I can’t get the menu open alive one I’m on a laptop so I changed keybind and it doesn’t open it just makes a odd noise ??
I NEED this explaination but the video is unwatchable. There's so many complex things you just skip over and just brush aside like: "Don't worry about that, don't worry about that either" etc yet you take from 1:27 to 2:23 to explain how to use a fucking wiki page. OFCOURSE your video is gonna be 39 minutes long if you say things like: "this is the alive wiki page for supported factions, in it you can find al the factions that are supported by the alive mod, you can find this page by typing alive supported factions in the url". And by the gods learn how to use windows movie maker or something and cut out everything that's not useful information. Your video is absolutely riddled with: "*cough cough*!!, excuse me, uhh... uhh... is that what.... wait... uh... sorry.. it's a woodland terrain so uhh i'm going to pick the usfhxk uh usfor usa armed forces, yea..is that what they're called.. so...uh...". All the coughing and stuttering and weezing and mumbling about stuff that's of no use to us is literally 90% of this video. I think if you learned how to make and edit video's efficiently this one could be cut down to a short and powerful 5 minutes.

Ive just got back into all forms of military/aviation/naval simming after about 7 years away - this is without a doubt one of the best and most straightforward explanations of ALIVE i have come across - and believe me as I'm now a retiree I need every help i can get at my age lol - thanks a million!
Does the asymmetric faction have to be independent or can it be Opfor?
It can be any faction that is compatible. So if you want US Army to be asymmetric, they can be.
@MannimalGG Its great you did these vids to inform people on using alive, good job. One thing to point out though, for everyone. In the 'virtual ai system' module , the spawn radius, be it infantry, heli or plane relates *specifically and only to the player* and has nothing to do with the ai themselves (for the virtual ai system module, its not relevant as to whether the ai faction has helicopters, etc at all, that's only in the placement modules and how you filter them etc) . i.e. when you're infantry/on the ground, what spawning range do you want the ai to spawn at (1000, 1500, etc)? When a player is flying a heli or plane, again, what spawning range do you want ? Simple way to test this is to set heli spawn range at 0/zero, fly around and not a single ai will spawn in. Change it to 1000,1500 (higher is better, because of the speed of aircraft) and get in a heli, fly around and they will start spawining in at the range you've set. The same applies to the civ module. So within the civ population module you set 'spawn heli radius' at 900. So that means, when will civilians start spawning in when a ***player*** is flying a helicopter. at 900 in this case. Its really important to be mindful of this, for performance sake. For e.g. if you set the infantry spawn radius at 1000 and spawn heli radius at lets say 1500. If you have a player air unit, imagine they are flying around , spawning in ai units as they do so and in a different part of the map from the ground forces. The ground forces units also are spawning in units - so potentially you could have 50-75 ai spawning around the infantry AND similar numbers spawning around a player flying a helicopter (+ civs if you've set them to spawn in from a heli as well). Just wanted to clarify and point this out, so people are aware of that.

I know this is a bit late but i have a few questions. 1. Will the invading forces attack objectives by themselves? or do i have to give them waypoints via Zeus? (soz im a bit dumb and am new to ALiVE) 2. If im playing this in Singleplayer. What is the average waiting time for the "enemy" to attack an objective? 3. How long can these "battles" last? I love having massive, but tactical, battles in ArmA :D 4. If i set up what you set up exactly BUT i put down my own squad of AI to hunt down the "enemy" Commander. Will this break the game? If i kill the commander that is.
ThatGuyRyan the invasion force will attack the occupation force in a aggressive style while the occupation force will attack in a more defensive style
@@TheNorthernBrit Iv done everything you said in the video. Problem. The attackers dont attack :/ They do circle patrols instead :( Any fix? I have properly set Occupation and Invading for both sides btw

Hey guys! What would you like to see next related to ALiVE?
Well there are several videos on the orbat creator and how to make a faction, but as you are focused on missions, perhaps you could make a video that shows how to use the orbat creator to customize a faction to the mission using the description.ext (and if you could show how to get the crates working, that would be great).
well one thing I know, is that there are plenty of mods out there (e.g. Spyder Addons) that don't have much info on them and their implementation. It would be nice to watch the use of mods and their extra features that make ALiVE "even more". THANKS PLENTY!

How to prove FPS in missions with Alive ?
@@БольшаяКрысечка I have been trying to do the same thing. There is a UA-cam video made by a girl who made my FPS boost very simply. Go to audio, and turn down number of sounds to 48... Also turn down objects to low on your settings. I can play alive with no problems now 😃
right click on the helicopter....then log class to clipboard... and then ctrl v into wherever..... no need to remember the classnames!
Sure. I see this AFTER I manually type all the RHS GREF vehicle classnames into a mission file!

Great content mate, we are about to start using the Alive Mod, as the Liberate mission seems very bugged after the last ArmA 3 update. This was an amazing tutorial man! you earned a sub, the only thing is I did this exact setup and no matter what i turn my graphics down to I get 14-20 fps. Not sure what happened. Ive tried even turning spawn distance down but to no avail
had the same issue cpu upgrade solved it.
Run msconfig in windows. I've got a 3900x and it ran shorty until I activated all cores in windows so maybe that's your problem.

Thanks for making this vid. Out of all the ALIVE tutorials I found this one the most helpful. I tried following your instructions but Arma 3 will crash very soon after getting into the map (if it doesn't crash on map load up). I hope I can figure out why I'm crashing so I can load up and play ALIVE the way it was intended.

Also: seeing you struggle trying to get the classnames right inspired me to fiddle with the editor and found out if you right click a unit -> log -> log classes you automatically copy the classname so you can ctrl-v paste it wherever you need. Pretty handy, ArmA has come a long ass way.

An easier way, rather then messing with names, is to place a maned heli, plane etc and sync that to the combat support module ( can do as many vics as you want ). Does same thing. Make sure it's a maned support vic. If you place a vic and hold left alt it changes yellow, which is an unmaned vic.
