DIRECTIONAL LIGHTING HORNBY AND BACHMANN

DIRECTIONAL LIGHTING HORNBY AND BACHMANN
I just picked up one of these in blue. It's based on an American Plymouth Switcher. Red Buffer beams would help.
if you want reliability and Ease of use then the best option are magnetic couplings, but once again realism goes out the window, it seems you will never get both. So you need to make your mind up and stick with one system only.
Yes having realistic couplings is nice, but do fail at time, I think they are over rated. they are Never perfect unless you have an absolute flat railway.
people probably hate them so much because you see them everywhere and most of come from basic train sets, which people soon get tired of, they want something better more appropriate, most of are any different. if you do want to have 0-4-0's then I would say look at 009 gauge, as there is a lot more variety,
Forgot to change points
Has anyone converted one of these to DCC? I'm about to buy one and intending to convert it. Hattons say it can be converted to eg DCC compatible but no socket.
I have this model in mint condition, mine has cab fittings.
Ertl released a mixture of TV series, TATMRR movie and Railway Series characters. Lord Harry is from the Railway Series and Sir Handel is from the Railway Series/TV series. There are 10 ertl metallic models, Sir Handel is one of them.
Starter set loco
I only buy cheap locos.
I ended up using wire cutters to snip off the unnecessary detail to fit couplings as per instructions in a different heljan model. In general I dont even this nem stuff because you end up with droopy couplings which dont work very well and sometimes even drop down to foul the track.
How come you don't upload anymore? I get worried easily, and that means I'm abit worried to be honest
The Hornby guide says this was from the 2007 range but the printed window frames and wire handrails suggest to me it uses the tooling from their original 1979 "Western Courier", which had 3 weights: a metal block inside the valence and two silver coloured metal cab interiors to put a bit of weight over the wheels. It seems odd offering a weathered model but without any can detail so I think a prior owner must have taken them all out.
These are some cool designs! I particularly like Substitute, Bumblebee and Blackout! 😊
My grandfather has a shit load of model train and they all have tension lock couplers but I dont know what scale his trains are, however they are CN (Canadian national)
I actually just purchased this because of this video. FYI Thomas and friends had a few episodes with the circus train. It wasn’t just something Hornby made up. Truth be told, I kinda wish Bachman would make the circus stuff too
If you want your points too look realistic than you paint all the rails with a rust colour and the tops of the flange rails a rusty colour to, not silver like you have! Anyway, small hornby points are badly made they are made so that the the curves are too sharp. You be better off using Peco points and avoid the set-track range as they are not much different to hornby points use pecos Streamline range.
Have a look at John’s Amazing Trains for the R965 controllers he modified. I followed his example successfully
This locomotives are great 👍 I have one too.
The company is Beatties not BeattLes. Well known in 60's and 70's chain of model shops originally the Southgate Model Shop before they opened a chain of shops in UK
Very nice demonstration, I have the original Lionel version of the exploding wagon, the Tri-ang version looks virtually identical (aside from the Battle Space theme).
Why doesn't Hornby produce a 2/3 car green DMU with the ",V" speed whiskers or a green class 37, or even a Black 5 express set?
that eurostar train is fast, surprised it hasn't derailed yet, those tracks must be some good quality tracks if the train didn't derail
10th like! Pin pls!
the magnet was 'magadhesion' or some such name, strangely neither of my Caledonians have this magnet. Havent pulled the Lord of the Isles apart to check. Why the magnet stopped the rear wheels turning I dont know, suggests maybe that they have been stood so long they have actually become magnetised themselves
You said third controller was made by Beatles it was in fact made by defunct toy shop store Beatties.
Is the 40 a jouef or lima
I had 040 O guage clockwork as a kid, then later 040 OO...they are fanatastic and the best runners..
Mine runs anywhere on my layout, 1st radius, must have been the bogey issue mate ?, mine can pull 12 tankers up my inverted hill upto 6 inches above no spinning
I have number 4 and 6 of these Class anyone know if hornby do any other numbers?
You gave the Bachmann deltic 2 for performance - I'd give your review 1 out of 5 - at least you admit at the end you created the running problems for yourself - Bachmann and many other current models are for 2nd radius and above curves. If you compared a Bachmann and Lima class 55 you would be comparing a scale model with a toy (imho) and on 2nd radius curves on a layout with gradients the bachmann would score 4-5 for running performance and the lima 2-3. Cant wait to try the Accurascale model in the next week or so - the professional reviews are outstanding
Good video. Most of my rolling stock has the Relex-couplings (the ones used by Märklin, Piko, etc). They are also quite strong and can couple if there is a difference in height. But I like tension lock couplings for the fact that they are keeping rolling stock at the perfect same distance, less chance for derailments when the locomotive is pushing the train.
I have one 7 years and two motors later, love it 😀
i love 0-4-0 locos i have two but i want all of the
backgound noise so annoying
Great idea 💡 👍
Some people in this hobby are a bunch of wankers. I love the 0-4-0 especially the newer slower versions. They run nice and smooth
I've got that 86 first test run I ripped the Pantagraph off on the first tunnel
It's because like the full size Deltic, the bodywork covers a lot of the wheels so the bogies cannot articulate enough for tight radius curves.
0-4-0 are perfect for me and my 3 year old son. We only have a 1st radius loop and these fly around no worries. And if one gets broken, not to worry, they around £20 2nd hand on eBay.
I just cut them off the trucks on 3 coaches that were shipped with the HO Scotsman set They were one piece cheeply molded into the trucks . Not even a NEM pocket. I didn't expect crap like that from Hornby given what I paid. Using nice Kadee pieces I have been able to retrofit the coaches with knuckle couplers. Used a KaDee #19 for Tender and front of Scotsman.
I like this models but there not that much variety, yes there are dozens of liveries but are all the same toolings
Wooooo, looks like look it will come hurtling off the track
Yeah, the tender driven Flying Scotsman… I can’t say. It’s probably best to just buy a Railroad loco-driven Scotsman and detail it up yourself, that’s what I did, without the detailing bit of course. For the others, maaaybe they’ll be good for scrap. You can never have too much set dressing.
Your video was great. I love 0 4 0 locomotives. If you don't have a lot of space they are perfect. Imagine a small country station in the 1930s, the next train to come into the station would probably be a small tank loco with possibly two coaches. So the 0 4 0s would have been ideal for a short county branch line. Well done .
What is it with you Brits.running your locos like race cars?
Hi I don't know where you got the idea that folks hate the 0-4-0 locos, just look around on e-bay and see the number that are for sale. If folks did not like them they would not be buying them. The one pain in the but if there are any is the stalling on that big carbuncle of a plastic frog on Hornby's points it really should have been binned years ago and a better set of points brought in similar to the peco set up. Yes I take your point of the speed of the locos but that is once again down to the maker making the gearing not of a better ratio. I also take you to task over getting them to crawl if the wheels are spotlessly clean and the track like wise they will respond and crawl along at a snails pace in my experience anyway. So I like really these locos and if serviced regularly and wheels kept clean there is nothing wrong with these Hornby 0 4 0 locomotives
I love these D class tanks. They all run great but these especially run great
the thomas loco you looking for is DART
i also here they changed the motor and the pinion to make it run slower and not like all there old pocket rockets
