    I've been following dean on ig for about 6 years now and from an 17 year old to 23 year old I can definitely say that his personability with me as a follower has been so gracious in that one to one connection for an aspiring theatre/dancer artist myself from Trinidad.

    My neighbours just moved to South America when they 1st moved in they said they were musicians & they were amazing. We live 1up in a tenement the day I heard her kick drum from the shop downstairs I was SHOCKED 😖🤣🤣🌻💙💜💙

    Absolutely loved seeing your journey. It's fascinating to see how you were there by chance at the apex of two cultural movements of young, urban youth either side of the Atlantic. My favourite works by you are probably the Ordinary World and Come Undone covers because of the use of masking tape, the plastic punched lettering and how energetic they looked. Listening to the way you worked and how you were using different techniques is inspiring. It reminded me of my days at art college when I started to experiment and try new mediums and approaches. The freedom of creativity and how to just try different things is definitely there in your work. Another favourite video you did was for INXS, and wasn't really released because of Michael's passing, is "Searching", just because it was capturing the vibe of the music with the colours and visuals. Great documentary hopefully it will be seen by not just fans of the groups but budding artists and directors who will be influenced by you.

    Totally fantastic film about an unbelievably talented creative artist who helped shape how music is perceived and presented from the late 70s to this day. This film needs to be on BBC Four and all arts channels now!

    I think nothing exposes 'ones' vulnerability as much as being a portrait artist. You are courageous and I have nothing but respect for portrait artists. I am happy to be painting by myself.

    I surveyed the building in 1979 for Kensington & Chelsea who were taking responsibility for the building. At that time no tenants had a good word for where they lived and the problems with the refuse shoot, lift services & centralised hear & hot water system? I asked why there was a corrugated iron roof over the play area at the base of the Tower. The response shocked me. It was to stop residents above throwing bricks & objects onto the children below! I hope this has all changed with time?

It truly warms my heart to know that my 1998 New Hope church sangin', choir partner dun' up and made it big but still somehow managed to remain true to herself. Youuuuu go girl!!!! (Martin Lawrence voice.....) I've always believed that you were blessed with the voice of an absolute angel and with that into consideration, it's nostalgically surreal to view that very same ......well-spoken, meticulously crafted voice of yours take you to the stratosphere. Collect your flowers, baby girl. Mah Belle would be proud, haha, and if I leave you with anything at all, just know that your brotha Kent’ae is sitting here smiling from ear-2-ear.       Those are long exposure pictures of films. All the frames of the films are melted together in one image.

    Jason must not have searched very hard because Hiroshi Sugimoto did this in 1978. "In 1978, Sugimoto's Theatres series involved photographing old American movie palaces and drive-ins with a folding 4x5 camera and tripod, opening his camera shutter and exposing the film for the duration of the entire feature-length movie, the film projector providing the sole lighting." I realize the end results are very different, but he literally did the same exact thing.

      @@DOGMA85 He talks about Sugimoto in an interview with Dominc Jaeckle of Hotel magazine - the interview is on Jason's website - here's the relevant bit: People often compare my process to Hiroshi Sugimoto’s photographs - his cinema halls. Sugimoto would open his shutter for the duration of the film, and the result would bleach out the screen and illuminate the auditorium. He wasn’t trying to make the same point as me. But even if he had tried, he wouldn’t have been able to achieve the same ends back then. The reason is that light, when shone through a lens onto a screen produces a hot spot in the middle that then darkens and vignettes as it approaches the edge of the frame. The key difference nowadays is that I photograph the films on a practically pixel-free monitor so the edges are almost as illuminated as the central area. Now, this still results in a slight vignette - which exists because when the film was shot the same lens rule applied when the light entered the movie camera. If I had projected the films and photographed them it would have been impossible to capture all of the tonal disparities in a single exposure. If it weren’t for massive 5K monitors and their even splay of light these pictures simply wouldn’t be possible.
