There is no license required to do roofing in UK? If there is, I guess the folks who pay cash to guys for a non licensed job are pretty foolish. If you ARE required to have a license, it would be easy enough to have the licensed folks and their contact information on a gov website. If they commit fraud, remove their license and their name from the site. Why is this difficult?

Im no roofer but ive replaced a few flat roofs before and even my jobs weren't that bad! Mind it was only me that could complain.

Emergency repair, acropol does work well used in the right conditions, temp fix obviously, but it does work.., in fact I’ve repaired a few jobs (leaky chimney backs etc) and it does the job so well…the customer would rather wait for it to fail than have the job done correctly..,.. That rubber roofing isn’t for me on a job that size tbh.

Cant be using a heavy hammer like that for slate....and use couple battens nails either side of slate to see-saw/pivot the slate onto the head batten.

Birdsmouths at the wallplate would be a start, with plenty of cross anchored screws. 35 years of construction tells me to take the lot down and start again. If that's the state of the roof, there will be lots of other issues throughout. They are the jobs you get involved in to help mates out. Otherwise, you'd walk away and say good luck to the customer!

Hya mate you no your slate pal go too clanberris in Wales a mint site an old quarry with all the old tackle they show how they used too split slate and dress them by the thousands it would make a great video for the outlaw and it will put some old slate heritage on the map,a hell of a lot of people died getting us that rock too bang on have a look pal take care all its the slate museum in Wales lovely drive there and a lovely place I've only been there about 25 times ahhaaaa
