The Winged Hhussars were formed in 1503 and disbanded in 1776.The task of the Winged Hussars during the battle was to penetrate the enemy formation and break its ranks… For the Winged Hussars, only God, Honor, Fatherland mattered. Their motto was the belief that "if the sky fell on them, they would hold it up with their lances". They were characterized by: courage, brotherhood, sacrifice. It was the best cavalry and a tough one at that of its time and their history went down in history, as can be attested by the statements of people famous in their era: -Oh! If I had such a cavalry, I would camp with my infantry this year in Constantinople. - Gustav Adolf - King of the Swedes. Victorious battles of the Polish Hussars (Winged Hussars) In each of the battles fought by the Winged Hussars, the enemy outnumbered them in numbers and cannons. Winged Hussars victories: Kleck-1506-vict./Orsza-1514-vict./Obertyn-1531-vict./Lubiszew-1577-vict./Mohylew-1581-vict./Byczyna-1588-vict./Curtea de Argesz-1600-vict./Kieś-1601-vict./Kokenhausen 1601-vict./Revel-1602-vict./Rakvere-1603-vict./Biały Stone-1604y.-vict./KIRCHOLM-1605y.-VICT./Udycz-1606y.-vict./Gawia-1609y.-vict./KŁUSZYN-1610y.-vict./Moscow-1611y.-vict./Kropimojza-1621-vict./CHOCIM-1621y.-vict./Gniew-1626y.-vict./Trzciana-1629y.-vict./Smolensk-1633y.-vict./Ochmaów-16 44y.-vict./Beresteczko-1651y.-vict./Mohylew-1655y.-vict./Domany-1655y.-vict./Warka-1656y.-vict./Połonka-1660y.-vict./Kutyszcze-1660y.-vict./Basia-1660y.-vict./CHOCIM-1673y-vict./Lwów-1675y.-vict./WIEDEŃ-1683y-VICTORY/Chodów-1694y-vict. The tactics of the Winged Hussars were to scatter and spread panic. For this purpose, they lined up in only two rows. In the first row, on the left end, stood the captain, on the right, the lieutenant. The hussars were not just the hussars. It was a real military organization. It was the armored fist of the Republic of Poland. Perfectly trained militarily, physically and on horseback, the best military equipment for those times, selected horses that were trained and treated equally with the rider. For selling, killing or wounding a hussar horse there was an immediate cap. A hussar horse underwent training for 2 years and its sale abroad was punishable by death. I will add that our cavalry was the best in the world at that time, as was their equipment. But for information, the hussar horse was able to cover distances at a fast pace for 3 days without a break. It was a horse crossed with our ancestors of the tarpan and the current Lesser Poland horse with Arabian horses and attention! Akhal-Teke horses, which made these horses extremely durable and fast. Our hussars are an example for other nations. A hussar horse was worth an entire village, was very valuable and was not afraid of anything.

A word about the wings: while they did stand out on the battlefield in order to strike fear by making the enemy aware he was facing an elite formation, a common misconsception seems to be that the wings made a sound in the wind, supposedly further boosting the fear factor. While this is a popular belief, it is likely false. The main reason for the wings was because the image of an eagle has been a part of Polish national crest pretty much since the dawn of our nationality. As for the reason why Hussars were held in such high regard, one rarely talked about, was simply because they were a bunch of tough, disciplined, well-trained and well-equipped soldiers who (as members of "szlachta") enjoyed special privileges given by the king in exchange for their military service in times of need. It wasn't until the wars with Sweden in the 17th and 18th century that the dominance of the Hussars was finally broken, with many historians considering that period to be even more destructive to Poland as a whole than the conflict with Germany during WWII.

