BRACENET Save the seas. Wear a net.
The coast of Africa did not only confront us with beautiful seaside in 2015 but with nets floating in the water. Lost or discarded fishing nets are one of the biggest dangers to marine life. To raise awareness, we create something new out of these ghost nets. With Bracenet we take on responsibility and make a contribution to marine protection. We can not recover every net on our own and prevent ghost gear. But with the help of our partners (Healthy Seas, Ghost Fishing, Nofir) as well as the close collaboration with science, politics, businesses and with the support of people, who are carrying our mission, we approach our goal.
Bracenet X The Outlaw Ocean Project | Lawlessness at sea
The Outlaw Ocean Project is a non-profit journalism organization that produces high-impact investigative stories about lawlessness at sea. Bracenet supports the project with a special Bracenet!
Two-thirds of the earth's surface are covered by oceans - and two-thirds of the oceans are beyond the jurisdiction of any country. The high seas form a vacuum of law where international agreements are legally binding, but nobody is there to enforce them. Illegal fishing, piracy and theft, dumping of oil and arms, even murder and slavery - the oceans are home to many dark secrets. Without borders, there are no effective laws; when nobody is watching, there is no witness; and when nothing is questioned, there is nothing to report.
But a few people are exploring this area of lawlessness, most notably Ian Urbina. Since 2015, the investigative journalist has been reporting his findings from five years of research on international waters in the New York Times. In 2019, he published them in his book "The Outlaw Ocean". He now continues his work with The Outlaw Ocean Project: The editorial team informs about crimes on the high seas and the accompanying environmental, human rights and labour rights violations.
Bracenet supports this important organisation with a special Outlaw Ocean Bracenet. For every Outlaw Ocean Bracenet sold, we donate 2 euros to The Outlaw Ocean Project, in addition to our 1-euro donation to Healthy Seas

BRACENET | SAVE THE SEAS. WEAR A NET.
Bracenets mission is to retrieve ghost nets from the ocean with our partners, as well as prevent them from polluting the oceans in the first place. We strive towards a world where no more nets are drifting through our oceans. The oceans are drowning in plastic waste, much of which is made up of lost or deliberately dumped fishing nets. These do what they do best: keep fishing. Thus, millions of...

Diese tun, was ...
Bracenet X Mare Foundation | Protect the baltic sea from ghost nets
In 2020, the Koloberg Fish Producers Group and the Mare Foundation retrieved over 3 tonnes of ghost nets from the Baltic. Bracenet upcycled some of them into a special edition of bracelets! Approximately 640.000 tonnes of derelict fishing gears end up in the oceans every year. Which makes them accounting for about 10% of all ocean plastic. Those so called „ghost nets“ have a negative impact on ...
Bracenet Tags made from recycled scuba tanks.
Recycling meets upcycling! Together with a small metal foundry from Hamburg we turned discarded scuba tanks into recycled Bracenet tags. First the old, discarded scuba tanks get melted down and turned into new Bracenet tags. Each tag is professionally casted by hand and is one of a kind. They are then engraved by us in Hamburg and turned into a perfect match for your Bracenet or keychain to set...

Bracenet - The story

A vacation in Tanzania has turned the lives of our founders Madeleine and Benjamin upside down. As backpackers they were on the road in the African country in September 2015 and saw ghost nets for the first time. The oceans are drowning in a flood of plastic waste. Right now, a giant trash vortex 4.5 times the size of Germany, the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, is drifting through the North Pacif...

What is the liquid used to wash and clean the cigarette butts with and where does that liquid end up
Absolut genial, ich liebs

Hey I am from India and I want to work with you so how can I contact
Making cigarette butts into ashtrays? RYFR That is some mega cringe right there, why not make them into pipes for meth addicts while you're at it!
That already exists: it’s called the needle exchange program where the government takes nasty ass needles and gives new clean ones to addicts, with our tax dollars! I’d rather fund this program!! And to my understanding they just started a safer smoking kit that contains everything to promote smoking drugs (except a pipe). Still rather ashtrays
enfach nut toll
Also embalming fluid pollutes ground water when someone is embalmed for a funeral and buried and can never be undone.
But there is no 80-degree heat in the oceans and lakes ...
Still loved the positive impact this company is making! ❤️❤️
Also living in new mexico I can guarantee these cigarette butts don't end up the the ocean
Okay but everything is biodegradable. Literally everything. Fungus is the number one decomposer on this planet with bacteria as number two. Under the right conditions and with the right organisms literally everything is biodegradable
*Can you explain your process of washing said cigarette butts?* Do you use certain chemicals? or use standard? laundry detergent or all-natural ingredients? personally, I'd like to know... So my mother doesn't react to the nicotine smell of the cigarette butts. *Is it possible to make paper from cigarette butts?* Instead of extruding them into pellets (otherwise known as nurdles) which can easily pollute other areas (Michigan has a huge nurdle problem and I'd rather not have any more nurdles on my local beaches)

Gratuliere!!! ♡
Danke! :)
Congrats! The Bracenets are so cool 😄
3. Wenn es hilft, warum nicht ?!
Hast du überhaupt... irgendetwas verstanden?!
@@SsesraVGN Klar. Was sollte man denn nicht verstehen?
question, what if i buy fish, that bag dissolve because of wet fish?
Very important

Hi, I really enjoy your video and I think wht you are doing is great work on the earth. Do you have plan to record processing of cleaning the nets? I'm really curious abt it.
Can it withstand environmental heat???
Thanks, how much the bags machine?
I never Knew discarded cig butts could be so harmful. That's why we need ppl like JENNI & ERNIE to HIGHLIGHT BRACENET AND TERRACYCLE to bring this to OUR ATTENTION.
Hi how do I get in touch with Mr. Simpson?
Can you tell me the full process in detail pls ??
They collect them, separate them, wash them, and melt them into pellets that can then be used to create new consumer items.
Any metals like from the aluminum paper packaging inside are separated are sent to recycling facilities that will smelt them into metal sheets.
Any glass collected will be cleaned and crushed then melted to make recycled glass containers
Then once they turn all of that waste into raw material it is sold to manufacturing companies to make new consumer products and thus its full circle recycling
I love this
Hi I'm researching this topic currently and want to present a balanced account. I have more questions about the process ie, the washing process (with what chemicals etc) and also any side effects to the environment from the process in general. I contacted TerraCycle but only get stock sigh up replies. I can be contacted on terrerostrashhounds@gmail.com This is a really interesting topic and I am really interested to find out more. Thanks
@Dawn Punter! Please share your findings so that i can start doing. Any resource and help will be highly appreciated;)
