Knob tail Geckos waking up for breeding !
I have 6 new age mohave reptile enclosures I love them
Does silicone stick to these?
Can I ask if you think this would be fine for a bci ?
Would be tough to maintain humidity in these, as there is a screen top.
Is the 130 to 145 heat lame pot baby’s and when they are a couple months old too
I go slightly cooler, but depends on the cage size as well. Allowing them to have the option to select the temperature they want and moderate is most important
I got mine yesterday, but i dont have an adult’s droppings, its like 4 to 5 months old, so what can i feed it to keep it healthy. The breeder told me it will take it couple of days to begin eating , since yesterday it didnt eat anything, but at least today it went out exploring the tank and returned to hide in it’s box. I need your help or instructions regarding food and lightings / light timings, and sunbathing instructions too , mind my English as its not my language, thanks in advance 🫶🏼
Do you know if it is captive bred or not? Like did you have pictures of the parents, not just them saying they are captive bred? What species is it also, and how much did you pay? Let’s start there.
@ yes its captive bred , its an egyptian uromastyx i guess , ive seen the breeding place cuz i know the guy , the price is 20 bahraini dinars (like 55 usd ), its cheap in here cuz these lizards are native to my country.
How did you get yours to retain loose substrate? I’ve had two of these enclosures (the second was a replacement for the first one) but they both have the same problem: they pour out sand and other loose substrate. Was I just unlucky twice? Or have others also faced this issue and if so, what did you do to correct it? I’ve tried aquarium sealant on the edges, corners and cracks when I got this new one and still didn’t help
When we used sand in the past, we would simply use a bead of silicone on the inside seams, or duct tape. This was a quick and cheap way to keep the sand in. We have converted over to 100% gravel for our Uromastyx a few years ago.
@ awesome! I ended up ordering some stick on vinyl flooring that I’m going to line the bottom of her cage in and that should hopefully cover the seals and prevent anything from leaking out
You define "crazy info" basic needs for animals and instead promote keeping animals irresponsibly. Very bad.
Not usually a fan of arguing in the comments, but go on….. I’m interested in what you consider “irresponsibly”, as well as your experience?
I'm in the middle of modifying my new 48" ecos, got PVC and made an insert for the top of the screen to attach a 28 watt RHP and light kit. I love these enclosures, and I'm hoping they'll take them a few steps further to accommodate different reptiles. ❤
Love it! I feel bad for my Bredl’s as he is in a boring Viv. I’d like to try something like this with a bigger Viv. Big project though.
I just got the 36x18x18 and love it. I have only assembled it because there's no hole for the temperature probe. I need to drill a hole or figure out something
Yes, if you have a cordless have at it. All my probes went in that way.
My local reptile store has these
So smart in this build. Quick install with the window. Nice 👍🏽
Have they changed these, the one in your video has a small lip, but on the website they all look to have a very huge lip in the front?
Honestly, not sure, I haven’t purchased another one in awhile
I imagine it depends on the substrate you'd be using, I have BPs in mine and the barrier is 4". But the small one that's a 24" has no barrier. Hope that helped.
If you use to large a cage the Ackie will go wild on you. I keep mine in 50 gal tanks. Then let them loose in the 12' by 12 ' atrium in my apartment. Ackies don't like temps over 110 degrees. I live in Tucson. The summer temps in the atrium are to hot and they beg to come in. They love eating other lizards more than anything.
How did you attach the hanging lights to the screen ?
I used small nuts and bolts
Are there good ?
Could you use play sand for a substrate provided you also use a moist dig box? Do babies burrow?
You can, but they are messy eaters, and drag their food in the substrate. Having something that doesn’t stick to the food is helpful
My little guy hates misting and preferes a drinking bowl
😁🥹
The Ecoflex cages are amazing, stong, light, actual glass doors. I have their 4x2x2, which is great for my baby tegu. Just wish they also came in larger sizes like 6, 7, 8ft long options.
They have a 5ft
Would you reccomended these for bioactive enclosures? I just bought one for my rainbow boa.
I would not, as they are not water proof, and springtails and other bio critters would get out.
How bout for bearded dragons?
They changed the design and they look alot less seamless. Im gonna get one as a quarantine/2nd tank but luckily Im a builder so custom one is easily done
Hey sir what shelving units are those ??
Husky rack system from Home Depot
Hi I just subscribed to you, first let me thankyou so much, you saved me tons of time and money, thanks to you I bought 3 New Age Pet ECOFLEX 48" Large cages, they are perfect, Please help me now..... I saw your comments on another video of the home depot heavy duty racks, they are still around 180$, a good deal. So im quessing one rack will hold 3 of these cages ? Also you mentioned it was a tight fit. Do I need to shave off some plastic on cage corners or not ? Could you please make a short video how to get these to fit or explain on a comment here ? I appreicate it, I commented on this video because its your newest so you're see it. Thank you so much, this will help me before I head to home depot.