Cheers from Warsaw! :) I like your videos and your positive attitude. Answering your Q, the Warsaw Metro is expanding with the addition of the M3 and M4 lines to be construcked in near future and the 5th line by 2050. The aim is that out of all the 18 city districts, 17 will be connected by Metro, and that more than half of Warsaw's residents will have a metro station within a short walking distance. M3 Line will connect the districts of Praga-Południe and Ochota, passing through the city center. It will include several new stations, enhancing connectivity in the southern and central parts of Warsaw. M4 Line will be the longest in the Warsaw Metro system, stretching approximately 26 km. It will connect Białołęka in the north to Wilanów in the south. M5 Line will go from the western suburb called Ursus through the downtown to Praga Południe on the eastern side of the Vistula river.

It is great that you can see universal values in our patriotic song Rota (1910). It's lyrics were written and published by a famous Polish poet two years earlier as her angry reaction to Prussian regulatory acts resulting in expropriation of Polish farmers in the German part of partitioned Poland (in the case since 1772 and 1793). And as at that time there was little hope for Poles to fight back their lands, it seemed that they could only pass their claims to descendants, which idea was presented in the song. And true, strong faith and spirit are the qualities, we all need to endure hardships or even the worst adversaries, which is what the song is about.

Quite a bit of misinformation being stated here ... The Battle of Britain Roll of Honour (the official factual account) states that 145 Polish Pilots flew in the Battle alongside 380 Pilots from other countries and 2400 British Pilots. They flew in the RAF using British aircraft and equipment. They had two of the best fighters of WW2 in the British Supermarine Spitfire and the British Hawker Hurricane and were greatly assisted by that great British invention RADAR. There was no "bill" paid by Poland to Great Britain after the war. The betrayal of Poland after the war (which was a shameful decision) was an Allied decision not a British one. Everyone in Great Britain has the upmost respect for the few brave Poles that escaped when Poland fell as they do for all the conquered peoples of Europe who fled to our land. However the Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Merchant Navy and British Army were made up of mainly British servicemen and women who paid a terrible price to help free Europe.

Yes, that's right the Polish winged hussars were the best cavalry ever! Here are some victories of the Hussars, mostly they fought against significant superior in numbers enemies! This is far from a complete list of hussar victories! A large number of battles throughout Polish history were epic and at least many of them were absolutely unique, especially the battles of the Hussars! All these battles of polish Hussars which I describe below were victorious! The polish Hussars were undefeated for over 100 years! The attacks by the hussars in all these battles were mostly decisive for the Polish victories in these battles. All the numbers are historically verified! No exaggeration here! 1531 Battle of Obertyn: Polish empire 6500 with 2,500 Hussars vs. Moldavia 17,000 cavalry! The devastating attacks of the Hussars with the Polish heavy cavalry decided the battle. But Poland also won because the Polish commander was completely tactically superior, so that the enemy was unable to exploit his numerical advantage. Losses: Poland 256 and Moldavia 8,746. 1562 Battle of Nevel: 1,500 Poland vs. 25,000 Russia. The enemy troops were completely worn down by various attacks of the Hussars and by shelling from the Polish artillery and arquebusiers. But Poland also won because the Polish commander was completely tactically superior, so that the enemy was unable to exploit his numerical advantage. Casualties: Poland only 16 and 8,000 Russia! 