Hey buddy I have a 13’ ZL1 and want to make the power you have. Can you give a run down of the mods? It’s a lot to ask but I’m super curious about your setup and want to duplicate it.

Hey buddy I really like your videos and style of doing things correct and by the book. Two questions for you, the tune you had to do the start up and first drive how did you get that remote tune. Your tuner you eventually went to? 2nd question. The GM book you are referring to, is that better than the Chilton manual you think? Because I’m about to do the exact same mods you just did and want to do it correct?
The start up time came from my tuner. I send him my base files, list of mods and specs and that was enough for initial start up. Then email him the logs and received a revision. Repeated about 10 times before the dyno tune. He had it almost completely dialled in. The GM manuals are 5 or 6 volumes and way more in depth but I had to special order them through my dealer.

which molnar rods are you using? i saw 2 different options on dedicated motorsports website when i selected the diamond pistons. sorry if i missed it in the video.
There are the power adder plus rods. Rated at over 1500hp

Im not an engine builder by any stretch, but have extensive experience in torquing flanges etc...... dont ever double click your torque wrench, it 100% adds torque, we tested it along every measure, sometimes adding an extra 20-30 ft lbs! Thanks for making these videos, just blew up my ZL, so following closely! lol

@RacecarRay oh I completely understand why people do it for sure! And if you're gentle enough, as you were you won't see too much over torque.... fantastic build my man, just blew my 417 up and heads to machine shop Tuesday to start over! Lol your videos helped me tremendously! Thank you!

Heads are Lingenfelter heads. Did not mill them. I raised the compression ration from 9:0 to 10:5 with new pistons. Not running an ice tank. Just a larger 2 gal reservoir tank. The killer chiller actually worked better before the x-port as I ended up spinning it faster with smaller pulley after the x-port. Im assuming if you keep everything the same and just port the blower, temps will drop.

How did it do on a hard drive? I mean like a 1-2 hour balls to the wall trip around the city and toll way type drive 😂
Drives perfect. Took it to the Rocky Mountains for a day trip this summer. About 3 hr round trip. Zero issue , except the cop that pulled me over speeding!
5000RPM? Sweet mother. 3500 max, just get into that boost or peak torque. There just ain’t enough friction in the world to transfer 5000 RPM into a standing transmission without heat treating it into all the pretty colours. 😢

My friend slipped the clutch on his rs4 b7 apr stage 3 compressor kit. He wanted too launch the car, the clutch got welded together whit flywheel and everything. Lesson learned guys don't slip the clutch 😂

man, i need to do what you do so i have money to do all this type of stuff to my '13 zl1. i have the infamous supercharger isolator problem and the rotors are rattling away (i was like 2 months late to get it warrantied >:(. so im researching aftermarket supercharger options since they seem to be about the same as getting an oem replacement from gm. i just finished changing all the brake rotors and pads, tires, rear struts and sway bar links as well as new oil change and transmission filter/fluid + the Jannetty racing dipstick mod so it'll be a minute before i have the funds to do all that fun stuff to the motor.
The isolator can be replaced on the factory super charger. The 1.9 with the Kong Xport can make some power.
Are those molar pwr adr or pwr adr plus rods?

Very cool video! How many miles did the engine have before rebuild?
44,000 kms , ran way to much boost in a bad tune I’m thinking is what killed the liners.
44,000 kms is about a little bit more than 27,000 miles. I have a 2014 ZL1 with about 82,000 miles, about 132,000 kms. It runs great no issues. I've been wanting to add extra hp, I don't take it to the track just street driving, you think the bottom end will hold up or should I do full rebuild?
Really depends on how hard you push it. These engines are prone to have badly concentric cylinder liners when install. So you may have a good one or a bad one like mine. Mine were very off center so basically my walls were thinner one side then the other and when I added more then factory boost and a bad tune, BOOM. 💥 cracked liners. The cranks are super strong , pistons and rods are the weak link.
That's interesting of what you say about the liners. I would have never considered that. Now you got me thinking about getting full rebuild, machined with new liners. Thanks for answering.
