16 yr Old Bandon Grammar Schoolboy, Louis Archer, Touch Line Rugby Kick for Munster U17βs.
16 yr Old Touch Line left footed Amazing kick by Outhalf. Into the wind, wrong foot, acute angle with an opposing player charging him down. Louis Archer, Bandon Grammar School playing for Munster U17βs v Sale. August 2019. Even more dramatic kick 2 years earlier where last kick of the game, in atrocious conditions, put his school into the Junior Cup Final for the first time ever.

I have put an air cooled 5.5 hp Lawnmower Engine on a 6 hp Evinrude Outboard Engine. I have also made the engine into a short shaft from it's original long shaft by removing a housing section and shortening the drive shaft. The project has worked out brilliantly and really pushes the boat along. Feel free to like and subscribe.

Just the video i needed for inspiration π it seemed pretty clever, with the socket. Thank you for sharing.
why post a video with all that shitty wind blowing
Lol or you can just buy a good outboard. I have a 1999 Suzuki 9.9 its 22 years old and it still runs great starts on the 2nd pull.
I have a 1968 Evinrude 6 and it does the same. The mower project was more of βI wonder if that would workβ sort of day out. ππ
Excellent. If you were to find a carburetor engine with a pump diaphragm like from a lawn tractor, you could carry the fuel in a larger tank inside the boat, and have even more horsepower to boot. But it's probably not too much bother to carry a petrol can in the boat and refuel with it when the tank gets empty. Sometimes simple is better.
Cheers. I use it as an auxiliary on my 25 foot Arvor and it moves it at about 4 knots. I have it in a sleeping bag below deck with an empty fuel tank. In case of use I can put it on the back, tank filled with fuel, and running in under a minute. That way I donβt tie up a valuable outboard ππ
How fast it goes
It pushes this 4 m plastic boat along at about 9 knots
@@Ivan-Archer oh yeah, thatβs pretty good for a 5 horse on a 4 metre
@@videomaker8207 Iβm now using it as an auxiliary on my 8m Arvor. She makes about 4 knots. Ideal set up as itβs a cheap rarely used alternative to a β¬1500 engine tied up doing nothing. I keep it below deck wrapped in a sleeping bag with the petrol in separate container. Put the petrol in and it t starts first time every time.
Having recently found a 4m on a rubbish dump and successfully refurbished it, this outboard is the natural partner for such a boat. My tip shop has a few old OBs I can pick up the lower from. Thanks for the inspiration. I really like your use of the socket set. Awesome work.
Well itβs still flying along and Iβm now using it as an auxiliary on my 25 foot Arvor. I keep it below deck in a sleeping bag with the petrol in a separate container. Tested it in August and I had it out at set up in 2 minutes and started first whip and pushed the boat along at about 4-5 knots. Great job and no expensive outboard tied up to probably never be used.
@@Ivan-Archer yep, I also have an 8.5m custom alum. with twin ob. (Arvors are lovely mate, it was the top of my list but i just could not find a good used one cheap enough (because they are great boats there are no cheap used ones!) congrats!) Anyway the only part of the boating experience i dread is when your returned home, towed this huge thing and parked it, your exhausted after spending 2 days out fishing or whatever and then you have to flush the motors.... with these no flushing. What a dream. Even harder if your at a mooring and there is no clean water to flush Its great to hear yours is still kicking and that join with a socket still holds. If you can move your 25' fibreglass at 4-5knt that is very impressive... and useful. So enjoyed your video. Thanks!
β@Ivan-Archer My Dad used to fish way on out in the blue water, off Big Pine Key Florida, and kept a little emergency put- put motor to come home with, of the 302cu in. quit on him. He said that would be a long way to paddle! He heard that, if you were running two outboards tied together on the transome, you could run a little motor like that and actually make a difference in your speed, if you were trying to out-run a storm. Just a little something to put onto the idea mix, if you find yourself close to a water spout! He said to put the boat on the trailer and shove a 55 gallon barrel under it almost full of fresh water, and run it a few minutes, every time you had it in the ocean. Bill, from Tn. πΊπΈ
How much do you think that entire engine setup weighs?
Good question. Iβve never weighed it but it feels slightly less than the standard one. If I get a chance later Iβll weigh it.
@@Ivan-Archer I'd be interested to know. Appreciate it.
@@bgsymalone Sorry for the delay it slipped my mind. It weighs 26 KGβs. Iβve recently built a powder coating set up so thatβs my next task for this project. Levers, covers etc can all be done. Used on Saltwater so pretty vital.
@@Ivan-Archer way lighter than I expected. No need to apologize, I appreciate the response. Looks like I'll be going this route. I'll be following your build!
Another video for lawnmowers said you can bend the governor arm to speed up, (dont mess with the gov. Screw) these engines can run faster without issue. You can look up the rpms get a cheep tachometer. I have a 3hp dinky out board and hoping to get a 4hp mower for the Frankenstein build. Not sure if it will fit such a small out board lower half. Great build. Thems ar going fr about 8-1000 bucks.π€ππ.
Can you also show us you upgrades too
Can you please make another video of how you mounted it together
how much hp on it and its still running?? Thanks
Hi there. It has a 5hp motor and it is still in every day use. Running well and Iβm slowly replacing all mild steel bits with stainless or plastic coating the really difficult bits.
How do you turn off the engine?
I wired the outboard stop switch to the mower stop wire which simply goes to ground and cuts the spark. I tried to use everything I could on the outboard bit. Itβs on its third summer now and in everyday use.
Like how did you hook up the switch thank
There are two wires coming from the tiller arm switch. This switch is normally open. One of the wires connects to the mower coil wire and the other is bolted to the engine. When the switch is pressed the coil wire is connected to ground and kills the spark.
Turn the engine off by pulling the spark plug wire off the plug π
Great conversion
I don't understand why you leave the water-pump in the leg? Or not remove the impeller?

