HOW TO REPLACE GAGGIA SHOWER SCREEN HOLDER MOD FOR GAGGIA CLASSIC PRE 2015 COFFEE SENSOR
Hello, what is the update on this one please? About to purchase the geisinger devices, but would love to have it combined with the pressure. I understand you urge to instal LCD but I think design wize black puck without LCD looks just awesome. We now have so many old phones laying around home doing nothing.
What do you have to disassemble for grouphead maintenance?
Nice idea! The display looks pretty small so far sighted people like me may need to bend down to read it. Would it make sense to put the display at an angle so it's easier to read it line of sight from the position you're using the machine in?
Good idea but expensive to make an angled adapter for the group head. If I want to keep the sale price at the current level, hard to implement...
What if already have the PDK? Do need whole new system?
If you have the original PPK (piston pressure kit), then you need just the AirBuster.
Link to led mod gives error 404.
I really like the new videos with you speaking!
Thank you !
Yes, but what if you have a heatsink?
Can't use it unfortunately. I did make a prototype, a heat sink with an incorporated gauge, but the biggest problem I had was creating enough front pressure to keep it strong against the group head (for best thermal contact). An oring was keeping it in place but no pressure as I said. Hard to make the perfect product. Plus, most users use the isolator and not heat sinks. The number of users is, unfortunately for them, smaller by a lot.
Super informative, thanks!
Thanks for watching !
Why did you put grease on the boiler-to-group head gasket? It is not a moving part.
Grease creates a protective layer during usage, regardless static or moving gasket.
Is there a way to do this to non e61 machines like Bezzera bz10?
I dont have a solution for those machines, sorry !
I love you... the instructions from shades of coffee are poorly written in my opinion. You saved my sanity :)
I know written things are hard and not the thing we sellers must do in 2025. So yes, a video means a million words !
excellent vid. is there a certain torque level we should tighten to?
will this work on a la pavoni expo 2015 model? thanks
What kind of tape did you use?
Simple Teflon tape available here also: coffee-sensor.com/product/plumbers-tape-ptfe-tape-for-servicing-or-installing-kits-or-parts-on-coffee-machines/
Love this for future reference!
It was very helpful that you mentioned the tool size for the gauge. I believe I used a 15mm socket for the M11 adapter. Very easy installation, thank you!
Where to buy ?I live in Thailand or Belgium
Hi. coffee-sensor.com/product/b-push-steam-valve-by-coffee-sensor/
Since so many of these kits exist, both in DIY and pre-packaged kit form, it would be great if you could share the in-line fuse value. Lots of people just don’t install one but it seems like an important safety measure. I read somewhere that the contacts on the XMT7100 are rated to 3 amps, but this might not be reliable info. Kindly share the fuse value to help the DIY community stay safe :)
An extremely easy installation process! The video instructions are very clear, can't wait till I make another coffee. Thank you, Mr Tudor.
did you take out the SSR from the PID or is it stock?
Stock.
Cool video, thx a lot. Question pls: the LED is no longer available? Which type did you use and where to buy else? Thx 👍
It's now available again !
Does the isolator comes with the O ring and new bolts?
Yes, two o rings and the two stainless bolts.
does the hot water go through this plastic?
Asking again
Yes it does. Inside the sleeve you have the piston and piston gaskets, moving up and down, getting the water inside it and then, because of the lever movement, getting it towards the coffee puck !
Bought this months ago and finally got around to the upgrade last night. Wish I'd found this video yesterday, would have saved me an hour of headache because i didn't know i should go counterclockwise first! Finall got it in straight and feel very good about it, no more plastic, now the sleeve is stainless steel. The pulls are SO MUCH SMOOTHER and temps just a bit cooler but where I want it and seems to be more temp stable. Lovely upgrade for my Esperto Abile. Thanks fot the great parts and video!! One question, I will need new gaskets later this year for the Esperto Abile. Can you provide a link to the correct package i should buy? Thanks!
The best kit is this one, just created by me for users that don't want or need problems during a service: coffee-sensor.com/product/la-pavoni-lever-ultimate-silicone-service-kit-for-any-lp-lever-machine/
@coffeesensor6612 thanks!!
When will this be ready to purchase, please?
This year we try to release it !
