Alpine Step Swap Out
We decided to ditch the steps that came with our 2018 Alpine. The factory steps were great in many ways. We liked the fact that they made contact with the ground and gave a very solid feel. But after a few years, we developed a love/hate relationship with the steps. The two main issues we had were the mess they make when you stow them, especially when the weather was bad, and the amount of interior space they take up when stowed. After a recent where we had to pack up in pouring rain with mud-covered steps, we'd had enough. We switched them out with GlowStep Revolution steps from Tork-Lift. This video shows how I did it.

Very good. Great video and well explained.
Excellent video!! Thanks!!!
PLEASE help. Right where you insert the anode rod, there is a metal clip or o'ring. Mine completely rusted out! I've searched the internet for that, but no luck. Anyone know where to get one?
There shouldn't be an O'ring. The threads with Teflon tape should be what seals it up. I did not have a clip or O'ring. Best of luck!
@@toddtt1 The ring is on the water heater itself. You can see it in the video.
@@toddtt1 It looks like a metal retaining ring with notches. The one in the video looks new.
@@SNHIPP ok I see what you're talking about. Perhaps give Suburban a call.
@@toddtt1 they said it's is available out there, but can't tell me where to find it. Thanks for replying anyhow!
Thanks good info
Just got off the phone with Dometic trying to diagnose an issue as the bowl won’t hold water after replacing the seal. They acknowledged a manufacturing issue but won’t do anything about it. The two parts with the issue cannot be replaced and said the entire toilet would need to be replaced, at my expense. Basically, it’s a throw away POS! I’m shocked by their arrogance!
thank you for the step by step. Great explanation and great job on the repair!
Great video. I am facing the same problem. Hydraulic leak that has pooled under coroplast. My slides still work but the leak seems to be getting worse. Question. I assume that the slide outs and leveling jacks are all on the same hydraulic system and use same pump and reservoir. If so, how do you make sure that the jacks don’t move when you are working on the slide out cylinders?
Hi there...on my system (and on most), the hydraulics do share the same pump and reservoir. However, there are a set of valves called hydac valves which control where and when the fluid moves. As long as those valves are working correctly, they will prevent the jacks and other cylinders from moving.
Is it a standard fitting on all RVs? I just ordered the Camco Aluminum Rod. Are the threads on the water heater METAL or TEFLON? Can we use vinegar or CLR to help clean the threads with a stainless steel brush?
Fittings are standard. The threads are all metal. Not sure about the vinegar or CLR but that should work.
New one leaks also
Thanks for showing how to replace the valve
You did a real disservice by acting like the factory hose clamp seal was simple to remove… opened two knuckles and still can’t get it off. So much for doing this on my own
Not sure what you did but it should come apart easily. It’s a very simple fitting.
Thank you!
Has something happened to the rest of the video? Most of it seems to be missing.
Oh this was an amazing video I’m a single female and I could understand you very well you spoke slowly and understandably thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Great job
Very well done, and fortunately for me, the exact same WH I have.
Thank you glad it helped.
I have a well, you said you prefer magnesium, why?
Do you have measurements?
Exactly what I needed to see! Quality video. Thank you very much!
Leaky toilet Valve
Very cool video. Workin' on my girlfriend's 96 Rexhall. She got it about 5 years ago with 26K on it but I don't think the previous owners did any of the type maintenance you demonstrate here ...on any of the features that require it. I'm a retired mechanic... I thought! But this rig is keepin' my chops well greased🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the tips! Can always learn something new!
Was a big help to me on mine..thanks !
Really appreciate the video Todd! Excellent tutorial how to maintain the RV water tank!
Just bought a motorhome with an 11 year old Suburban. Pulled the anode - absolutely nothing on the steel pin core but rust! Possibly never been changed, certainly not for quite a few years. Lots of calcium buildup visible so I'll try filling the tank with vinegar and leaving for a long time (maybe 24 hours). So frustrating that people neglect simple maintenance and possibly ruin an A$1100 appliance.
Old anode is really rusted in there. Any advice appreciated.
I’d try spraying some PB Blaster on the threads and let that soak for 30 minutes. That stuff usually helps free up stuck metal. Good luck to you.
@@toddtt1 thanks so much
Is there a size of anode to buy or are they all about the same size? We have a 2019 Geo Pro 19 bunk house. Thank you!
Always use the second screw on the bottom of the valve. It really holds the valve in place securely. Without the second screw, the valve when literally move, and you can see it moving when the flush pedal is depressed.
Great video. Short and simple. Thanks.
Great vid👍 Question- how did you retract and extend just the one piston?
Near the hydraulic pump there should be valves which you can close or open. Use these valves to shut off flow of hydraulic fluid to the other pistons leaving only the one you want to move in the open position. My valves are little round knobs which can be screwed in or out.
Excellent video. One thing I do on screwing in anything as in the case of the anode rod is to turn the screw or rod counter clockwise and feel the threads catch. Then continue screwing it in. This will ensure the threads aren't cross threaded.
Every time I do that, someone over my shoulder tells me to turn the other way.
Thanks Todd for the informative video. I cannot remove the anode rod from the surburban water heater. i put a lot of weight to wrench & socket but it will not budge. any suggestions?
Thank you so much. Very clear instructions.
This valve too will start leaking. There is an valve on Amazon with 2 o'rings in the plunger housing. Bought 1 for my next leaker. And it's cheaper
Link?
Thank you I called a rc tech I was told I need a new toilet thanks I will be able to fix myself
Glad you will avoid buying a new toilet!
Great video. Those steps look real nice. How did they compare weight wise?
They’re substantial lighter. Probably close to 50% lighter.
@@alpine5thwheelvideosbytodd751 I’ll be checking them out at the rally.
Very nice steps and excellent video
Another nice video Todd.
Todd, I plan to d/c the valve in the next few days. Bought the supplies from lowes. Am not using a check valve. Our rig is a 2922 Alpine 3220rl. Did you remove the pipe and siphon valve? Any other advice? Thank you for the video.
This man tells you How to get the factory crimping tool off the hose. I literally squeezed it with the pliers and moved it around...and it came off. Every other channel skips this part, does it off camera, or cuts the hose, (so the hose doesn't fit anymore). Thank you!
Glad you found it helpful!
Nice video as always..
Folks should watch this video so they can see the potential area that most water leaks occur at on that outer four inches of seam tape
Excellent video
I need to replace my overhead lights to LED in the basement . The only place they didn’t use LEDs on my 2014.
