OOF!! Good catch! I missed copy/pasting that bit in! Fixed it, now! Baxcalibur grew on me a lot as I continued my Scarlet playthrough but my initial reaction wasn't exactly favorable so I thought it would be funny to include - and I've seen so many fan-made redesigns of it that are just amazing, so, I believe it's just a pretty polarizing design overall. You know how much I love Kaiju and Tokusatsu inspired 'mons in general and I DO respect them drawing so heavily on the practical origins of those elements... I just wanted it to look cooler, LOL (Sort-of pun intended.) I know you're not supposed to pick favorites from amongst your children... but yeah. The Cyanewt line is my favorite too and I would 100% use Turquobolt on my main team if this were a game. Thanks for the nice comment, Red!!

It really is - I'm loving a lot of these members but if I keep encountering Normal Types as my encounter every secord route... well. We may start having some serious issues!

@@PewterCityJim I'm not sure how many fire types you can get now. Losing Miles is definitely the biggest loss of the team so far.

@@takclaw10 yeah - you said it! I have a couple of Flying Types I could sub in if I needed to. (Well. One useful one I think... Rios probably wouldn't survive long in late game.)

I did some research and getting a fire type now is definitely going to be difficult. Most of them are on the other side of the map near late game. There are a few potential Pokemon but obviously it's going to be decided by RNG. You might encounter a Litwick in Lost Hotel but there are a few other encounters there as well. Unfortunately it's unlikely now that you'll get a Kalos fire type since you didn't get a Fletchling or a Litleo early on. You also got Panpour instead of Pansear so that's another fire type you can't get now. You may end up needing to teach one of your team members a fire move eventually just so you have some type coverage. Thankfully it's not a big problem right now but something to keep in mind.

@@takclaw10 good call - I'd forgotten about Litwick in the lost hotel! I do love that line so I wouldn't mind one... though, I did use one pretty extensively in my Sword playthrough and it's always nice to use different things. We'll see! And a Fire move would be handy for a few opponents later game, like Siebold.

Oh! I didn't realize TrueGreen7 did a similar monster! I've gotta go look it up and see if I can find it! So, the traditional way of doing it was just to find the, uh, beans naturally out in the fields. But, y'know, as soon as you turn it into a profit driven thing, that's where it becomes about as unethical as any other kind of farming. During my research I did find a lot of articles talking about this but I never feel exactly like a fun video about pretend monsters is a great place to bring up real world issues. @@PewterCityJim this makes sense. in my mind i had imagined that they would keep supplies low to keep prices up, but it makes sense that there are some who would do this. just rewatched it now, but he made it sound like it was inherently unethical, rather than a specific method.

@@richarderguiza7080 to be fair, there ARE ethical Kopi Luwak companies out there that say they're committed to ethical sourcing of wild-foraged beans only! So, it's not like all of it is unethical, thankfully. Ethically sourced or not... don't think I'll be trying it any time soon, though!

It makes a little sense seeming as Bulbasaur was supposed to be easy-mode for Kanto. Good against the first two gyms, resists the third, levels up and evolves fast. An all-round smooth ride!

It's one of the few Gen 5 ones that does! Though, I think its final evolution is still in the mid to late 40s.

Pretty sure we're adding it to the team!

I'll snag it for sure but I'm happy keeping Julian on the team for now so it's mostly going to be as a backup option.

It DEFINITELY took a lot of getting used to back when it first came out. Mostly just because of the reclassification of older monsters. And to this day there are some that don't make absolute sense to me. For example, Clefairy and Jigglypuff get the Fairy Type. That's fine. But I always sort of lumped Chansey in with them because they all sort of share an aesthetic... round, pink and cute Normal types that don't really specifically resemble a particular animal or object. So why isn't Chansey or Blissey given the Fairy Type also? Why in the world isn't Audino a Fairy Type!? But the Azurill line is. No clue why. Same thing with Snubbull and Mr. Mime... no clue why they wound up with that particular type. Now? I love the fairy Type and pretty much take it for granted! But yeah... it was a learning curve for sure!

