This channel explores topics including artistic voice and expression, oil painting and oil pastel demos and techniques, making compelling abstract art, abstract oil painting in particular, and the Whole Artist Mastery philosophy I've developed to help new and seasoned artists evolve their studio practice and their work.
Being a Whole Artist means knowing why you are inspired and what you are inspired by so you can OWN your authentic, artistic expression. It means knowing how to use the technical means of visual language to MAKE work that conveys what you want to express. And it means knowing who you are and what you want for your art so you can BE confident in the way you show up as an artist.

Connection, Comparison & Consistency & Our Art Practice I abstract painting, abstract oil painting
Having a strong connection to ourselves and to our work is fundamental to making strong work. When we lose that connection, which can happen for any number of reasons, we can start to compare ourselves to other artists. That very same loss of connection can inhibit consistency in our work as well. In this video I talk about these three Cs - connection, comparison and consistency - and how I think about them to enhance my own practice.
