I would hate to not have a spare tire but I hear what you're saying waiting for a tow truck you never know where you might be or you have to fix it yourself can you put a spare tire in the trunk
Thing is no tire fits in the trunk. So even if you used the spare tire you would have to put your flat tire in your passenger seat and it would get everything very dirty. Plus the spare tire is too old and it most likely will blow out when used.
Your hoses already look freaking amazing but i get it, we’re already removing the reservoir so might as well replace the hoses too. Awesome video btw.
Thanks! I'm glad you are enjoying my videos.
Really enjoy your straight as you see it jobs. Things workout if you have patience. Well done and really helpful to Z3 owners
Thanks for kind words. I'm glad you are enjoying my videos.
Nice work! Always exciting with the plastic parts!
Gotta love them. Especially when they are discontinued lol.
Disclaimer: when reinstalling my door handle I was unable to get the white clip to reattach to the door latch actuator bracket. So I zip tied it together. I don't know if that's going to work but I could not get them to snap together no matter how much force I gave it and I didn't want to risk breaking that clip as it is a part that is discontinued.
Thanks a lot Terri, now I can see what's inside my Z3 door :-) I think I need to check the little white clip on the rod between the handle and the lock. When I turn the key, the locking system doesn't move. Maybe the clip is broken or disconnected on mine.
Yeah and I tried looking to see if I could find that clip in case I broke mine during the installation process and I don't think that clip is available anymore. I couldn't find anything on it.
Great job
Thanks
Hi Terri
Hi
Great!

I like the color nice job
Thanks
Hi Terri
Hi
I'm stuck on the velve back on intake manifold on my bmw z3...one on the left where there are three of them but two got cap... Please tell me where the hose from that velve goes to😢
The black and white valve or the one that clips to the manifold?
@@CoolcatsAlley I just watched your video where you installing the intake manifold it's gaved me all the answers... I was looking for the hose that connect to black and white thing... Which I haven't seen on my car... I got to find it🤣🤣🤣 Thandi you for this tutorials... You have your self a big Fan🙏
@@videosoftheyear7178 it's possible the vacuum lines broke and that black and white check valve fell off. They are cheap to replace if needed.
Do you have any experience with replacing canvass?
What part are you referring too? I replaced the convertible soft top by myself. That's the only canvas I've worked with.
Thanks for sharing i like everything you do with your Z3 i have a Z3 2000 and all you share helps
I'm glad you are enjoying my videos! So much more to do!
I really like your slow and steady (and detailed!) method! Watched a couple videos where, they just fast forwarded past everything! Thank you soooo much for taking the time to put this together! It has been invaluable already! Please keep up the good work!
Thanks and I'm glad my video is helpful. I watch a lot of UA-camrs do mechanic work on various cars and a lot of them assume the viewers know how to do everything so they skip a lot of the important details. I wanted to make my channel more beginner friendly cuz for most of us who own a Z3 this is our first car that we're working on ourselves.
I saw mint green and instantly subscribed! 😅
It's a pretty color that I see lot of new BMW use but nobody seems to use it on the Z3 so I figured I'd give it a try.
After you tighten the e brake handle pull the boot inside out over the handle and zip tie it in the grove of the handle.
That's not necessary as it's zip tied right where the handle comes to a stop at the tiny tabs.
Can you make a video on changing brakes and rotors to the z3 please?
It's on my to-do list. Lots of projects to do so as I can afford more parts I'll keep making videos.
You could try velcro instead of tape for the time being.
Great idea. I will give that a try.
Loving your vids, super informative and the breakdown of how to do things, and what not to do gives me lots of confidence to carry jobs on my ZeeMA.!👍👌keep up the good work..
Thanks a lot. I enjoy sharing my knowledge as I learn it to other Z3 enthusiasts. It's a great car and it's expensive going to mechanics and many of them won't work on vehicles this old so it's good to learn how to take care of them ourselves.
Great job ii. Like it
Thanks
Hi Terri
Hi
On average the Left Z3 door handle assembly is $200+ in the US and I think the part # is BMW-51218401623. Don't quote me on part #. The Z3 has several different part numbers for the outside door handles. If anyone has any leads or access to a salvage Z3 with this part fully intact please let me know. My local pull-a-part salvage yard sell this part for around $30. Issue is a Z3 is rare to be at the yard. Most owners part out themselves or sell whole car as salvage. PLEASE HELP!
Looking forward to seeing the solution! Thanks for the shout out!
Glad to help out where I can.
I hope you get the panel remove tutorial posted i have to remove mine Love your videos easy to fallow You re great Wait there's an air bag in the doors?
The 90's models didn't have airbags. They added them on the 2000's models. Yes my next video will show the actual removal of the door panels. Doing multiple projects at once and filming two videos simultaneously.
Excellent video! Great tip about blocking the trunk latch when disconnecting the battery. Thank you! 😃👍
Glad you enjoyed. I made the mistake with the trunk once and won't do it again 😆
Glue is probly the acoustic/sound proofing to help keep most moisture out kinda whats used on house walls for moisture barrier on the studs
Yeah it's the same weather strip glue I had to use when replacing the soft top. It's to keep moisture out of the inside of door.
Good job!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Dude you suck.
Thanks so much. I love that u put so much attention to each step, making my life easy. ❤
I'm glad my video helped you. So many people just install everything without pointing things out. I wanted to make sure it was step-by-step for those doing it for the first time.
Do the mounting pads have hardware or is it a tight fit?
