonts at Newbarns (5:10). These were the traditional 'taps' and are pretty much distinctive to old Edinburgh pubs. Check out the Bow Bar and Abbotsford for more of Edinburgh's tall fonts and their lovely cask beer!
Thanks so much for your comment! Yes, we heard about the the history of the tall founts, but what a really cool piece of beer history right there, thanks for mentioning it! We love the Bow Bar, we even featured it in one of our other Edinburgh videos: ua-cam.com/video/al3eNxrF4dY/v-deo.htmlsi=JimyGJ5Pzdz_XYHU We have not been to the Abbotsford yet, so it's now on the list for the next visit 🍻Thanks for your recommendations. Which are your other favorite Pubs/Breweries in Edinburgh?
Ohhhh this video makes me want to visit Japan again so badly!!
Thank you! We would also love to go back 🤩
The food looks sooo good!!! And healthy!! Love the Pikachu sweater! 😍
Thank you, it was really tasty indeed and we had to catch them all 🤗
Well, there are some great bars in Edinburgh, but this pair missed them all. Perhaps it was their infatuation with cocktails. In passing, no-one here uses the term “old reekie”! If you do visit, try The Cafe Royal - simply beautiful. And The Pear Tree… great garden.
Well, we have several videos about drinks in Edinburgh, but this guy found only places he doesn’t like 😉 This video focused on weirdly amazing drink places with unique concepts, which is why it’s not your typical pub crawl. We feature loads of local breweries on our channel for example, so it’s far from being just cocktails. But hey, everyone’s got their preferences ☺️ The Café Royal and The Pear Tree look nice- just not the vibe we were going for this time. Glad to see Edinburgh has something for everyone, though. Cheers!
Omg that looks so delicious! 🤩
Thank you! The miso cookie was out of this world 🤗
This was so cool!! Thank you for taking us with you!! ❤
Thank you so much, we still can't fully grasp we were there 🤗❤️
Have been to Zürich over a hundred times on business, can never imagine visiting there in private, the only city that is as bad as Zurich when it comes to food is probably Munich! Great job pointing out some outliers. I will definitely follow your suggestions next time I am there.
Thanks so much for watching! It’s true-finding great food spots in Zurich can be tricky. That’s why we’re working on creating even more content to highlight those hidden gems that are worth a visit. Hope our tips add a little more flavor to your next trip here! 😊🍽 Pro tip: keep an eye out for food pop-ups-they can be surprisingly good!

We apologize for the mistake and appreciate your understanding. Thanks for your continued support of Original TravelZ!
Yes, it is the second oldest uni in Europe
Good choices but you're missing out some staples. Tony's Bistro - Gone In 60 Seconds is a staple on a Sat morning after a Friday night!

Glad you enjoyed your visit to Cork ! I couldn't fault any of your choices, but there are lots more ! BTW where the Marina Market is now was once the Ford Motor Company manufacturing plant. The original Henry Ford was from Ballinascarthy, West Cork. In the Marina Market, Stewstore is a favourite of mine, as well as Poulez Vous where I would get the Korean Fried Chicken Bao Bun mmmm.
Thanks so much for your comment! Yes, we definitely have to come back to taste many other places. As we mentioned in the video, we didn't even scratch the surface of the Cork food scene ;) We didn't know it was a Ford manufacturing plant-that's some great insider knowledge!
