1KHP K12 March walk around 2024
Переглядів 1,9 тис.28 днів тому
Thanks for coming to check out our 2004 Nissan K12 March racecar. This is primarily a time attack car but has run twice at Leadfoot festival placing around 13th overall each time. It performs well in time attack normally placing on the podium depending on who has entered for the round/season. Weight is around 1200kgs with a near perfect weight split all ways within ~15kgs of perfect 300kgs each...
Widen the racecar and then the trailer
Переглядів 287Місяць тому
It's all very well and good doing a bunch of stuff to your racecar BUT you've got to consider the logistics of some things. the new splitter has a knock on effect requiring a bit of work on the trailer.
Just clear coat the headlights they said..........

New carbon fibre splitter for Crazy 1KHP Nissan March
Переглядів 500Місяць тому
The signboard splitter is getting sidelined and FINALLY a carbon fibre unit has been fabricated! This has been on the list of things I've wanted to get done for a long time now but there were other priorities - there still are and some of them are FAR more important BUT I felt like doing something visually satisfying. It's hard to beat some nice shiny new carbon fibre :)

One of the last steps in this part of the job is removing the super old school Power FC ECU and replacing it with modern tech - a Link G4X Xtreme plug in ECU.

In this video I make a start on the drivers door, it's not in terrible shape for the age of the vehicle but it has suffered from some undesirable events in its life.

Link Razor PDM Updates

A bit over two years in with our Link Razor PDMs and they are running perfectly :) There have been some updates to the software & firmware & also with the pricing structure, in this video I cover some of the basics but watch out for the full details to come officially from Link ECU in the very near future. Yeah I'm going slightly rogue but you love so it's OK :P Previous videos on the subject (...

The exposed plastic parts of the front bumper on our D40 Navara V8 were starting to look a LOT older than their true age so it was time for a quick tidy up.
HUGE new brakes for R33 GTR
Переглядів 3652 місяці тому
The cause of injury for the poor GTR was a failure to reduce the velocity to a value compatible with negotiating turn one at Hampton Downs. In a (pretty decent) attempt to prevent this occurring again the owner has acquired some slightly larger brakes (understatement of the week).

Manta Ray done, Top Force done, RC lab day four
What's the date for your Manfeild trip . I would be keen to see the Super March in person. 👍
19th Jan :)
Ok, tanti cavalli, esteticamente però resta sempre inguardabile
Being realistic about things there are not a lot of Group B rally or time attack cars that could honestly be called good looking. Function over form.
👏🍺👍🏻
happy new year🎉 明けましておめでとう御座います㊗️
What mounts did you use for swap??
modified OEM brackets with bespoke bushes.
you got to be joking ,, didnt film the rebuild
Hello I have a question but it's not related to the content of this video , the nissan vk engine components are very similar ,from the 45de , 50ve and 56de is there any difference in the head castings that would stop interchanging of cams from one to the other ?.
I believe the VK45DE and VK56DE cams are interchangeable possibly, beyond that I'd be doing just the same research you could do to find the answer. The VK50VE is most likely a different configuration due to exh cam variable timing.
@TheLabLimited thank you for responding to my question, I've tried asking nissan engine builders here in nz but no response from them , if you are coming down to ruapuna keep in touch.
@@nathanielbottin9619 unlikely to be heading to Ruapuna any time in the predictable future but ya never know. Nelson from Hartley engines and Motorsport is hugely knowledgeable BUT also extremely busy so his time is very very valuable. There MIGHT be a project coming where we might have some good data acquisition potential so stay tuned for mid next year :)
glad other people also spend way too much time on inconsequential details on their race cars...
ha ha ha!!! it's half the fun ha ha!! It does look HEAPS better though IMO :)
That looks way bettererer, looked like poo poo before!
They look good. Even better on the track.
Clear coat :)
I see what you did there......
What did u use to get the speedo and rpm to work cheers
It was so long ago now that I've forgotten sorry. There was a module we had made to our design for converting a signal from internally in the gearbox to what the dash wanted so the speedo would work. Unsure if this one had a tachometer or not.
so this is a VDK56DE? im trying to do something like this to my Titan! would love to see more updates
Correct, VK56DE with Stillen supercharger kit.
@ that’s absolutely beautiful. Would this end up fitting in the engine bay of a Titan or does this require extreme modifications? I’m sure I’m gonna have to find one of these nuts gonna be hard as it is, but I’m gonna start going through your videos to learn some more! Glad somebody documented this
@@JTDontForgetMyMoney they did literally bolt into the Titan BUT it's been a LONG time since they were in production so it'll be hard to find a decent kit.
Always tinkering, always improving
Re-upload bro audio is out of sync with the video
Just shove a four inch snorkel out the side. In the style of many turbo 4wd nissans. Looks tidy and should flow bettera and a little cooler.
Kind of jams the air in the fender opening. Buckle tf up!
dunno what the world time attack rules are but its a nissan with a nissan motor - would be awesome to see it in australia, obvs lots of cost and agg involved in that
Slight technical hitch with stuffing the motor in the wrong end BUT Nissan did pay a company to put on back there once soooooo LOL!!! I think we could only ever be demo laps - hell of a long way to go for that but ya never know.
Saw Mad Mike commenting that they boost all of his cars to 20psi. He reckons that is the break even point for boost on rotors, add more and thing start to break. I'm wondering if that is true for four strokes as well? Spending money on getting more out of the engine at that boost level might be the best upgrade path, head work, exhaust work, intercooler, radiator and coolers, as well as the obvious weight reduction and aero. Tires and suspension, there are so many options to increase lap times that don't include just turning up the boost. Love this build, following since the Skid Factory visit.
You'll never see me slapping aero and light weight.... oh wait.....