1577 Battle of Lubieszów: Poland 1,450 Hussars and Polish vassal Principality of Transylvania 1,050 infantry vs. Gdansk 12,000. The Hussars attacked the flank, with this, the entire Gdansk army broke and fled, and the hussars kept up the chase right to the Gdansk city gates. Losses: Gdansk 4400 dead and 5,000 taken prisoner, Poland and the vassal 100 wounded, 88 deaths 1581 Battle of Mogilev, Siege of Mogilev (Mixture of battle and siege): Poland 200 Hussars, 314 Petyhorcy medium cavalry and 500 garrison of Mogilev vs. 30,000 Russians and Tatars. The hussars carried out various sorties to stop the attackers from storming the fortification. During one of these hussar attacks, Polish reinforcements of 314 medium cavalry, these troops recognized that the Polish troops were attacking and in turn attacked the enemy troops from the flank. The enemy troops were so surprised by the attack of the Polish reinforcements that they thought a large army had appeared and fled in panic. This escape then caused panic among the entire enemy besieging army, which then also fled pursued by the Polish cavalry, which also ended the siege. Losses: Poland only many were wounded, Russians and Tatars unknown. 1600 Battle of Curtea de Argeș: Poland 1450 with 950 Hussars, vs. 7,000 Wallachia. Since the Hussars bore the brunt of the battle, one can find out that they have defeated 7 times the number! 1601 Battle of Wenden: Poland 700 with 350 hussars vs. 3,000 Swedish. The battle is significant as the first encounter of Swedish heavy Ryttare and Polish Hussars. After the attack of only 350 Polish Hussars the fight did not last long, and the Swedish cavalry fled. When the panicked Swedish cavalry tried to escape across the frozen Gauja River, the ice broke under the weight of the horses, causing additional casualties. Losses: Poland 10 dead 60 wounded, Sweden 1,900. 1601 Battle of Kokenhausen: Poland 3000 with 1000 Hussars vs. Sweden 4,900! The Hussars decided the battle with their devastating attacks. The hussars first broke the Swedish left flank. The Swedish counterattack on the right flank, which while initially successful, was in turn broken by the decisive Hussar counterattack. The hussars attack greatly reduced the Swedish troops! The demolition work was completed by the Polish artillery on the Swedish infantry who have barricaded themselves behind trenches and chevals de frize. The 2,000 Swedes who had besieged Koknese Castle, wanting no part in the battle, had surrendered. Losses: Poland 200 and Sweden 3,000! 1604 Battle of Weissenstein: Poland 2300 vs. Sweden 5000! The Swedish army was pushed to the swamp by the Hussars. Losses: Sweden 3000, Poland: 50 and 100 wounded. 1604 Battle of Novgorod-Seversky: Poland 15,000 vs. Russia 40,000 including 1500 in garrison of Novhorod-Siverskyi. The Hussars routed the right wing of the Russian army, put the center in a disarray and wounded Prince Mstislavsky. Losses: Poland significant, Russia 4,000! 1605 Battle of Kircholm: Poland and the Vasal Duchy of Courland 3,440 with 1,750 Hussars vs. Sweden 10,868! The Hussars launched a devastating charge against the enemy which ended the battle in the decisive victory of the Polish forces. The battle was decided in all of 20 minutes by the devastating Hussar attack! Losses: Poland 100 killed and 200 wounded, Sweden 7,600-8,000. 1610 Battle of Klushino: Poland 6,800 with 5,600 Hussars vs. 35,000 Sweden and Russia. The enemies outnumbered the Polish army 5 to 1. A crushing victory of Polish army. The enormous size of the enemy army made that the hussars have to charge even 10 times until the enemy troops were finally crushed. In this battle the Swedes again made the mistake of using caracole tactics with their heavy ryttare because their attempt to employ caracole tactics ended disastrously when they were overrun by the hussars. After the hussars attack, the entire Swedish cavalry fled the battlefield in panic with their commander! The battle opened the way for Poles to Moscow, where Polish prince Władysław became the tsar. Losses: Poland 400 , Russia and Sweden 5,000. 1621 Battle of Khotyn: Poland 25,000 and 20,000 Cossaks vs. 120,000-160,000 Ottomans and Tatars. Around 10,000 Ottomans moved to attack, but only 650 Hussars counterattacked. The medium cavalry Sipahi could not withstand the charge and they retreated chaotically. The hussar charges inflicted heavy casualties and had a huge negative impact on the morale of the Ottoman army. Losses: Ottomans 40,000, Poland 14,000! 