These things are fine, if you are able to afford the high cost of parts and service costs, for many everyday Joe's it's cost efficiency which is a large part of the ownership point, especially right now with the current world situation.
Greetings from N.I. just heard at the last of the Vlog after i made the first comment , it would be very interesting to see your Arnhem vlog as my Father was on the first wave of landing craft to hit Juno beach on D- day, and I traced his movements on his journey. Regards Robert
do you find the GSA more comfortable because the seats are different from the R1250 GS standard. ??
I had a 1200 Rallye so not sure about the 1250 standard. The GSA Has a bit more room for both of us.
@@the_mad_leprechaun thats interesting as the seats fit both bikes as in the same space, I find the standard gs seat very uncomfortable and the GSA a good bit better.
@@49googieprobably the issue is with the foam used 🤷🏻♂️
@@kevindarkstar Horrendous, its got worse the more miles i do i'm at 20k
@@49googie yeah I think it's a hard foam to start and gets worse with time 😳
Not wishing to piss on your chips but having had a few of these I would now not be given one !! Sounds like you are the lucky one ?? I simply can not afford to run one with £190 per hour servicing costs and parts that are stupid prices .. I now ride a Benelli T.R.K. 502 and find it apart from the power to be every bit as good for less than half the price but the power is more than enough !! Anyway good luck with the bike if you are happy that's all that really matters !!
Mate.... Who's Julie at 2:43 mins in ...?
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆 that’s 2 minutes of my life I will never get back!! 😂
I’ll take your weather over our 95F/35C! Riding in the mountains is great but I miss the smell of a cool, damp day at the sea. If the bike is doing well, maybe hold on to it? Mine will be 3 in March - I figure if I will keep it (and I love it) it’s cheaper to buy an extended warranty for a couple more years than a new bike with as-yet unproven design. Quite the bit of handiwork on that post box topper. Looking forward to your trek in September if you decide to record it 👍
It’s a keeper mate.
Yep and so is my Sally O’Kins 😁
Lovely Heybridge well worth a visit. 1250 is a brilliant bike, think it's a keeper? 😊
Don't you just love the British weather. I can understand you hanging onto the 1250. It's a very difficult bike to better. We're hanging onto our bikes while they remain reliable. The coffee stop looked lovely. That post box capper looked amazing. Some very talented people with knitting needles.
What tyres did you use previously?
First set were from the factory Michelin Anakee really didn’t like them! Continental trail attack 3, they were very good. But for me the Dunlop is even better! Hope that helps! Murt
@@the_mad_leprechaun were they Anakee adventure?
@roadwarrior8560 yes! They came on the bike from BMW. Some people love them and don’t agree with what I have said about them in the past. And that’s ok! I couldn’t wait to see the back of them. Horrible tyres! 😆😆👍

Looks like you both had a brilliant time. Great footage, love the little parachute thing to presumably keep the speed down.

Good morning Vincent. Thank you for your message. Unfortunately I am kind of new to doing reviews and some brands won’t let me ride their bikes. As I understand it the Honda costs less to put onto the road. Thank you for watching 😁👍 Murt

Hi Tony are you the tony from barlby and i am pat drury from siding lane what date are you in Assen i would like to see you
Hi I am Murt Walsh. This is an interview I did with Tony and Steve. Thank you for watching.
I had a Speed Triple, 675r Daytona, Ducati 800 s2r and currently a used 2007 Ktm 990 Super Duke. The Duke was getting older and service and repairs were frustrating me. So I wanted a fun new second bike that was budget friendly. Lots of great reviews on the ktm 390 duke ( all years ). So I got the 2024 because it really looked like a big step up from the 2023. Pros: what you get for the price is Top shelf. The quickshifter is only $250 and works flawlessly. It’s a 390 and I think it rides like a 500-600cc bike. I can keep up with all my buddies. 52 mpg, service windows long, add on parts cheaper. I will get a newer 890 or 990 but this 390 duke is a keeper, just plain fun with plenty of power for the roads we ride. Cons: I miss the bigger rubber of a larger bike. Still waiting for good exhaust choices. It’s too new. Maybe the seat tips forward a bit. Workable, you can play with the sag. It’s a pocket rocket so if it fits in your pocket it’s going to be different than my 1000cc bike cockpits. It’s less then half the cost of the 990 duke. I wanted something that rides like a ktm duke for $6000 and man this thing does not disappoint. Lastly I’ll say it is the best beginner bike you could buy and a lot of experienced riders own one in their garage, because they enjoy bikes that are fun to ride.a
Hello Michael 😁 thank you for your message! Hope you enjoyed what I put together! Nice to hear that you are enjoying riding and having fun on your 390! I wonder what KTM will give me next! Or what would you like me to ride? Thank you for watching and making comments. Means a lot! Murt 😁👍
@@the_mad_leprechaun thanks for doing all the work to put these videos out. I know it takes alot of time. I think your gear box mystery was maybe this…… when I got mine I couldn’t believe how I had to go from 1st to 2nd to 3rd almost immediately and 3rd would be great but not a tall gear at all. So you would jump up to 4th to get to 50mph. Your meant to really rev this thing to get the most out of each gear but even so, you have to switch a lot when road conditions require it. Maybe a 5 speed gear box would be a better fit, I don’t know. For my next bike I think it will be a ktm 790, 890 or the new 990. Now if you compared and contrasted those bikes that would be very useful because they each have gotten good reviews and are great road bikes but differ in price by a lot. I live 40 min North of the Golden Gate Bridge and that Ktm torque was made for the Marin county twisty roads to the Pacific. Even the 390 duke can rail with any bike, but when you hit the freeway you do feel like you want something bigger under you. Especially when it’s really windy.
I’m 6 foot tall. The bike fits, but feels smaller than my 1000 cc naked bikes. But rides great just different than the larger bikes. I think I can do stuff on this 390 that that is harder for the larger bikes when it comes to backroads twisties
good vid on channel as always keep up the good vid you do
Thank you Lee! Much appreciated. I have a video I’d like to share with you!
Like the look of this bike, good review as usual, perhaps you should test ride it's bigger brother 😊

