Exmouth Trip Ep35 Hybrid solar eclipse.
First trip of the truck with the box. A quick trip to Exmouth to see the Hybrid solar eclipse. What a mission it was to get there on time. Had pre booked the campsite a few month previous to the event and as usual things take much longer that I anticipated, but never the less I managed to get there in the nick of time. Enjoy the video.

The Marriage Ep34
Переглядів 15121 годину тому
Finally the habitation box is on! The Marriage is done and thank goodness it went reasonably smoothly with the help of my friend Mick. Thank you Mick. I have pushed myself hard to get to this point as I made a promise to myself that I would try to get to Exmouth 930 km's north of my home town to witness my first ever total eclipse of the sun.

Habitation Box Build with composite panels on my Isuzu FTS700 ex fire truck. This is a large camper box known as a big rig in Australia and sure does live up to that name for size at 4500 long, 2450 high and 2500 wide. This part of the build took a lot of man hours of organising to make sure my mates were able to be at my place at the same time. You will see the meticulous preparation of the fi...
Mounting Front frame Ep30
Переглядів 1774 місяці тому
Front frame or Bow mounting done. We now have the main structure of the Habitation Box taking shape. A lot of hard work as usual battling wind and hot conditions, not ideal. The Isuzu FTS700 is beginning a new life from being an ex fire truck to a mobile home for me.
Mounting rear frame Ep29
Переглядів 1265 місяців тому
Finally the habitation box is taking shape with the install of the rear frame/Bow. I needed some help with this one and got a friend to help lift it up and square it up with the aid of a material handler. Basically a manual forklift. This episode is again countless hours of editing resulting in a more palatable length to watch. I hope you enjoy it and support me and my channel by liking, commen...

Making the rear frame/bow on my Expedition truck Isuzu FTS700 ex fire truck. This episode is longer than my usual episodes, but I think it depicts the step by step fabricating and thought processes that are involved in making something on this scale in you back yard without any heavy machinery such as a fork lift or the like. This episode is the culmination of literally at least a hundred hours...

