Did it lessen the heat?
I think it did. I don’t have any means to quantify it but generally yes, less heat when just sitting static at light or something.
My mpx is a bullseye killer right out of the box
I wish mine was. It was fine with the stock bird cage. But any modification just destroyed accuracy.
@ I got the ilwt tapered spacer and the lantac dragon works great
May the PORK be with you 😉
How’s the heat?
Seems to be less on my leg than with stock. Passenger seems less as well, wouldn’t want to rest a hand on it but it’s not gunna torch you just grazing it.
Is there a risk to the engine if we have the slash cuts and no cat? O read somewhere that Triumph doesn’t recommend it
I looked and looked and can’t find backing by Triumph saying not to do it. Allegedly, the 15 minutes of idling adjusts the air/fuel mixture with the decat.
I understand the catyalitic converter is located in the end piece (muffler section) of the exhaust, as opposed to older models where it was at the other end, nearer the headers. If you carry out the modification in this video on a 2024 bike, are you removing the cat as well?
Yes. This would be a de-cat with these pipes.
@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc Ok thanks, the bikes run better, fuel consumption deceases and the heat generated in the exhaust, is also vastly reduced by removing the cat converter and they say the cat converter is good for the environment? Makes you wonder.
Did you have to tune the bike after installing the aftermarket pipes? I just reserved a 1200 xe icon edition and wanted the british customs shotgun exhaust. Dont want the bike running too lean
I want to say anything 2024 and beyond you can’t tune with a power commander etc. I’ve read that it’s a closed loop ecu. After I installed I just idled the bike for about 15 minutes. This supposedly allowed the ecu to adjust idle fuel/air mix to adjust the fuel change. I have not noticed excessive heat from being lean. The only time I’ve had the fan kick on the bike was during that 15 minute idle.
Hell yeah man. Hey I got one more question....is that paint on the tank a metallic black? It almost looks like it but I can't tell. Either way bike looks dope
I have the 2023 XE which i managed to get just before the 2025 model came out and they ditched the olins shocks and Brembo brakes. I'm around 175cm so i fitted the TEC rear lowering springs and dropped the front forks a little. Now i can almost flat foot both sides giving me more confidence, it's a heavy bike hey. Ride safe man 👍
It will be a sad day if I ever lay this thing over. I have to be strategic where I park due to the height of this bike.
I'm 6' 1" and I just got a 1200XC. The "X" was just too stripped down so I found a very lightly used XC with a bunch of mods already. (I made a video and will have more mod vids) I turned 47 and haven't ridden for 3 years on account of my bad back, but the XC has fully adjustable suspension and more travel than I've ever had, so it feels much nicer to my spine. I sat on an XE at the dealer yesterday just to see if I was sure, and it's still tippy-toes for me. Sweet looking bike you got though, I like the blacked-out look.
Thanks man. I just winterized it today. Put some fuel stabilizer in and ran it to the gas station for a top off. Battery is on the tender now.
@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc Same thing I did today, ha. The weather was finally in the 40's. I always use a battery tender when it's parked. No more stranded bikes with a low battery.
Omg y’all, why so much shade? These slash cuts sound great IRL. Dude I love your bike- I know how great it is because I have one too!
Right on dude. Unfortunately winter is here and even heated grips won’t get me on the bike when it’s under 30 outside.
@ omg- I’m trying not to take our long riding season in central Texas for granted!
Killer bike!! Yeah my inseam is like 31” and I’m on one of these- I just got used to it. Bike is freakin unstoppable!!! And beautiful!! I just saved my pennies and got the Zard high pipes-SO WORTH IT. KILLER sound, and they look phenomenal. TEC’s 2-1 pipe sounds really good and is like 1/4 the price..
I test rode a 1200 XC (last years model) at a demo truck event a few weeks ago. Their demo unit’s exhaust sounded incredible, throaty and LOUD. My friend and I asked about it- it turned out that the exhaust was stock, BUT they removed the stock baffles. Maybe give that a shot, and you may save yourself some dinero!
In the realm of exhaust, these pipes are cheap comparatively to others. I think around $500ish. Whereas the Zard ones were well over $1k. I bored the stock pipes on my super duke and they were perfect.
its got 6 gears mate
But I like 4 and 5 the best.
I have the 24 1200x. I just put the Total Triumph Slash Cut pipes on mine. Where did you get the heat shield for the back of the pipes? Thanks mate. Great video and I love the sound of my pipes as well. Pretty loud but I’ve ordered a set of baffles that might make it a bit quieter?
I just use the baffles it came with. For long trips I use “ride” ear plugs to take the edge off. The heat shields I got were from britishcustoms.com/products/shotgund-slip-on-exhaust-heat-shield-for-triumph-scrambler-models?srsltid=AfmBOorf5bzEnIh7fgHgoH2Wo0seLmo1i3lxF6v9v3-Qd7ilKTf3SLaB. Thanks for watching.
