Read Never Tell several years ago and I enjoyed it. I'm not a sci-fi reader, but yet I like the way John Marrs ties a tiny bit of sci-fi into some of his thrillers. I see that Elizabeth Bell's series is available on K/U. I'll check them out.

I am constantly amazed at the way some people seem to think that people living a few hundred years ago weren’t human people. It’s like they want to think slavery wasn’t that bad because they don’t think the enslaved people were really people. I’m sure I don’t understand what their lives were like and the hard decisions they had to make, but I do know that they were people with thoughts and feelings and pains trying to be happy while dealing with all those horrific circumstances
