Kara you are brilliant, but it's great when you don't interrupt
I love this, but I gotta say, using the word "enslavement" instead of "slavery" violates the George Carlin principle for me. It just puts bubble wrap between the listener's ear and the painful truth of U.S. history. Feel the pain, folks.
HCR helped me keep my sanity during the darkest hours of Trump's administration. I'm still alive because of her.
Fantastic interview!
This might be the best intro ever. And to be near a stage with Imani is an absolute honor.
<<<<< you talk and talk all it is but the news paper should put out news only by a NONBIAS period of your views or your beliefs any news put out at all should be look over by a editor then proof read by a scholar idiots dont need to put out crap there is enough demontards in congress to add to the pile of fertilizer >>>>>>
I have thought the same thing……when someone is now against him, but now see how dangerous he is. I told my family that back in 2016. I saw Trump on Opera in college, and thought “What an idiot”. And, then I read about Trump’s bankruptcy by a former employee, who helped run the casinos. And, Trump did not even try to understand how to run the casinos. So I look at all these supposedly smart people “who did not expect Trump to be so narcissistic, and just say “WHAT”?
A Cook book, journalism, a legal brief ( non fiction everyday writing). The novel can resonate with different people differently.
SHAWN MCCREESH IS A PATHETIC DOUCHE BAG
Cancel prime, why😂
So much failure.

Blunt 2016 article brought me here: "America, you're stupid: Donald Trump's political triumph makes it official - we're a nation of idiots"
Martin Donald Harris Frank Jones Daniel
This was magnificent! Both were great. I enjoyed this immensely.
Fake😢
I would give anything to spend an evening in a Maine cabin with these three and a bottle (or 5😂) of wine.
Why only look at the Republican degradation of democracy. Why not discuss the last administration and the Democratic destruction of everything we knew during COVID. There is no more democracy.
Mitch...perfect pitch moderator@OINO😊
248 years and there are still the same problems still for the same people exists a nice idea is just that. It will take at least another 248 years at this rate and I’ll bet the same problems exist.
Yet to this very day American Equality has failed magnificently a nice idea never to be implemented in any reasonable way. WOKE was a request that, all be found equal before the law failed miserably
I saw other interviews of Isaacson and it is evident he has lot objectivity. Musk is a major jerk lacking moral integrity, but he cannot acknowledge it and instead talks about all his business accomplishments, because people don't want to buy a book about a jerk.
These people like to sit around and smell their own farts they don’t know the real world. that guy is the most hypocritical human being ever to walk planet earth and is everything wrong with our institutions
They all seem like they dont live in the real world. The guy on the right is really TERRIBLE.
I love Ford...as a broadcaster I know not to draw attention to myself and I wish the interviewer didn't
Jason Berry is My heroe. He exposed The p3d0phile of Marcial Maciel in The Hartford Courant in the 97. Recently i Buy his book "Vows of Silence". As a Mexican (Mexico is The birthplace of Maciel and his Criminal group) i admire This incredible Journalist.
The Worst interviewer I've Ever Seen
I missed this session in person and am grateful it's posted online. Thank you.
Hi Bhavna, we went to elementary school together! Always so smart and always offering valuable contributions!!!
Ken Burns is in with Clarence Thomas and Harlan Crow. He's lost all credibility in my opinion. Makes me wonder about the validity of every history piece he's done, how he bent it to cowtow to Crow.
Imagine writing Gentleman in Moscow, and originally not knowing anything about Russia. What an imagination!
I was not able to attend this in person so just now found it on social media. I actually have hope and optimism after a week of utter despair, post debate. We can save our country. And we will!
Thank God Wall Street kept him under cover for 20 years so we now can witness the momentous release of this pure gem of a novelist as he initiates a new American renaissance. 💎
😮
Please read Marshall McLuhan or Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman, to better understand these issues.
Jeffrey Rosen is very bright
Life long learning is much different from 'deep reading', Ken Burns doesn't get it. It's not about the content but rather the process and the medium of literacy, which creates self determination.
Who is this interviewer? She should learn how to let the interview flow. We missed out on many gems Sheila Johnson was trying to deliver bc of her interruptions! 🙄
Katherine Gehl....incented?? That's not a word.🤦🤦 Incentivised is the correct word.😳🤨
Heather Cox Richardson from the 35 minute mark on is absolutely inspiring and amazing. This is the part that gives anyone paying attention hope that is required right now.
My top two non-fiction writers!
Rules of Civility... could not put it down. Towles is a quitessentially a poet. And a great novelist. Best of both worlds.
Bless you Heather. I'm low income and educated. I cannot afford paywalls. Yet I learn. The right wing want destruction . We embrace joy and civility . Thank you all. 💙💙💙💙
The consciousness movement shows we can change. We call it practice.
We need a Living Constitution. Not antiquarian. Conversation and civility is my democracy. Power and dominance are narcissistic and misogynistic. Patriarchy must go.
I adore book fests and am glad I lived in the South where writing was an art. Met Wendell Berry and Adrienne Rich in Nashville.
This was an excellent discussion. I would challenge all of you to take some time to find more scholars of a multitude of races to grow this discussion. Do the same thing to find a way to grow our Democracy and improve what the founding fathers were reaching for in America.