@@PewterCityJim That all makes sense. Yeah I remember hating the fairy type for a good year or more. It upset me that old Pokemon now had new types. I hated that Sylveon existed. I hated how cute and pink most of them were. Nowadays it doesn't bother me. I like having a reliable counter to dragons since ice really wasn't strong enough and dragon vs dragon is usually a risky move. I'm not exactly sure why certain Pokemon are fairy while others are not. I think there is a reason behind some of them but I'd probably have to research it just to be sure.

Oh! No, I had the opposite reaction to Sylveon! I loved it! I'll admit that the design seemed a little overcomplicated at first but other than that, it's just got such a cute little face, LOL! But yeah... Dragon definitely needed some opposition so something had to be done.

@@PewterCityJim I like Sylveon now! Once I used it in a playthrough a couple of years later I softened to it. I also remember when X and Y came out I didn't understand how to evolve Eevee into Sylveon which didn't help.... Fairy was definitely a good type to help knock the dragons off their pedestal.

I think of the three first forms, I actually like Panpour the most - the other two are cute, but I tend to gravitate towards blue colors and round shapes. In terms of evolved forms... I really don't care that much for Simipour's design, but I like the other two a lot!

@@PewterCityJim Out of all the evolved forms I like Semisage the best. Semisear I'll use if I need too but I love Pansear to much to evolve it.

Worf is basically carrying us at this point - that Leech Seed and Poisonpowder combo is getting us through some of these bulky monsters, thankfully!

@@PewterCityJim wasn't very challenging at all really, though being 5 or so levels higher than everyone else definitely makes it easier. turns out, having only four pokemon for most of the game makes it easier to level everyone up. picked up all the gifts - starter, togepi, daycare egg, eevee. and mostly ran with them all the way up until...cant remember, pryce or the red gyarados i think?

@@richarderguiza7080 absolutely makes sense! All that extra XP for the few 'mon you had would have made them absolute monsters!

Yes! I love getting them, though, just because you can use one of the many options to help balance type weaknesses in the team. In theory, anyway! It is harder the earlier you get it just because you never know who you're going to wind up with or lose and which bases need covering! Still. Let's not kid ourselves... this is Gen 6. I'd be trying for Sylveon, LOL

@@PewterCityJim I've used almost all the Eeveelutions now in some kind of playthrough. The only one I still haven't used is Glaceon. What's your favourite eeveelution?

@@takclaw10 Vaporeon! Though, to be entirely fair, Vaporeon is also my favorite water type in general. How about you?

@@PewterCityJim Good choice! For me it used to be Flareon because of how cute and fluffy it is but I never really used it. I found it rather underwhelming to use. I would probably have to say Vaporeon as well. I enjoy using it in playthroughs plus I love the purple shiny!

@@takclaw10 I do love Flareon's design and the Special/Physical split in Gen 4 helped it a LOT... but yeah, it can be a struggle to use it when there are some particularly good fire types out there. Nice! Vaporeon club for the win! That Shiny really is super cute, too. Easily the best eeveelution shiny till we get to Sylveon as well.

I am thinking it may just wind up on the team before Gym 3...

@@PewterCityJim I kinda envision it (and you can still change it as you like, this is just my vision) that there's Rotom's main body in the middle... Same as base or not, Idk, maybe a Weezing like position, with two sideway heads, to reffer to the animation when the pokeballs cross each other) and around this main body, there are octopus like tubes, like how sending and reciving works/could work... Pokedex maybe includes that this form is so big, sometimey it's mistaken as a Dynamax form 😃 (it is not😅)

SO! To be completely frank, at this time, no. The reason for this is simply because I've been working on Solah for quite a while, since before Generation 9 was even announced. I had a battle gimmick planned and unfortunately, it's way too similar to terrastalization. I think mine is significantly better (No weird hats.) but, mechanically, it's similar enough that I had to scrap the idea. I haven't come up with a new one yet, unfortunately!

As for the stories about the Winchester house, my initial introduction to it was the story about the vengeful souls so when I found out the truth behind it all, I was pretty surprised!

Good eye!! I missed the missing line-art - I'll fix it for PixelCityJim's next appearance! Oh, the Winchester House is just fascinating all over! It's a bucket list place for me. I really want to go on one of the tours, even if the misrepresentation of the history is a burr for me. But if you google it, you can see how amazing the remaining architecture and design is! Yeah! It's important to me that there's a good amount of Japanese representation in my region because... well. Pokémon comes from there so it only seems right.