Ugly little monster gonna tear it up! Thanks for the tour!
Found you through that Hillclimb Monsters video, been following ever since! Still appreciate the walk through, because it's the very spirit of what makes the self built element of sprint/hillclimb so fascinating. Cheers Glenn, keep on keeping on.
Thanks for staying on board :) appreciate the support :)
How long are the events you do? no cooling issues with the gearbox or diffs and the flat floor? Also whats the deal with the drain tank for the turbos? Are they mounted too low to drain into the engine? wet or dry sumped engine?
For Superlap we only run eight minute sessions normally but there are non competitive events where it's a fifteen minute session, I normally back off and come in after no more than ten because we will empty the ~35L fuel tank after that. HGT Sequential no issues with temp, runs pretty much bang on where it should be, diffs - I don't care, never measured them and never seen any evidence of problems, transfer case is the one to keep an eye on - it will get up to ~120c after about ten minutes (where we run out of fuel anyway) so first session is totally fine, we do need to watch the temp for following sessions though.
WRONG!!!! The march/micra is a good looking hatch! Interesting drive arrangement. I toyed with a similar concept for a mid engine rear drive but dismissed it due to the complexity. It actually makes a lot more sense if you go 4WD. I ended up building a daihatsu charade with a turbo charged 1MZ V6 mounted east west in the back. Its fun but has too much weight up back so will spit you off backwards with very little warning. Was thinking i wanted to do a K13 micra with front engine rear drive but now im thinking about transaxles again...
Hehe got to see up her skirt with some under garments removed😂. Bloody good show quick question rear drive shaft around passengers side turbo discolored from a leak or did something rub?
Sorry for the slow reply, I had to have a look and try and figure out what you are talking about. Must be the dust from the clutch on the driveshaft just near the bellhousing? No issue there, just dust :)
@TheLabLimited glad it was only some dust. Didn't think it was anything serious.
This should do really well at hill climbing
It would be well suited to the more open flowing type courses found in Europe, not a lot of that sort of thing here unless we go on gravel & this car does NOT like gravel.
What an absolute beastie! Thx for the walk around.
👏👍🏻🍺
Looking great! I just had an idea to add to what you've done - could maybe add a 5mm think by 120mm wide nylon plate (with recessed screws or rivets) the length of each guard along the base of each. Nice and slippery so should help to protect wheels and giant splitters 😉 FYI, I find LEP plastics good to deal with for industrial polymer stock :)
I do have plans for a couple more tweaks. Should be pretty good the way it is, the splitter end plates will be more or less a sacrificial item anyway - they WILL get smashed up over time for various reasons.... feet.... road cones....... ripple strips.... rouge salesmen in the pits etc
so why not make them fold out then put the car on them fold up when loaded
Nah that sort of system ALWAYS flogs itself to death with vibrations etc. Also a nightmare to climb over to get in and out of the car.
An awesome trick i learned, though must be done every couple weeks or so depending on weather, is use a cap full of engine oil and spread it over the headlight lenses. A quart of oil for this specifically, will last years.
I clear headlights, I just use whatever clear I'm using on the vehicle. Never had it crack or wrinkle. I sand off all the factory coating with 1000 dry. Finish with 1200 clean with antistatic and clear. The only thing You can see when done is whatever cracks are on the inside of the lense.
Im impressed
Try some 303 aerospace protectant on your lenses. My bro who lives in NZ had the same issue and stopped them yellowing with regular applications
👏🍺👍🏻
I replaced the lenses on my golf because they were worse then yours. If you can get them cheaper then new lights that could be a go.
supposedly ceramic cook top cleaner is a good polish for old headlights, and its a cheap option.
Ive been watching you channel for a while but only just realised that this is a nissan micra in aus... I have been thinking about a micra converted to rear drive with maybe ve commodore running gear as lemon endurace race car for a while. Such a nice looking little car with some aero!
Use a UV cut clear coat 👍👍... Ex panel beater car painter and car groomer... Always dealing with yellow headlights... If you get new ones eventually put a UV cut clear on them before you fit them
Also... 2k paint will usually react with headlight plastic when applied in a normal (heavyish) manner... Several very light mist coats will work usually... But 1k clear is usually OK for that plastic....
You have to love a project where it is just a small change and then by the end you have rebuilt the whole thing and extensively re-engineered it.
It's never as easy as first planned ha ha!!
love this car! great work... makes me want to be better with fibreglass
I absolutely LOVE how you introduced this video. 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Thank You.
Hope the ice cream was 👍
it was eight dollars for a single cone so opted out and let the girls enjoy thiers.
Can you stand on it.... If not it will break at high speeds 😮😂.... Nice work
That's not really how it works - but I know that's the golden internet standard so I tested it today. It can take 93Kgs of Glenn plus all attire and boots etc on one foot right in the middle at the front. So yip, it passes the "stand on it" test
Hi can I ask question what make are those stainless steel hoses for the air filter

Hi Glenn. Just wandering if you know if the steering rack in the bedford is the original rack, or has it been replaced with something else. Cheers.
It's a power steering rack out of a 70s - 80s Porsche, I can't give you much more info than that sorry as it was installed about 19yrs ago, I was around at the time but was all organized by wifey's uncles friend EI: nothing to do with me LOL!!
