I am not a mother however I’ve had to play a role more times than I’m willing to admit and what I want to say is if anybody feels like they’re being judged in the comment or being judgmental.... statistically speaking women work the equivalent of 70 hours per week that’s two jobs metaphorically speaking and on top of that they have to work for the most part. How does that sound... and when mothers have their breaking points, everybody shun them and looks down on them as if they should be perfect. One size does not fit all I don’t think people understand that.

Some people don't understand how much of a commitment it is to have a baby, you need to think about it a thousand times before, think and plan for a year or more, if you still want a baby, and you're phisically and mentally healthy, maybe you're ready, and don't have children just because your partner want to Also, i get that it's stressful, and your mental health can change, but now you have to raise a person I'm becoming more and more happy to be child free honestly

My mom didn't want children so badly that she didn't even try at all. It has impacted me my entire life. She pretended that after she gave birth that my siblings and I didn't exist. Be sure you want children before you have them. I think this is a really important topic and I'm glad it's being talked about.

My mom has told me many times that she loves us, but if she could go back, she wouldn't be a mom. It's all she ever wanted, to be a mom, but she doesn't think she's good at it. And AS someone who's literally suffered through 31-almost-32 years of her Bipolar/Narcissistic emotional abuse and whom she's whittled my self-esteem/self-worth down to NOTHING?? I CAN SEE WHY! I've wished MANY times that she hadn't had me either! X'D Some people SHOULD NOT be mothers, and I WISH more of those would-be moms could know that and know IT'S OKAY!

I've gone no contact with my narcissist mother as of a few days ago. I had gone NC before, but had a relapse ( due to her guilt-tripping me and claiming she's done nothing wrong) . Never. Again. After my recent meet up with her, feeling PHYSICALLY ill, stressed out, anxious, I'm done. I don't and WON'T put up with abuse or bullshit. While I'll never wish her harm, m mother is going to stay bitter and alone due to her behavior. One of things I noticed with her is that she hates that her kids (myself and my brother) are happy and living our lives. Anytime we tried to share something good or positive, she'd counter it with something negative. It was exhausting.

We were planning a meeting for my parents to see our kids. I had rules. No whispering, neutral location, kids were not to be alone. They had the gall to say I was abusive for not just letting them meet them anywhere, anytime. Yeah, f off.

My mom had me so she didnt have to have a job. So you can imagine how much effort she put towards me. Hint: at 29 i found out i was autistic after years of mental health struggles . She stayed at home so she can stay in bed because raising me wasnt a real job

He ended the engagement. I returned the ring. And this happened a year ago already. He and I had a good connection, we loved each other so much. But his mother was completely dependent on him, both mentally and financially. She was already 63, had no money and no place to live but her son's tiny rental apartment. I worked so hard to deal with his mom's situation before marriage, but every time i tried to sort out our finances to see whats really going on, he would get upset and say we make good money already, and things are all going well. Which wasn't true. We both work for a very high paying, stressful job but i knew it wont be enough to take care of his mom for the rest of her life. One day we argued over it again, the same issue, and he finally cut it off. Ever since then, im crying for a year now. He was my best friend. He loved me so much until he was able to hide his financial situation. The pain and terror of being abandoned is unbearable. I feel lost. I hope i can love someone again, but im not someone that falls in love easily, and it's difficult.😢

Truth is, if you are an adult, your behavior is your responsibility whether you had good examples or not.

It’s all about the college degree that you choose. I have a B.S. in Math, M.S. in Data Science, and MBA and now I’m applying to a doctorate program. I make over $250K annually working 9-5 with my company. By July, I’ve already maxed out my 401(k) and traditional IRA contributions for the year so I have no choice but to invest my extra income to index funds, CDs, and HYSA. I have zero student loan debt and I reached $1M in liquid net worth at age 42. I’m a millenial and I don’t regret my college degrees. Don’t get yours in basket weaving for heaven’s sake!

There is a phenomenon in people's early twenties where they realize the things their parents did wrong. Most young adults should be able to go through that and say, "My parents weren't perfect, but no one is. I'll try to do better when I have kids." No contact should be reserved for abuse, either mental or physical.

My issue is the entitlement, some people have kids for other people to take care of. They blame the grandparents or other family members for their choice to be a parent!

Excuse me, but that is super mean if not borderline evil to say, that you regret your children. I don’t think we should normalize it, because it’s not normal. We need to help these people find joy in parenthood and connect with their children. If you are spending 24/7 with your children, you better find ways to enjoy your time them, or you are going to have a bad life. This culture is sick.

Oh I prayed and begged God for years for a child , up until I had to raise my step kids full time and seen the horrific problems they had because of my ex husband and their bio mother , I ended up getting divorced because I realized I'm so grateful I never got pregnant and never had to actually live the rest of my life raising children, I'm so glad to have my freedom of no children and not having to worry about so many things , id rather make my own personal mistakes then messing up my child's life if I had a baby , so I'll be forever grateful, the expense and stress and craziness that comes with parenting full time yes I had my time , never again , absolutely not , my mother was absolutely awful and the story goes on , but I believe most parents don't fully love their kids and alot of the reasons people had kids was due to pressure of society , and the amount of things that are said the delusion people believe that having kids many things will level out and that most things will go away with time , not anymore, nothing is what it once was

hating motherhood doesn't mean you hate your child.

Kids always know if their parent/s hate and resent them. It's not fair to bring them into the world and treat them like that when they had zero say in it. It's okay to feel regret, but it's not okay to hate and blame them for a decision they didn't make.

My mother regrets me. I understand her 100%. As an adult, I don't judge her feelings. I'm aware of her context and I agree with her. She made all the sacrifices she could to take care of me, I don't blame her feeling left behind, I won't make her sacrifice her feelings too for me to feel loved, one thing is not related to the other. Responsible parents regrets kids because they do what needs to be done, even if it costs their on life. I respect so much this feelings and I hope people can fix their problems and have a good familiar life. I know many times it's not about the kids, but all the context of the family that is heavy.
