José Rizal returned to the Philippines despite the dangers to his life because of his deep love for his country and his desire to contribute to its progress and liberation from Spanish oppression. Below are the main reasons for his return: 1. To Help His Fellow Filipinos Rizal believed that his presence in the Philippines would inspire and strengthen the Filipino people’s resolve to fight for reform. He wanted to personally observe the conditions in his homeland and directly address the injustices suffered by his countrymen. 2. To Implement His Reform Plans While in exile in Europe, Rizal founded La Liga Filipina in 1892, an organization aimed at promoting peaceful reforms, such as: • Equal rights for Filipinos under Spanish rule. • Economic and educational improvements. Rizal wanted to oversee its implementation and unite Filipinos in a peaceful movement for change. 3. To Prove His Innocence Rizal returned to the Philippines to defend himself against accusations of inciting rebellion. He believed that his writings, such as Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, had been misinterpreted as promoting violence, and he wanted to clarify his intentions to the Spanish authorities. 4. To Fulfill His Personal Mission Rizal often wrote about his duty to his homeland, famously stating: “I am a Filipino, and I seek the good of my country and its people.” He saw his life as dedicated to serving the Philippines and believed his return was necessary to achieve this. 5. Family and Personal Reasons Rizal also had strong ties to his family and friends in the Philippines. He was concerned about the persecution they faced because of his activism and wanted to support them in person. Outcome of His Return Rizal’s return in 1892 marked the beginning of a series of events that led to his arrest, exile to Dapitan, and eventual execution in 1896. Despite his tragic fate, his courage inspired the Philippine Revolution and cemented his place as a national hero.

I hate to be a Debbie downer but reality is, Filipinos only like foreigners, especially white.. anyone light skinned basically. Same for their fellow Filipinos. They only like lighter skinned ones who are skinny. They call you fat if you by God are a size 6/7. Their friendliness is selective. So sorry to say but it’s true.

Absolutely true! I was overseas one time, attended a church and met a Filipino. The next Sunday, she's with her family, and on that same day her older sister suddenly just invited me over for her daughter's birthday party the following week, where I met other Filipinos and became so close 😂 Filipinos are known for having a strong sense of community and I am proud of that