Hi, in my case i have a Elektra with that problem to much temperature in the brew group and i find on the internet one seal similiar of this to Pavoni and it´s result good! yes
end game coffee machine - looking forward for the release of the product, good luck!
Where do you get the wrench to fit inside boiler?
coffee-sensor.com/product/la-pavoni-lever-custom-steam-valve-removal-tool-or-wrench/
And I thought I was the only one 🙂. I've had my Kinu grinder for about 3 years and my La Pavoni (no bluetooth) for about 6 months. They work great together. I've made many purchases from Coffee Sensor. Highly recommend.
Appreciate it! I will motorized the Kinu for sure and leave it on the counter top. Imho it's the top hand grinder.
@@coffeesensor6612 Are you going to build and sell motorization kits in the future ?
nice device. I would buy if I had a lapavoni
Release is this year !
Love the videos. What would really improve the machine for me is a built in on / off timer. Second thing that would be amazing is a sensor that feels how hot the piston is and then either triggers the boiler or turns it off (kind of like a PID). I love my LP Romantica and Coffee Sensor made this machine so much better.
Bong did invent an alarm for the off water inside the tank. We can create an awesome device for sure, built it low lever water and pid capabilities but isn't that over kill for this classic?
Looks good! I dump beans through the other side of the dish. Now…question: What’s the number on the top? | Is it out yet? I go to hot yoga and get soo teased thr😂
Release is this year. Top digits is the shot timer. It starts automatically when pressure exceed a certain level.
Do you not need to connect the PID to earth?
Only the alu box if you use that one, to the machine chassis. The PID controller itself no.
hi Tudor pls make a update about the profiler
I hope to release it this year !
Great to see this vid has been provided to assist us, the great unwashed, and was absolutely of assistance to me.. I'm going to note a couple of things in the process: If you don't want to disassemble the boiler, get the spanner.. Then, If you have a pressure profiler or airbuster installed, the spanner will be too long... I took mine to the bench vice, and "adjusted" it with a hammer. Now, you won't using the spanner in the conventional sense of spanners, you can only locate the nut and hold it, there will be no turning.... While I was at the vice I took the grinder to the shoulders on the spanner, so that I could better find the flats of the unseen nut.. And, yes, when removing the existing tap body, it will hit your pressure gauge, perched atop the sight glass.. I'm going suggest that, in the sense of working with bicycles: if you fiddle with it, there will be trouble... Leave the pressure gauge in place and remove the tap handle (that you will no longer use) in order to facilitate the removal of the tap body... At reassembly, and you will have already noted that the nut that holds the tap body on is oddly thin, with the nut held in the spanner, I had difficulty picking up the thread with the new tap body... It certainly wasn't an option with the two nylon washers at the tap body, depicted in the vid... The kit however came with four such nylon washers, so, before you place the nut (wafer thin..) into the spanner, slip in a nylon washer, to raise the nut up... Even then, in the end I just some how jagged it, and I was away.. Lastly; the kit doesn't come with a new copper washer, so it might be best to anneal the existing one, at your kitchen hob, before reassembly.... Hope this is useful..
Do you have any suggestions on how to straighten the hole that the steam tap screws into? It is bent inward and leaks. I can't seem to bend it without damaging the body.
ua-cam.com/video/2jLLhJ0x3n4/v-deo.htmlsi=kxDdHZnG324rzreT
mine was distorted as well. The body seems to be very thin so in my case I have just tightened the nut inside and it has levelled the bent body back to plain shape in that area
who can smell the difference?
During extraction or in the cup. Name one and the user will definitely sense it.
what is wiring AWG gauge used for connection 16 AWG or lower ? and the in line fuse wire connected to PID what is the fuse capacity?
You have to add shot timer to this system. I was in the market for your brew pressure gauge, but now I`ll be waiting for this one. Do you have an email list to sign up for future updates on this?
It does have a shot timer into the app.
Great instructional video 👍
Thanks 👍
This is great but if you can add screen to see it instead of phone’s screen
That's exactly what we did now, at V3 prototype. We added a small LCD to see the instant read of the pressure and temperature, so no need to always use the app and another device !
@@coffeesensor6612 great what about to create an auto flow control e61 instead of manual 😅
Looking forward for it, brass or ss The question is, how behaves thermaly after that
Good question. The thermal stability is increased but possible to have a slightly bigger temperature inside the group head. But recovery is better since metal incorporates heat.