I know video is old but I was window shopping (online) and they're precious but are still expensive. Some $700 . Nothing under $200 where I was looking. Not saying they aren't worth it but darn . Thanks for info
Just bought an ackie today. Thank you for the simplicity and streamlined video
Nice video! Just 2 questions. How many times do you feed them per week? And also, what do you mean by “spray the sides”?
We usually feed 2-3 times a week, with a little more frequency for babies and Gravid mothers. Spray the sides of the enclosure with water.
@@acaciareptilesthank you! one more question though. How do you clean the waste that they produce?
where did you bought the enclosure, and how much were they?
That is a custom enclosure that we built out of melamine
Thank you so much. Ordered one for my baby ackie monitor. Got the 4x2x2! Gonna include a dig box in there for it. Thanks !!!
And will do the same thing you did for lights
Do they need a uvb or heating light?
No on the UVB, but need to be supplemented with Calcium that has D3. Heat can be provided by a heat pad/tape on a thermostat
Can you tell me what type/brand of brackets you use to mount the heat lamps and the Florissant light. Thx.
The incandescent light brackets can be purchased on www.lightyourreptile.com The Flo recent is just held on with the clamps they came with.
The 12.0 are out of stock?
Is a Exo terra 18x18x12 good for one adult?
Yes, we keep individuals and pairs in sweater box size rack systems
these are great yes!
Need to know where to get the basking lights you have mounted inside
www.lightyourreptiles.com/miscellaneous-accessories/ This site has the fixtures, light bulbs, and heat projectors.
They live together just fine?
Where can I go to buy a Frilled Dragon online, what website do you recommend?
MorphMarket
Surprised most keepers dont replicate like alot of stacked rocks etc like their natural habitat?
I have 2 of these for my BPs. They are great and look great. They don't hold humidity well out of the box so i made 2 minor modifications. 1. I siliconed the entire inside edges. 2. Covered the top screen with insulation tape. It's been great ever since... can't beat the price
Do you have dome lights and uvb? If so did you mount them inside or kept them on top of the mesh?
@Pain-Glory no I don't have lights since I get enough natural lighting in the room. I have heat mats, connected to thermostats, under the substrate. Ground cool side is around 73 and gradually rises to around 90 on warm side. Ambient air temp is around 75. Humidity levels are between 70-85%. So far they are doing great...perfect sheds, excellent eaters, and cruise around all areas of cage.
@7Des7 uvb does not pass through normal house windows. So it will really not pass through the additional glass of the enclosure.
@unisonicz1 that is true but BP don't need uvb...I know this is a huge debate but to each his own. Mine are healthy, eating, shedding in full, and cruise the cage. No need to over complicate things.
@7Des7 correct, UVB can't hurt, can only help so may as well not overcomplicat it.
Great video but what about for a longer tank? Like 6ft? What’s your recommendation?
We have another video on our channel where we link them together for an 8ft enclosure. This cage covers a good majority of the typical animals kept in today’s hobby. Anything larger, like tegus or larger snakes, you are better off with building your own.
@@acaciareptiles Thank you, but I’m having a hard time finding affordable PVC board and tempered glass to build. Lowe’s doesn’t sell either one. And The Home Depot wants $1,216USD for one sheet of 6’x3’ tempered glass. Not sure what to do.
What kind of micro greens are these?
A mix of radish, arugula, and pea
I’m currently building a 6x2x2 Birchwood enclosure. Gonna line the inside with plastic sheeting and seal it all that way moisture doesn’t damage the wood. Got everything I need for about $600 which isn’t too bad compared to online prices with shipping
Hello I was wondering if there is a way to stack these tanks
Is that tote of sand you show in video deepe nough for nesting? I have a female ackie and im expeting fertilized eggs (:
Yes, ours always lay in there.
I know this video is a year old, but I just want to say that those mini acrylic enclosures are NOT good for anything requiring high humidity. The humidity will cause the acrylic to warp, ruining any sliding doors and leaving gaps for critters to escape through. They're fantastic for arid species, though, especially invertebrates. I use them for dwarf tarantulas and jumping spiders.
Heat causes that, not humidity lol
@@unisonicz1 I've never used them with any kind of supplemental heat. I've only had those problems with very high humidity enclosures.
@prairiepanda that is fine. As someone who works daily with acrylic, I can say humidity does nothing to it lol
When you say half and half sand and cocoa fiber, do you mean by weight or by volume? I did cup to cup and it does not hold a burrow. He still chills in there all the time, but he can't burrow. What did I do wrong?
Always volume. There’s a significant deference in 5 lbs of sand and 5 lbs of coco fiber
@natesullivan2456 ok. That's what I did, but it does not hold a burrow. They all collapse
what kind of shelving are you using ?
how about dog food?
You can use a high quality grain free, legume free, and soy free wet food, just as a treat.
Do the Arcadia Reptile Ceramic Lamp Holder & Bracket Pro you use have a UK plug or US plug? And if they are UK plugs how to you adapt them to your system? I can’t seem to find US ones anywhere online.
www.lightyourreptiles.com/miscellaneous-accessories/
Is this good for tortoise ?
Smaller species, such as pancake, Russian, and Egyptian would work well in these.