I don't know how you did it with the manual caulking guns. I had to use a pnuematic gun to get the adhesive down fast enough. Looks good, bit bigger than mine
Yeah. Was bloody hard work. That’s why I did one panel at a time, with two ppl.
Great project ! Where did you buy the rubber mounts ???
Try this website. That’s where I got mine timbren.com/en-au/collections/all
Oh the fun we had Omar 😂😂
good job mr omar it's amazing to see the box from A to Z....i hope to see a vidéo about the susponsion system in chasis's body
Watch my video on building the Torsion Brackets. It explains it all there. Thanks for watching.
Omer Selam , You fixed the chassis and the box. The box will not bend and twist?
Watch my video on building the Torsion Brackets. It explains it all there. Thanks for watching.
Your videos are so nice👏👏👍 from I.R.I🇮🇷❤😊
Isnt a engineer modification plate (certification needed), not just as simple as swapping out tyres ?? It was for my fuso canter 4x4, then it had to go back over the dept of transport pits for registration checks
I apologize.. have not seen all your videos. Just came across them. What is the rubber unit you are using as a captured spring? Name I can search by? Does one of your videos cover why you chose that item over others manufactures or between versions by same manufacture?
Hi @coachgeo. ‘AEON’ distributed by Timbren. This is the company I dealt with. They are a Canadian company, but I used and Aussie distributor. I haven’t done a specific video of why I used except that I know most of the fire truck of that era in Australia used them. Here’s the link to get you started: timbren.com/en-au
A very hard and good work nothing to say bro you are a ginus ❤❤❤ tbarkellah 3lik sidi omar
Thankq a lot mr omar i really appreciate the scientific sens you have about the physics of offroading expédition vehicul ...im going to build my own truck in morocco , w'd you please to share with us the links of products y've used in yoyr truck . Thanks a lot bro .❤❤❤❤❤❤
what are these tyres please Omar?
hey Omar these look mad! love them. wondering if they are legal though if picked up by the police?
Already been stopped by the police for speeding! I was in an 80km zone due to road works and I was doing 80 on the speedometer, but it actually was about 86! So they stopped me and had a good look at the truck and explained about the over sized tires and to be under what my speedo was reading to compensate for the larger diameter etc. They were very pleasant and let me go with a caution.
Great Vid Omar, can’t wait to see the truck complete, bet it looks awesome 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Mick. Can’t wait for the completion too😎
did i miss ep 25 or there isnt one?
Not sure what happened, but I skipped an episode number!
Wow all held together by glue. I didn’t think glue would be strong enough!
Yeah it’s amazing stuff. All the German box manufacturers use it in all those million dollar plus big rigs.
@@overlandingomar learn something new every day! Amazing how far technology has come
You explained nothing!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this What was the cost?
If you mean the panel costs. Then they were $10000 AUD
@@overlandingomar Oh wowwwww. That’s fantastic. Well done.
@@overlandingomar Who did you buy the panels from? I’m based in Melbourne
@@poerava I’m in WA got them from AFA (Advanced Fiberglass Australia) Perth
Wow! Lots of work...big panels to maneuver- coming along nicely though!!
Great episode Omar, my eyes are still recovering from the whiteness of those bloody panels. Green was the only colour I have seen since 😂😂😂
Ha ha. You and me both 😎😂
Where I live its logging country, all logging trucks here have dullies apart from the front axle, truck owners are very aware of updates for their trucks but, no wheel change. Pickup truck dollies fit a 1-2" steel ring between the back wheel pairs that pretty much aradicates stone pick up.
Another great information packed video Omar, well done mate and it’s coming along a treat. Top job mate
Thanks Mick. Yep bit by bit 😎
Sorry Omar, been a tad busy to watch but binge watching as we speak. Starting to come together nicely mate. Some serious fabrication. Top job mate. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great work Omar… how did it work out? Any last minutes tips or suggestions… did your weight ratings work out well? Thank you
Haven’t really had the chance to test it out fully. Box is yet to go on Will keep you posted. Getting closer now
@@overlandingomarthanks for responding .. have a good day..
You are making good progress with the frame, you'll have it all boxed up in no time.
Yes definitely taking shape. For sure
Big job!! Good thing Ron was there to lend a hand. Love the welding with blanket over your head!
Yeah the neighbours always thought I was weird. Now the have proof 😂
@@overlandingomar haha😆
Coming together now Omar, looks great mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Mick.
Nice job starting to take shape.
Thanks David. It’s definitely taking shape
Big job!! Good you had someone to help you👍😁
Keep the videos coming, your doing a great job. Love the tail gate lift idea will be putting that on my truck when I get started on it.
Thank you David. I appreciate your support.
Happy new year...looking forward to more vids.
Happy New Year to you too. Yep will be more vids coming for sure.
Great job looks great 👍
Thanks. 🙏
Nice truck👍
Thanks 👍
No crush tubes?
I decided to use a 6mm plate welded either side of the chassis rails instead, then I mounted the fixed chassis attachment which in itself also 8mm thick. I haven’t torqued them down yet, but I believe they should be 248 ft/b at M16 gal. I’m keen to know what your thoughts are. Thanks for the comment.
Congratulations looking good down to the details
Thank you. I appreciate that
Another great episode Omar, coming together well mate 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Mick 🙏
For the calculating load on each sub chassis support it will depend on the weight distribution of the suspended load (the camp box) Look into videos on "free body diagrams" and "beam deflection calculation : point loads and distributed loads" and that will give you a better idea of how to calculate. Keep in mind that dividing by four is probably good enough as long as you are very conservative with your weights etc
Looking the goods.
Thanks mate
That was a good day Omar, and a great solution 👍🏻
Thanks Mick. Yeah I think your right.
Great to see you found a work around for it. For the spring rails on the subframe how many will you have on each side? The great thing is these trucks are made to take a beating. With your work around and the subframe the habitat and cab should good to go ...right?
Yes it was annoying to find this out after testing on the truck. I’ll have 6 points of contact in total. 3 on each side. 2 of which will be the rubber bungs and one fixed. The fixed point of contact being in the back of the chassis. I think 3 points of contact over a 4.5 meter length would be adequate.
I love the idea of a WVO system for an overland vehicle. I have one concern how will you be filtering the WVO you pickup at restaurants while on the road before adding it to the saddle tank? What about adding an initial tank where the raw WVO goes, it gets heated by the engine coolant(heated veggie oil filters a lot more readily when it is heated and is less viscous. Then off the bottom of the initial tank is connection for a hose that goes to a small pump, then to a filter cartridge and then directly into your WVO saddle tank. You will be able to filter to smaller micron levels because the veg oil is hot so you do not risk particulate matter in your fuel system.
Great to see you back and with some cool engineering going on. What happens if you breakdown on the road? 24:51😅 I imagine you'll have an independent system that slides the habitat on and off. Why not build a square box that has a pop out / slide out, over the cab. Think of American RV type slide out or over in Australia there are caravans that have a pop out sleeping area in canvas / hybrid. I can't say much because I want to make a version of the Romotow out of New Zealand, as a habitat that folds out while still sitting on a rail system spring subframe 😅😂😮😊
That bandsaw is trembling every time you go into the shed 😂
Wow, another amazing video!!! So much thought goes into every aspect!
Thanks Soph. It really does
It'll be great to see it in action.
Thank you sir!
Very interesting video Omar 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Mick!
Nice vid. Have you any plans to do a follow up on how it performed.
Yes I will do once I get the truck more finished and mobile
why are the tanks round, it's so inefficient?
I agree, but it’s what came across my path at the time and fit the need for capacity and the fact they’re aluminium. They’re not cheap and trying for perfection would be a delay in the build I could really do with out.
Any chance of saying in a video where you purchase your wheels, thanks.
Yes. Will try to find the name and pin it to the comments