I’m 6’1” and I love the look of this bike and I’d definitely be using off-road some so my question would be is there any issues with that exhaust heating up your leg when you are riding? I do like the sound of those slash cuts too!
I have yet to really feel any damaging heat on my leg. Those factory heat shields do pretty well with stock or slash cuts. But the exhaust is cooler per se with the slash cuts. Being a short guy I always have to have my legs right on it when I’m tip toeing out of somewhere.
You're going to absolutely love your bike. I purchased a 2019 1200 EX about three years ago and made it my own. The bike is great for trails and log road road trips. I've hard mounted a 48 Liter Givi Trekker to the left hand side of the bike, triangular clear Auxbeam flood lights and medium Madstad windshield for long back road trips. The bike is superba at just about everything. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy my 1200XE.
So far I am. I’m looking at the madstad for interstate or longer trips. I’m used to being pushed around by the wind but it would be nice to change that.
well done ruining a great motorcycle WOW that sounds so bad wtf
lol. K
DUDE SO COOL
steady sound.... WTF YOU DID TO HER?
up 65 its like a clock hahaaaa
wrf?
Good video and helpful.
Great bike!!! Test it, love it.
Running out of riding time here. 24 degrees this morning.
PS: you can get triumphs accessory cruise control on an 1200X. I have a 1200xe myself and I’m only 5-6’
I did not know that. I think I would’ve stayed with the XE regardless.
Top 👍 Thank you.
Thank you.
Thanks mate, do these pipes come with removable silencers or are they just straight through.
@@backtrackbiker9140 Came with baffles. This video is with baffles installed.
You never invite me over for Prime Rib like that but I get all the invites for smoked chicken feet and your famous haggis dinner.
did you pay like 13$ for that prime rib lookds like it came from walmart lol
It came off a donated cow.
I feel like you should've waited on the butter and use it to baste during the searing point, because smoking low and slow means it just melted off and did really not much, plus you want the butter froth for the flavor on beef. Butter just cause flare ups here tbh. Looks good though.
I did taste a bit of the butter, however, I agree. Most of it melted off prior to a sear.
Incorporate lol
Awesome beans, man
120-125 internal
I used to be one of those who actually thought it was correct to eat beef “well done.” Man was I wrong! If you haven’t tried a quality cut of beef cooked Rare to Medium Rare (my preference), you haven’t lived. I add garlic and Rosemary when in the pan. Not much salt needed either. Don’t forget the pepper. 😀👍👍👍😋
So true
Looks good
This guy shaved his mustache in the middle of his video, but didn’t change his shirt👍👍
It wasn’t laundry day yet…jk.
Did you have to caulk the shed too where two pieces of wood met? My heartland shed that’s 4x8 feet says to do this but I hear you really don’t have to, and that you can just paint it.
I did as added protection. If your T-111 siding is perfectly aligned you probably don’t need to.
@@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc My shed doesn’t have this type of siding that you’re talking about, t-111. It’s just a heartland wooden shed and the wood is like a solid piece with no grooved lines unlike yours with the t-111 siding. It’s just a solid piece. I guess this is the best way I can describe it. Anyhow, for the corners, I do believe they are airtight or perfectly done because when I went into the shed before it was almost pitch black inside, and this was during the day. Nonetheless I’ll still caulk the corners prior to paining.
@@w.7407 I have been debating a small air vent because I want to put some gas cans in there. But I do not want them to fume on hot days and build up.
@@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc oh you should totally do it actually, because my 4 x 8 heartland wooden shed actually does have air vents in it. It’s the walls on the side, on one wall the air vent is closer to the bottom while on the opposite wall it’s closer to the top closer to the ceiling. Apparently that was done for a reason, so cool air comes in from the bottom, and then the hot air will be circulated out at the top.
The way you sliced the cheese tho!
Lmao
Do you have a cost breakdown? It seems like things added up quick and became a $1,100 build
I don’t have a line by line breakdown. It was roughly $1,400. Which I compared to sheds I looked at that were similar build I saved anywhere between $1-2k. Also the satisfaction of doing it myself.
@@TheWhiskeyChronicles-zu9vc Thanks for your response! Good job with the build, and yes, definitely satisfying knowing you built it yourself and saving tons by doing it
I just got done with mine. 4 x 8’ just like yours, and it’s a beautiful site. Now I have to insulate the inside because it gets hot inside. Even with air vents, I’ll need to add some sort of one inch insulation inside. Polyboard kinda by a company called R-tech.
I plan on adding a couple vents but no insulation.
You gotta peel the membrane off the back of pork ribs brother. You’ll be surprised how much better the eat!
Pretty sure it was already off. The last Costco ones I bought they were already off and I just don’t even check anymore.
I'm a pitboss and they do look good but I've cooked so many that I can't eat them anymore!!😊
I’ve been waiting sooooooo long for the next upload.
No bark?
How many hours did you run it for?
About 8hrs total.
Cup is dumb but funny for slow people
You made that look easy lol.
Nice work!
Smoke it real good!
