JASON DERULO: BREAKING MY NECK LED TO MY BIGGEST SUCCESS
Jason Derulo is a force of nature: a global hitmaker who’s sold over 250 million singles and been writing songs since the age of 8. Beyond his chart-topping career, he’s also a savvy entrepreneur and an inspiring storyteller. I’ll admit, I was a little star-struck sitting down with him, but I was excited to uncover the more human side of the pop icon-and to learn what drives his relentless success.
Jason’s obsession with excellence extends far beyond music-it shapes everything he does, and this unyielding determination has been the cornerstone of his success. Life, however, hasn’t been without its challenges. While preparing for a tour, Jason broke his neck attempting a backflip, but what could have ended his career instead became the spark for his most successful album. We also explored the insecurities of his childhood and how now, as a father, Jason’s perspective has evolved with his son being his greatest source of motivation.
This conversation revealed a deeper side to Jason Derulo-one that shows his success is anything but effortless. It’s built on resilience and the ability to turn challenges into opportunities. With a new single featuring Sia on the horizon, Jason’s unstoppable drive proves there’s no "off button" for his ambition.

I love Yungblud hes way fkn younger than me but i totally get him
Jamie you’re very much a posh YT boy. You don’t know omarion?
Loved this interview Jamie. What a down to earth, genuine guy Jason Derulo is!
I'm not familiar to this channel and much appreciated the interest and awe of the interviewer. I'm not familiar with Alain as well, apart from that TED Talk that circles the algorithm. This form of conversation is very suiting for the themes he approaches and am happy to become an instant fan of both, actually.
Love this, i love to love this
it must of been hard when alix was dealing with a cheating boyfriend and feelings of betrayal knowing her mom went through the same thing from her DAD
Is it me or is this quiet?
"Watcha Say" What a tune that was 👏🏻✨️😊
Having seen him live in Birmingham England it was an amazing show/performance 👏🏻 and it was incredible to hear so many of his awesome songs old and new LIVE 🫡 "JASON DERULO ✨️
Best episode yet. Just love Shirley - she’s had a remarkable life!! X
Relatable
I love Paloma, straight to the point and the best laugh!!
Ellla May❤
Me and my family love rag n bone man great man
Thank you for this. Brilliant podcast. I can relate so much of what Sarah mentions. I've sent a link to this for my husband to listen
Let’s talk about how expensive it is to get protein in a diet though, I’m a solicitor earning 39k and I can only afford £80-100 a month on food and personal hygiene, with that buying protein and healthy foods is impossible. Imagine earning minimum wage? Having a family to provide for earning the same salary? Single parents? So out of touch. It’s hard out here and maybe if salaries and food matched up people wouldn’t be obese.
This is so eye opening thank you so much, so grateful for this knowledge , amazing interview
Kudos to Jamie. An incredible interviewer with so much sensitivity and patience in each interview he does.
She needs stop trying to play the victim it disgusting
😂😂
So .... for those that can't afford ZOE , eat more tinned beans and frozen peas or spinach and (at 55:45) you need 'educating more'. Thanks Tim. Also, the term 'Ultra' processed almost implies there is a massive scale of subtle terms for food types. But it was created by the Nova group in Brazil 15 years ago, with a scale of just 3 terms. Unprocessed, Processed, and Ultra-Processed. Hardly the most sophisticated system of measurement across such a diverse and varied area such as food intake - it's almost as though using the alarmist prefix of 'Ultra' has been used to sell more books and memberships. Even the guardian ran a piece not that long ago pulling in experts saying that the Zoe app is no better than generic advice. And obviously, Zoe is a wellbeing company and so is allowed to run without the regulation that applies to clinical and medical operations. Kerching!
How can I do that on £80 a month for all food and hygiene products? It’s so frustrating like yeah of course I would eat healthy but the long and short is even beans are 50p-£1 a can… doesn’t go that far. But cheap crappy frozen chips and beans? Yeah that goes further I guess. It’s a struggle. I skip breakfast and snacks and just have a small lunch and dinner. I want to eat more protein but it’s impossible. Oh and I’m a solicitor btw, so I have a ‘good’ job although they pay is shit up north
@@Honeycrumblesmum Totally this👆 Teachers are seeing food poverty in kids on an unprecedented scale and this guy is telling us to eat more chickpeas to feel better. For every polo-necked diet guru with a book to sell you can bet there is a section pushed on the Waitrose shelves guilt-tripping their shoppers for not eating within the kind of 'healthy' parameters that his unregulated company conveniently defines. On their website page "ZOE, How It Works" the first line is "We don't tell you what you can and can't eat" ... Hmmm really?🤔 He did another sales-pitch podcast with Doctor Rupi saying why you shouldn't eat breads or cereals for breakfast ... oh. And I love their note on their Daily 30+ produce that had to be recalled because "We have been made aware of the possible presence of small stones and small metal fragments in some batches of Daily30+ ". .... Yummy ...😋 I don't get how he is still getting free passes.
