Squirrel Proof Bird Feeding Station
Переглядів 16 тис.4 роки тому
We were looking for squirrel proofing our bird feeders and came across a video form cab7 (ua-cam.com/video/C-hwfpcOaQk/v-deo.html), we made some modifications form his design and it has worked great. The key is for it to be (the feeders) more then 5 feet off the ground and 7 feet away from where they can jump from. The 4X4 is 10' in length, 2 feet in the ground with some cement. The PVC pipe is...

How do you get the feeders up that high?
Sunfish 👍👍
BZ!
That's on good camera placement!
Thanks, I owe it to @Rob's Channel
Having a seperate squirrel feeder is not necessary, but its fun to watch. It's better for them to forage. They will eat the bird seed that falls on the ground.
That is the best looking bird feeding system I've seen.
Where video of squirrels failing on it? D:
They do not “fall” on it.
I’m wanting to try this. Is your PVC pipe still keeping the squirrels off? Do you think metal would be a better option? Thanks!
Hello. Yes! It has worked flawlessly. We have not changed anything with the original design. I guess you could use “galvanized stove pipe” or thinner DWV pipe. If I were to build another it would be exact. Message me if you have anymore questions.
@@bug512 Awesome! Exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks for your quick reply.
Love it, thanks for sharing
He's so freaking awesome in concert.

Witam ,czy tymi górnymi otworami ma lecieć woda?
Yes
Też dzisiaj miałem takie przemyślenia po wymianie wirnika pompy. Leci mi tak samo. Jak u Ciebie po roku ?
I think a 3-4" diameter PVC pipe would suffice. They can't wrap their arms around that wide, nor dig claws into it. Plus its cheaper than 8in pipe
4" pipe will bend do to heat and sun
Amazing.
There are other videos showing feeder designs that keep squirrels out,but I like your approach best,as you keep them away from the feeders altogether ,which is a far easier thing to do.
Squirrels will be eating the first try, Guaranteed!!
Nope, none at all....
Two year update. Not one squirrel on the feeders.
Looks nice, but won’t rain water fill the pvc up and rot the post? The top of the pvc looks like it is open.
Thanks for the comment. The small amount of rain will and can dissipate into the soil, also the post is made from treated wood and should be fine for twenty years or so.
Amen .
We just subbed! Looking forward to following your channel! Nice work!
I just did some similar. I had a metal pole system and put 7’ of 6” pipe over it. Might to close to the fence for some jumpers, but we’ll see.
Ours has worked amazing.. Good luck with yours
🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺👏👏👏
You did an awesome job my Friend. I hope you have many years of bird enjoyment.
Thanks to you for your awesome design. Ours is working amazing.
Love the magnet idea!!!
gorgeous back drop
Beautiful I would love to stay there.
Thank you!
Greetings from Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. Cool video! Come visit my channel at: "time lapse videos by donald granger" and view my videos of thunderstorms, moon rises, sun sets & snow melting. More will be coming in the near future.
What safety devices do you have in place besides the T&P valve? How do you prevent the heating coils from going dry, and then introducing water when it is hot, avoiding a steam bomb?
Hello, this system is long gone as I do not have the coal stove anymore. The coils would never go dry since this was on the DHW side. Even if.. they did, the coils were not over the flame in the fire box. It did work well when we had the stove.
Couldn't you just stay there forever! Love it! Big thumbs up!
I love Willy Porter and I love the words to this song.
How does this have no views

Update..... I contacted "The Norcold Guy" and said what was happening and confirmed the part number with the serial number of the refrigerator. He agreed that the optical display needs to be replaced, with an older unit (earlier the around 2006) you need to replace both the optical and power board. Strangely enough both boards are less expensive then just the optical board on the newer units! I also replaced the thermistor for good measure and $191 for everting including shipping we are cooling very nicely. Here is a link to what I received, click here. This "kit" came with all the instructions needed, you need to read close because this fits a veriaty of refrigerators so some steps might need to be skipped depending on your model.
Funny to see the snow plows magically work...
Thanks much for the video. Just what we needed. So I noticed that you had site 17 which I was interested in as we are looking for privacy. I have a small teardrop and I like to pull up next to the trailer with my truck. Enough room in there ? thanks !
Hello, thank you for the kind comments. Site 17 is quiet, to be honest the entire park is nice and quiet. The sites on the inner loop are higher and also closer to the restrooms / showers. Here is a picture of site 17. www.flickr.com/photos/21000175@N02/7298709398/in/album-72157629996425330/ Have a great time...
Ohh wow that is very stormy weather .. Greetings from Ireland :) !
We are headed here next month and this was super helpful for me as I planned! Thank you!
Thats great, it is a great park to visit. The Lilly Pad is now closed, it was a great place to eat. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Will do as I keep researching. Thanks again!
Thank you so much. This was very helpful. We look forward to going there tomorrow!
Have a great time !
Had the awesome chance to see him live because he came into my class and performed live!! Such a talented musician and so intelligent and nice! Thanks for coming into our class and talking to us about your lyrics!
I stopped to look at this park when I was on my way to Baltimore yesterday. Besides the road going back to the park which is paved but terribly, terribly bumpy which would beat up your dishes it is a awesome looking park. Campground circle and most of site is paved and nicely spaced with decent room. Want to go there soon to enjoy the lake and Arboretum. The road is not the parks fault but it has to be the worst road around, make sure you go slow.
+azimmey It is a great park, we need to plan to return one day. Rent the kayaks.
+bug512 I plan to, looks like fun.
A.Miller . The water tube in the stove is single wall tube and is a U shaped S.S. I used the" How to heat water" from a booklet i bought from LEAMANS AMISH store in OHIO. I had to make some modifications on the locations of the blow off valves from the booklet. The system works great and supply's our home with more than enough HOT water during the coal burning season. Tempering tank is 50 gallons and takes a couple days to reach a hot temp from our well temp of 55 degrees using no pump only thermal siphon. Average temp is 170 degrees during heating season. Hope this helps you.I can send photos if you would like to see our set-up.
i love how when you are going to get water and start walking away you just keep staring into the camera....haha
any issues?
None ! This is a great setup. I guess people do not want to drive a manual transmission car.
when does the circulater pump run?
The pump would run continuously if the coal stove was fired. I no longer use the coal stove since I have switched to natural gas for my primary heat source. It is a great coal stove.
Have you considered spray painting the aluminum fins, flat black (more than 70% of the heat emitted by a woodstove is radiant as opposed to convective and conductive)? The aluminum fins, of course, are poor absorbers of radiant heat.
wow good idea
Was expecting some ingenuity but OK
We have been RV camping for 30+ years, never had trouble drinking water out of the RV's potable water tank. We use filters and hoses made for potable water, NEVER green garden hoses which make the water smell and taste horrible. For filling the RV fresh water tank, we use a 10 gpm12 volt inline pump, much faster than the pump you are using.
Good concert. Great background. Thanks for posting. I'm seeing Willy in 8 days.
Why don't you just drive over and fill your tanks directly? It would be less back and forth. Why 14 gals per trip?
