A short UAV Video of 1 of the only 2 Russian Towers that remain in Berlin. Sorry it is short, I was a victim of DJI's failed firmware update, which almost caused me to lose my Phantom on more than one occasion. Who would have thought, 20 years from the time I was going through Checkpoint Charlie, I'd be droning a tower; thank you "President Ronald Reagan."

Long before fur traders, soldiers and settlers came to the Maumee Valley, the river and its banks were studded with Indian villages. In 1794 General Anthony Wayne marched his legion down along the river to the site the French called Roche de Boeuf, a large island outcropping of natural limestone where the Ottawa Indians held their councils. Opposite it on the west bank Wayne contructed Fort Dep...

Had to repost, realized my guages needed a little attention. My favorite spot of the Maumee River. Historical location of the Natve areas of Northwest Ohio, along with an early French Settlement dating back to the early 1700's.

Testing the POI function for the Phantom 3 Advanced. Nothing better to test POI than a Water Tower. It performed excellent, the flight logs show a perfect circle around the tower.

Crossing the Rhine River with the P3... in the same area where General Patton's 3rd Army crossed on the race to Berlin. The very same location the #Bar 145 Toledo Traveling Burger made a surprise appearance on the Nazi side of the river.

While in Germany, I took out the P2V for a test flight. Moments later, a curious neighbor comes up to say hi. He has a friend that works at Zweibrucken Airport and was very interested in the drone. Although he was very nervous, I had him up and flying in no time.... taking videos and photos of his house at 7 Bitscher Str, Contwig Germany. I hope he gets a chance to see this.

I was there from 82 till 85. Thanks for the memories
Thank you for the video. I was there in 1990-1991. It looks so different than what I remember.
I was here 84-86. I remember walking up and down one street to the recreation building where we had fun. 😂 We walked to the Bowling alley to hang out for lunch. This video shed some light on the whereabouts, because I walked to Homburg to shop (and that felt great) and caught a bus to school.😮 Why?
I'm an airforce brat and our family lived in Pauline Betz's house Bergstrasse 9 from '64-'69. I loved Contwig so much and am homesick for it still.
Nice to see, although it is from 2016/ We haven living ere 1993-1997
Hi.
Groet Albert
I used to work for American Express , paying soldier's paychecks in 1960-1962.
Nice video. At 6:01 into the video you have indicated the exact spot where my Vermont ancestors fjorded the Maumee (Hull's Crossing) on their westward migration to Iowa and eventually South Dakota. As a Toledoan, I played and waded in this crossing as a kid, not knowing that my ancestors in the 1850's, had passed through the exact same spot.
I was there from Jun 1992 to Jun 1993. I was with 5th Signal. I worked in the telecommunications center.
Thanks for this! I lived there in the early 90s but I see my barracks have been torn down (probably for the best LOL). It was so great to see the little chapel that I worked at still standing after all this time.
My dad was stationed there from 76-80, I remember it all. I went to that elementary school there and I played football on that same field. I remember going to the movie theater often there. I miss Christmas time there in Germany!
REMEMBERING THAT, THE VIEW ABOUT THAT TRACK, USE TO BE A BASEBALL AND/OR SOFTBALL PARK AND THE TRACK USE TO BE ROCKS. PT FOR SOME OF US. I USE TO BE, USMCAZ, SOM3 OTHERS FROM 200 TAMSIC, 63RD FINANCES, ETC.... I WAS WITH THE 21ST SUPPORT COMMAND. THEM. I HAVE A GOOD TIMES THERE AND MEMORIES.
THE BUILDING AT THE END ON THE BEGINNING, USE TO BE THE BOWLING ALLEY, THEN THE MESS HALL, PX AND THEM, HOUSINGS, NCO CLUB, ETC, I'M CAN'T GO FURTHER, BECAUSE OF MY CLEARANCE. I'M BEEN SEEING, CHANGED SIN I WAS, THERE. STILL REMEMBERING A LOT OF THAT BASE.
So Awesome grew up here Dad was stationed here was here from 1977-1986 it's cool to see what I would remember as our housing and base lot of great childhood memories 👍👍👍 thanks
Was there not a bowling alley at the end of the field? Many bowling memories from 69-74.
Tf
I was stationed there Aug87-Aug90, A/3-44 ADA. Great memories of my first duty assignment and all those great Americans and civilians that I served with. The Battery HQ and billets, and Rod & Gun are gone, but not the memories and professional development skills that molded me to this day. Thank you sir for the trip down memory lane.
I was there the same time... 59th MP across the street.
@@RCFantom Small world. I worked with a husband and wife later in the 101st, whom I believe were LTs in your unit, that were there the same time. We all were in same BN.
Stinger Platoon 2/60th-3/44 94th Brigade 87-90
Damn its been 7 years the place has changed a lot
Played flag football there
Is that near Kaiserslautern Hochschule Zweibrücken campus ?
I have a beautiful painting titled Contwig Bridge..It is a lovely painting of a home with flower boxes in the windows, is there a waterway in the city of Contwig? I live in America in Dallas Texas....
Lived there as a Brat for a couple years around '84. Played American Football on the field you launched from. Worked as a Yard Boy for the building I lived in. Wasn't there a big hill near the housing that everyone went sledding on in the winter? Or, did it just seem like a big hill due to me being like 10 years old?
Holy nostalgia! My dad was stationed there starting in late '89/early '90 until about fall '92. Finished Kindergarten and spent all of 1st grade @ Kruezberg Elementary. I started 2nd grade in Wisconsin while my dad was deployed, finished 2nd grade @ Kruezberg, then started 3rd grade there before we moved back to the US for good. I don't remember who I finished 5K with. For 1st grade my teacher was Peggy Gordon. For 2nd grade, I had Mr Johnson. I don't remember his first name. For 3rd grade, I had Mrs. Chibaro, and I can't remember her name either. If anyone sees this and remembers me from back then, feel free to get in touch. That includes my old teachers. All the best everyone!
I loved it there, thank you.
I went to the school 85-87. Was Fraulein Zutter still the Herman teacher when you were there?
Went to elementary school here from 1971 to 1973. Lived at Grossbudenbach and Zweibrucken Air Force base housing. I was eleven to thirteen years old.
We lived on base in Family housing from early 1972, to 1975. I remember the building was white with dark green roof and trim. The back yard bordered a family farm. I used to stick my fingers through the fence to try to pet the farmers chickens until one pecked my fingers, tore them up. I still have photos from that time. I was 3 months when we got there, three years old when we left...
I live here now since June 2021 in the building that had had number 4204
I live there from 89 - 91
Wow......KB doesn't look the same. I was in A Battery from 87-90 "King of the Hill"..........Thanks for this.
My dad was in A battery! I wonder if you knew each other...