I'm middle-aged, but adore him!!!! He's a beacon of light ❤
Funny people have abusive non loving narcissist parents
Could listen to Louise all day
Ih he ain't sleeping I promise u there's a reason... Weather it's come or meth or Adderall it's something
His Welsh GPS monologue is so funny.
I have never related to a person so much in my life, how I am with anxiety in terms of health, babies, relationships, it’s exactly the same. I love listening to Jamie because I’ve always felt he’s a lovely person, so funny and far more complex than he lets on.
Love him whan he said DO THAT ONE MORE TIME
Fantastic just brilliant extraordinary experience watching this. What a great company this podcast is, thank you 🏡
What an amazing interview. I really enjoy your podcast and I think this one has been my favourite!
When you put 2 ADHD people in a room 😂 Love ‘em to bits. Yungblud is truly iconic. He’s hilarious! He’s got a really good heart. Stay true to you, Dominic!
Some of these comments are disturbing. She was young and she was taken advantage of. She lost her voice and so full of fear. Holly is a disgusting person. Have any of you listened to the nasty snarky things she’s said? Even about her sister. She said she wanted to one up her wedding? Who says that. Everything out of her mouth is as fake and phony as her laugh. I hope Crystal can find herself and find peace sharing her truth and her experiences.
The X factor story in this has made me cry with laughter Omg comedy gold!!😂😂
The lack of self awareness is incredible. Sport isn’t for you, get back to your Tory tax dodging friends.
Jamie you really aren’t that cleaver are you or are you playing it for the camera and Tim seems to not know what he’s talking about with a sprinkle of truth added.. the reason people living together share similar gut biomes is because they eat the same or very similar foods. I do wish these podcasts would fact check as most people aren’t to cleaver and believe everything they hear on the internet without doing their own research.
'Doing your own research'? Please explain what research you've done and what scientific journals have published your results.
Your spelling is a bit to be desired
As usual Prof Tim OBE full of insight, science based of course. He's amusing too. JL delighted to find these podcasts, very upbeat, thank you
FANTASTIC
Fantastic Lady! Loved this.
Wow, Jamie, this has been the most informative podcast I've ever heard. Can't wait to see how the government reacts to this, and will they act upon it.❤
Fantastic
14:23 SHE IS SO RIGHT THO!😢
I KNEW it. Knew my coffee addiction was actually doing me good. I'll have another colombian dark roast, ta ☕☕☕☕
😂 I know what you mean 🤣🤣 so funny
Oh my god close your eyes and he could be Jack whitehalls dad!!
I would love to do Zoe but sadly they don’t do it in Thailand 😢 Amazing pod cast
Fab pod btw. Great Start to new year Ps. Where did tim get his roll neck ?
Whilst I have no doubt that diet plays a huge part in our wellbeing and mood etc and the micro biome ...I do not think that diet alone is a factor for MH,for some it maybe as they eat so badly ,processed foods, hardly any fresh fruit and veg, high fat and sugar etc but thete are also other factors such as exercise, relationships definitely bei g a big one and quality of relationships and connection, doing things you love and enjoy abd finding meaning and purpose and of course havi g the energy for exercise includes a good diet. But in the case of depression many other factors such as childhood trauma or just a difficult childhood, traumatic events later in life, bad relationships, bad job situations etc etc....thete are so many factors that can contribute to depression,a negative self image being one of them. Yes diet is definitely a basis for health but don't forget all the other things we need for a healthy life and relationships is probably a huge factor in a happy life. Like Tim but I don't like this reductionist approach to health whete diet now is everything and ignores out relationships, time in nature, havi g interests and hobbies, having a positive view of ourselves I.e not being weighed down with shame or negative self beliefs....we need to look at the whole picture.
i think it's a useful thing to start with-if you eat different food and start to think about your diet
The way jamie explained boarding school and wanting to strike up friendships reminds me of that actress fat amy that lost all the weight? She also described her childhood in this way. So while it might not be very common its not totally unusual
Happy new year! Another good podcast! I’ve followed Zoe and listened to a big chunk of Tim’s podcasts. Fascinating topic and really pleased to have been involved in the research in some small way.
PJ I just bought a red jumper because yours looks so good!!
So so love this. Thank you, keep on please