Another great review always get the need to knows on a bike
Hello Dean, thank you buddy! The 390 is not the bike for the likes of you and me, but it is a serous entry level motorcycle. 😁👍
Was hoping to actually have a full review of the mutants given the title 🙃 but no idea what mileage to expect from the rear. But you seem to get big mileage from tyres somehow. You just ride extremely conservatively.
Yea I get that! I made this video really early part of this year and to be honest I was super impressed by the tyres. So did the review. Having now done some 4k on the tyres I am still super impressed. There is a small amount of road noise which I hadn’t noticed at first, however very low! Grip is very impressive and the roll into and out of corners is like nothing else I have ever used. Confidence inspiring. The Dunlop mutant now let me ride my 1250 gsa the way I want to. Tyre life I probably squeeze a few more miles out of the life of a tyre. Pleasure riding, touring and commuting to work! Hope that helps! Murt
thx bro

@mamlukavlogs6353 hello, unfortunately no! I am kind of new to doing reviews. So I am only allowed to have any motorbike for max 4 hours. Sorry I can’t help you with that! But thank you for tuning in! 👍
I'm 173 cm or 5´8" and 84 kg/185 Pounds the normal seat height was no problem for me. I could flat foot the left and keepting the right still on the peg at red lights. All in all I really liked this bike for what it is. I didnt even think the bike feelt that heavy and I'm coming from a super light KTM Duke 890R
If I had the money I would have one in my Garage! I loved it! 👍 cheers buddy!
Hi Murt . I bought these jeans recently and agree they are great jeans . Took them on a recent trip to Ireland and wore them just as much off the bike as on . Having short legs ( jeans got altered by local seamstress) I found the same issue with the knee armour pockets to the point I took it out ( I know kind of defeats the object) but will get that altered as well . Great review ... enjoy the ABR
I like and use riding jeans. These look very good. I'm currently using Knox AAA rated but they are single layer so I don’t completely understand how they gained their rating. Mine are reasonably close fitting so the armor stays where it should be. I think I prefer my riding jeans slightly longer than my regular ones as I still want them covering my boots when sat in a riding/crouch position on the bike.
good vid keep up the good vids
Thank you very much Lee hope you are keeping well!
I think I may have to pay them a visit, I need some summer gloves 😊
Needs cruise control, looks like an ideal multi purpose bike, I might change from my DL 650 if they add cruise. Great video. subbed.

Please read the additional comment below my video! I still love this tyre and have ridden many miles on it since this video. However these is an amount of road noise off of the mutant. I did say that I couldn’t hear any. Thank you for your message! Murt
I've had the same problem when I testrode a triumph street twin some 8 years ago. So I came home and said to my wife look, here's the deal...I'm gonna buy that bike. Amazingly enough she said well go ahead then. 😳😳

@@the_mad_leprechaun Ooooh no you don't know her at all. A NO is a NO, then it's time for me to stop arguing 😇 Unfortunately she is usually right
Seriously contemplating a new one of these,, iv got a 2020 v strom 650 xt atm with only 6000 miles on it, its a great bike but a little under powered at times.
I was able to pull illegal speeds no problem with the 776cc engine! Really pleasurable bike to ride. More than enough technology on it. Go have a test ride. 👍🏍️
I know you mentioned this near the end of your (excellent) review, but thought I’d double check: The bike was tall enough so your knees didn’t ache? (I’m 6’3” with 36” inseam.) Also: was it top heavy? Or easy to maneuver when stopped?
Hello Alan. Thank you very much for your message. Keep in mind I have these bikes for about 2 hours. My knees didn’t feel cramped and I really did find the bike comfortable. Also the bike felt really easy to manoeuvre around at low speed. Out of the 2 bikes I tested. DE and RE I preferred the DE! Hope that helped. Murt 👍

That is a very good looking bike, and would be a great upgrade from my Bandit, but having just recently having a 45 minute test ride on the new Africa twin (standard manual) I was blown away on how comfortable it was. Great video Murt.👍🏻
Ohhhhhh and another adventure rider is born! Cheers buddy ride safe! 😆👍
Good looking bike, nice review. 😊
🏍️💨😁👍
Interesting first thoughts 👍This bike should really interest me, sporty, touring, suits taller person and Japanese reliability. But... I've sat on this bike and that seat is too narrow for all day comfort. Narrowed down so shorter riders can reach the floor Finally, is a 12K redline sportsbike engine conducive with relaxed touring? I would imagine you need to rev the thing to experience the best out of that engine. Think it's why BMW sell so many GS's..... low end grunt. Sorry but still not keen on those Suzuki stacked headlights.
I found the engine very laid back and had no issues riding it on the small roads. And you know what I ride. However I tend to agree with you on the lighting issue. If it’s just a styling exercise then what’s the point if they are no good at night. Thank you as always Richard take care. 😁👍
