For the story with Mr. TikTok Trend, OP definitely needs to sit him down and hash out her concerns. How he doesn’t make her feel supported and his annoyance whenever she requests help from him. Whether he brings up the orange peel thing because it’s a passive-aggressive sign of his true feelings or because it’s just a stupid trend, it’s obvious a point of frustration in the relationship. I can sometimes hyperfixate on something and rant about it ad nauseum, and there has been times where a friend has told me they’re sick of hearing about it. So I apologize in those moments and try to be more aware of when I do that. If she cannot tell her partner to stop ranting about something because it’s tiring to listen to, then that’s a red flag all on its own.

I agree with your conclusion on the first story. OP was going to great lengths not to have this person find out that she and Alex were together. And sure, Cindy *did* react in a terrible way to the news, but all the more reason to have the news out sooner to determine if Cindy is someone to even stay in contact with. As you said, OP is acting like she and Alex are doing something wrong; otherwise, why hide it? Definitely feels like we’re not getting the whole story / OP has altered some details in her favour. Everyone sucks in this situation.

I think I understand the “don’t take the commission” story. The wife gave context on how her husband is always belittling her and saying she doesn’t contribute to the marriage. So, when she was taking calls to help with the sale of land that her husband owns, she was being petty by saying “I don’t want you taking my commission,” probably to make a point that he will claim the sale solely as his even though she was fielding the call. Honestly, this woman needs to stop asking about such an unimportant exchange and do something about the relationship. Either push for counselling or find a way out because that level of emotional abuse is frightening.

Okay, the first story has me agitated. I was ready to call OP the ahole if he insisted Millie call him “Dad” when she didn’t want to, but based on the post, he just offered her the option to call him that if she DOES want to. As someone with two bio parents and two step-parents, the topic of who is called “Mom/Dad” has always been a strange situation to negotiate. While my bio dad could get a little defensive about the topic, my step-parents were perfectly fine with whatever I felt comfortable calling them. I usually refer to them by name just to differentiate who I mean when talking to people, not because they’re “not my real parents.” I often will call my stepmom “Mom” as well when I’m at family gatherings with my half-siblings, since they also call her Mom. I don’t like how the mother in this post says the stepdad should think about how Millie calling him “Dad” affects her relationship with her “real dad.” A) Biology doesn’t automatically make you a “real father,” and B) it should be the child’s decision and no one else’s.

I think it's difficult to be an a-hole towards AITA posts unless the OP is being outrageously foolish. It was fun watching you try to be mean while laughing. I cannot fathom asking a friend to help me move and then do absolutely no packing or work towards the task at all. 🤣