Did he do something good? I don't understand..
Basically he kicked a clean goal under: 1) pressure from players running full speed to block his shot 2) distance of roughly 40.5m away (he is standing at the edge, ~34m, and behind the 22m line). Hope it helped π
3)plus the awkward angle from goal
4) with his left foot and so onβ¦

He should settle down in Fiji. They are in dire need of a good kicker for the 15-game. In 5 years he would be eligible.
Dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can stream all the new movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my gf during the lockdown :)
@Benicio Kai Yup, I've been using InstaFlixxer for years myself :D
Little prat charging down needed a straight left when kicking it.
The people charging down were LEGAL
After examining it several times Arna I think you are right and the players who charged were legal and doing their job. The rest probably assumed heβd miss.
No were not legal at all
It's important that you learn the rules, Arna. The players charging down were doing so *illegally* precisely because they began their rush to the kicker not as the kicker was moving forward toward the ball for his kick, but rather moving backward as part of his alignment. Only once the kicker begins moving forward for his kick can the opposition begin their charge-down.
@@rh5466 Law 8.14: "All opposing players retire to their goal line and do not overstep that line until the kicker begins the approach to kick. When the kicker does this, they may charge or jump to prevent a goal but must not be physically supported by other players in these actions". The law doesn't intimate that you need to move towards the ball for a charge to begin, but merely that you have initiated movement towards a goal kick, whether backwards or forwards. A case in reference would be when Peter Stringer charged down James O'Connor in a Wallabies-Barbarians game a few years back.
@@SB-th8uc thanks for the actual reference to the law!
Brilliant...no more costly services and the engine can be used for other purposes when not being used on a boat... nothing worse than the expensive outboard sitting around not earning it's keep for 50 weeks of the year....thanks for the vid ...
Yeah it worked out really well and is still flying. Engines with blown power heads are numerous and no shortage of good mower engines. Any Saturday morning in a recycling centre will get you one of those.
The people charging down were illegal
Yup. Had he missed it ref may well have let him retake it.
@@Ivan-Archer Nice kick aswell
They left as he motioned his right foot backwards at 0:04 so it was legal, great kick under pressure nonetheless
@@LeByron When he takes a step forward, it is towards the ball. He is coming nearer to the ball. That would suggest that he is approaching. That would suggests that the opposition could charge to block the kick. He isn't approaching the ball when he steps backwards, which is when they started to charge down.
@@hse4599 I see what you're saying but the law is "begins the approach to kick" not "approaches the ball". His first step backward is a part of his approach as it is fluid with the rest of his forward approach.
How fast did you get going with that set up
If you didnβt have to shorten it the rest is actually very straight forward and could be done in an afternoon if you assembled the bits before starting. The gear change being where it was helped a lot. Used it all summer without a hitch.
How fast is that motor
I think he means knots/mph