There's an adapter that goes into the rubber mounting pad that attaches to the Jack. BMW has their own adapter so don't confuse it with Honda or someone else's.
Good video and thanks for all the other videos you put together as I kept my eyes on most of them in the past. Keep them coming as they are all useful to me.
Glad they are helping you!
This is the video she's referring to if your hoses break like mine did. THANK GOD there was someone else this happened to. ua-cam.com/video/43cKSt1cp-I/v-deo.html
Thanks for posting a link. I thought I had put it in the description but I must have forgot. Thanks for helping out others!
@CoolcatsAlley thank you for putting the video together. So greatful to have it to use as a reference.
Great video. About wiring - don't worry too much. The rubber around them are crap and decomposed years ago on mine but colored wires underneath are very heavy duty and my car into 150k miles and still good shape. Does look scary but they designed withstand high temperature exposure.
Thanks for letting me know.
Did you ever go with the electric front fan?
No, I've only been using the Aux fan and I've had zero issues. Even in 100° heat the car stays at normal temp.
So super helpful!!! I need to replace my starter and thanks to you I will get that done and hopefully back on the road! There are so many small things I am going to replace while I am this deep in here. Thank you for taking your time to post this video!
You are most welcome. It's a big project to replace all the things under the manifold but it's worth it before things degrade too much.
I needed this video years ago ... finally I can fix mine! ...lol
Good luck. Be extra careful not to break the small bracket the tiny screw mounts too. I broke mine. Not end of the world but the corner is slightly loose.
How many kms does the car have? The engine looks new. Thanks for video!!! I’m changing mine now but you don’t want to see how the engine looks😂
At the time of the video the engine had 52k miles (84k km). Good luck with your project!
So was that the issue? I am having the same problem and I already cleaned up that area, the cap... I also replaced the Vapor canister purge valve and the stupid code continues to come back, I cant get rid of it. Any ideas?
This is a difficult code to track down. I'm still getting it and I'm thinking the vacuum line on the fuel filter might be leaking so I'm going to check that next. If that doesn't fix it I'm going to buy a smoke machine and do an EVAP leak test. It might be a very tiny leak somewhere.
@@CoolcatsAlley thank you! I’ll keep you updated on my end just in case as well. Hope we can figure it out. Good luck!
I've owned my Z3 since 2017 and have never lowered the spare ... I am actually gonna lower it to see what it looks like ... Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching!
That's killer
Thanks
Just did my transmission fluid using Valvoline Synchromesh for my Getrag 5 speed manual. Easy process, took my time. Mine was about 38 oz, but then it overflowed a bit, started dripping and had to keep wiping it for a few minutes until it quit. Easy job. I have a special work environment, I used my garage in floor tornado shelter, which doubles as a maintance bay for working under my car- no jacking required! Worked great for diff fluid and transmission! Thanks for the tutorial Mark! @CoolcatsAlley
Glad my videos were helpful. The Valvoline works great in the Z3. I have no complaints.
OMG, get to the point! Love the info, but...
Glad the info was helpful
Thanks for the tutorial! Just changed mine with the 75W-140 Valvoline using the Slippery Pete pump. I took my time, but easy process. Wound up using about 1.4QTs for my 2000 2.3 manual.
@@johncagle3362 I'm glad my video was helpful
The old spare is fine to temporarily get where you have to go. Better than being stranded. However, access to the spare is a major pain, especially if your stranded on the side of a major freeway.
Yeah I can drop it within 5 min but changing a tire on a freeway is dangerous. Safer to call a tow truck.
Please get to the point. We don't need a full life background story. No one cares
That's your opinion. Many of my followers love it. If the video is not for you. It's not for you. Don't assume everyone wants what you want.
Amen brotha!!
Terry, I often reference your videos in my own servicing. Thank you for all you do. I wanted to come back here to comment that my only experience ever on any kind of coolant servicing is with my M52 98 single vanos 2.8 is that I have a single steel water pipe. Its certainly different than yours. I know there are variations of engines in the Z3s but wanted to say the M52 is different.
Yeah the M52 has different variants. The M52tu used in Z3's is very similar to my M54 and has both coolant pipes like mine.
How you fix the coolants reservoir from not leaking in the seem?
Replace it. It one of the easiest parts we can replace and it isn't too expensive. The coolant reservoir has to withstand a large amount of pressure. Attempting to repair the leak is just a waste of time. Too much pressure needs to be contained and it isn't going to hold. Replacement is the best option.
@@CoolcatsAlley how do you prevent the coolant reservoir from not leaking in the seem?
Dear Terry, I wanted to thank you for your videos that where very usefull. Thanks to you I was able the lift the car, change the engine oil, the gearbox oil and the transmission fluid. The most scary part was lifting the car but I took my time and everything went well. I wanted to ask you: 1. Do you consider in the future making a video on how to bleed the brakes and the clutch ? 2. How to replace the air cabin filter ? Thanks for your help and advice. Cheers from Belgium 🇧🇪👋 Jerome
I'm so glad my videos were helpful. I need to replace my brake fluid and my clutch slave cylinder so it's on my to do list. I have some other projects I need to do first though. My power steering is leaking and my flex disc is cracked so those projects will be coming up soon.
@@CoolcatsAlley Great 👍 I should have taken the opportunity to have a look at the flector while the car was on the jack stands because I do often ear a clunking noise in the back when changing gears. I think mine is cracked too or the driveshaft bearing must be worn out and needs to be replaced also. Anyway, thank you for the good job 👍 Jerome