@@RCFantom Amen to that. I love my years in Kreuzberg (Sunny Zwei)
Great job! We lived in Contwig from '86 to '89 when we were stationed at Zweibrucken Air Base. Brings lots of memories!
i could see my grandmas house.
well done!!!
Best view of Zweibrucken Army Base I can find on the Web so far. I lived at here from the fall of '73 -'fall of '76. I can see many changes but much remains unchanged. I attended junior high school at Zweibrucken Air Force Base, 30 minutes away, by bus. Sure would like to see that from the air.
Nice to see the place I grew up. Lived there from 84 to 92
Stationed on K-Berg from 87 - 93...
Jassen Johnston thanks for the reply to the video.... I was there from 87 thru 93.
Spent many a night at Hugos in Contwig 77-79
Wow this was before the library was built
What a great trip down memory lane! I'm an Army brat who's father married a sweet girl from Contwig in 1954. We lived in Contwig with my Oma, Tante and family for 6 years when I was young. I spent many mornings walking with my Oma into town for brotchen. We always stopped at the candy store and I got Milka for the brotchen and a few gummy's. Stopped at the Swartzbach to feed the swans some bread crumbs. My family still lives there and I took screen shots of our homes :) You covered them perfectly! Thank you, I'm crying happy tears.
So glad to hear that.... My wife is from there also.... I was station in Kreuzberg in the 80's. Just love Contwig...
Wow I used to got to Kreuzberg Elementary, thanks for the video.
Thank you!!!!! Lived there on base from 1978-1983. Loved getting an aerial view of the old building I used to live in and the buildings I used to do "lawn" work at- amazing how much was left of the original base! Again, thank you for sharing this out!
What’s up Scott.. Everything looks so different now. I remember you from zwei high.hope all is well!

+~Jalubud~{RC} Yes, I know, My wife's mother lives in that neighborhood. I wanted to capture the footage for historical reasons...
Thank you from Canada for sharing your flight over Contwig. My father was posted at the Canadian Forces base ( 3 Wing) 1961-65. We lived on Gutenbrunnenstrabe where that street meets Bergstrab during those years I could pick out the house I lived in and other sites I use to play as a child on your video brought back to many fond memories of my childhood in Germany. Once again, thank you for your flight and upload. Wally, Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Canada
Kyle: My father was at 3 Wing, too, and we lived at 9 Bergstrasse in Contwig from 1964 - 1969. My two sisters and I had a truly fairy-tale childhood in that beautiful little village. We talk about it still. And I miss that place so much!
It is just "that kind of town"
thanks