@coffeesensor6612 I already purchased from you the SS and already I can't imagine my machine without that I found out that for the same temperature with the plastic sleeve, I must by -6°C I dropped from 83 to 77 group head temperature Boiler pressure 0.8 bar
Hi, This is a great tutorial but there's one but - I've tried to do the same with Esperto Abile and the group pressure gauge screws (there are two of them) are so tight that can't undo them - am too afraid to apply too much pressure as am not sure whether am supposed to take it apart at all? Also, would be good to mention there's a specific direction shower screen seal has to go inside the group i.e. square edge always to the bottom and rounded one always up.
I managed to get the group pressure gauge unscrewed but then my nightmare started. I got the group out and was trying to remove the plastic sleeve with the purchased tool. The tool is great but the plastic sleeve would not unscrew and chipped instead where the tool's two teeth were supposed to hold the tool. I injured my hand quite badly because of it. In the end I had to melt some of the sleeve's plastic and use hammer to destroy it and remove. I then was able to use the tool to screw back in a new brass sleeve. I greased everything with food grade silicone but it was very hard to insert the piston back into the sleeve and took many minutes of fiddling so be prepared. I had to push the piston's seals inside the groves and at some point it went all the way inside. I have scratched the group a bit on the edges because of my struggles but in the end got all done and it's now fully upgraded. I also got a thermometer but was surprised that two wires are exposed where they join bit that supposed to be sticked to the group so make sure they're not shored and had to isolate them as otherwise the temp would always show HHHHH and didn't work correctly.
Thanks for the updates and you posting your personal struggle with the sleeve. Many had to go on that road. Question is how come a plastic part, which some said to me has no problem staying there, melts and gets blocked inside the group head? I have the answer and hope all users will eventually replace their sleeve with the metal one as soon as possible. Good info about the sensor, we already know about this problem and the new batch will attack this situation head on. Wires will be better isolated. Cheers !
Just wanted to update those reading my above comment - after some time of using LP, and while doing new upgrades , I discovered that one of the seals was broken due to improper installation. I then also realised what a black plastic ring included in the package was for - silly me! It was the piston installation tool!! I replaced both black seals with orange silicone and installing the piston back with the tool was a piece of cake and no struggle at all! So, do buy that little tool as it'll minimise the risk of incorrect piston installation and damaging your new seals.
Hello . Does the led blink when the machine is off? Mine blinks every 3 seconds . Not sure if that’s normal
I never seen doing this to be honest.
Top view video not helpful
I kept watching the video before posting it and did not see that any info or help might not be visible or unhelpful. So maybe you could elaborate and tell me more about what problems did you encounter watching this video from the top ?
@@Ihorpona make commentary helpful then.
What food grade is required for the lubricant? Is it enough H1?
I do not know Molykote 111 in which category goes but that is the one i recommend and know for sure its food safe and used in coffee machines worldwide.
Is it possible to install this reversed for left-handed use? Is there a way to modify a steam wand to work in left-handed configuration?
I don't think so, since the steam pipe has the current position.
Thanks. Perfect explanations for each step.
I was thinking of buying your Sensor Flow Control Device, maybe I should wait until this is out on the market, how long will it take?
I hope to have it in a few months. I added the LCD also. First version was a simple sensor without it and i felt something is missing.
@@coffeesensor6612 Thanks for the reply, I'll wait and see how it will turn out, the price is also a question to take into account, I've seen something similar and it cost as much as a midrange espresso machine, it can't be justified.
@@dejedejsson and yet they do sell. The price range will be as other sensors on the market that offer just pressure reading, while mine will be temperature and pressure, app and also lcd instant read to be used without out app.
@@coffeesensor6612 Well, then I can say already now that it will be too expensive for me, I might settle for a thermometer and skip Flow control completely, thanks for the answers!
Very interesting as I own a used one since a few days (we chat the other day on your website !) I could see that the play I have with my lever is normal, and also the lever goes down by gravity on mine. I just have dings on the nuts and I will change them. I have to control play of the piston too ! 1000 thanks ! It's time for coffee !
Appreciate you took your time to watch this and also, that you appreciated my work. Take care and God bless.