1660 Battle of Kutyszcze: 140 Polish Hussars vs. 3,500 Russians and Cossacks! The troop ratio was 25:1! Two incomplete Hussar banners operating in the east of the empire, caught up the retreating Russian-Cossacks army. 140 Hussars devastated 3,500 Russian cavalry and Cossack infantry, gaining an enemy stock. The hussars had no losses and the Russian losses are unknown. 1649 Battle of Loyew: Poles 6,000 vs. 40,00 Cossacks. The hussar attacks contributed significantly to the victory. When the Cossacks retreated to a wagon fort, the hussars showed that they could also fight very well as infantry, because they of course dismounted to attack the wagon fort. Losses: Cossacks 7,000, Poland unknown. 1672 Battle of Komarno: 2,500 Poles (1,500 hussars) vs. 10,000 Tatars. The slaughter of the invaders by the Hussars who bore the brunt of the battle continued until nighttime. Losses: Poland were low and Tatars 8,500. 1672 Battle of Kałusz: 1,500 Hussars supported by several thousand militiamen vs. 8,000 Ottomans and Tatars. The hussar attack shattered the enemy troops, who then began to flee. The terrain was very difficult for the cavalry when the Tatars on their escape got to the forest and so they dismounted their horses and continued to flee on foot. But thousands militiamen armed with rifles, scythes and axes were waiting for them in the woods. They finished the slaughter. So in banging and slashing the Tartars, Polish soldiers were joined by militiamen who swept the local woods. Losses: Poland only a few wounded, Ottomans and Tatars 6000 and 150 captured. 1673 Battle of Khotyn: Poland 30,000 with 1670 husars vs. 35,000 Ottomans. The hussars defeated the Ottoman Sipahi cavalry which made victory possible! Losses: Poland 2,000 Ottomans 20,000. 1675 Battle of Lwów: Poland 6,000 versus 20,000 Ottomans! Hussars smashed the Ottoman cavalry, causing a general panicked escape, with the Hussars chasing the surviving Ottoman cavalrymen until dusk. 1683 Battle of Vienna: The most famous battle of the hussars! Hussars’s charge of Polish king Jan III Sobieski broke the siege of Vienna and forced the Ottoman army to retreat. 1694 Battle of Hodów: 100 hussars and 300 Pancerni vs. 40,000 Crimean Tatars! A victory because all enemy attacks were repelled and the enemy then retreated! One of several Polish battles known as Polish Thermopylae. First the 400-strong Hussars and Pancerni smashed the 700 Tatar vanguard. When the Poles realized that the enemy was completely superior in numbers, they retreated to the village of Hodów, which they fortified with everything they had at their disposal. For 6 hours, one Tatric wave after another attacked the Poles, but all of them were repulsed. When the Poles ran out of ammunition, they fired at their opponents by putting arrows into pistols. Unable to defeat the Poles, the Tatars sent Polish-speaking Lipka Tatars who defected to the enemy to convince the Polish troops to surrender. The Polish commander replied "Come and get us if you can". Thereupon the Tatars withdrew and gave up on the entire raid. This example reflects the knightly spirit in which the Polish riders were raised into. Honor, bravery, and sacrafice for the homeland were valued the most amongst the Polish Husaria. They would often say: “Let the sky fall and we will hold it up with our lances”. So 100 hussars and 300 Pancerni successfully repelled the attack of about 40,000 Crimean Tatars and forced the enemy to retreat. Incredible that 400 against 40,000 have prevailed but really true! What is the difference betwen 300 Spartans of the Thermopylae and 400 Hussars and Pancerni of Hodów? Hussars and Pancerni won their fight. In this battle, as in several others, it became clear that the Polish Pancerni cavalry was also outstanding.

With the taxes, I think it depends on the job you have. For example my dad is self-employed, he's a dentist, has a little clinic in my family home. He doesn't need any acountant, he does every form by himself. The problem is, each month he can earn different sum of money, but since he's working the same job since pretty much the 90's, he simply fills in the form with the sum that he thinks he'll get. Once every year though, he brings every form throughout the year and fills in another form to clarify everything. Only after that, every year he'll get back the tax, if he put in too much, or he needs to pay up, if he put up too little. It would be easier with an acountant, true, but my dad just likes the forms I guess XD
