      Spout and Spout 2 seem to be a set of Windows exclusive APIs which might not be implemented with Wine or Proton. Also I was not able to find a Linux compatible Sprout 2 Plugin for OBS Studio in order to verify this. While there is support on Linux to share frames of video applications on the GPU on Linux (Specifically with Wayland and Vulkan) it might be possible for someone to implements support for Wine with spout but I was not able to find something which is available as of now.

      @@user-qu3uv9wh4d All good. In that case I might repeat a few things about Warudo here in text form as well. As it is easier to get this into a translator :D If you plan on using your Webcam for face tracking in Warudo you need to apply a few workaround as Wine and Proton have incomplete Webcam support. If you plan on using your Phone then you can simply skip this comment entirely. First download "Facetracker" from flathub as it will act as the actual face tracking application and then transmit the tracking data to VSeeFace. Which then converts the tracking data to the VMC format which then can be used by Warudo. Therefore install VSeeFace as well. It should work right away using Wine and tell VSeeFace to use "OpenSeeFace Tracking" as this will make it capturing the tracking data from the running Facetracker app. Then inside VSeeFace go to Settings -> General Settings and enable "Send data using OSC/VMC protocol" In Warudo add a VMC reciever and configure the avatar to react on pose and face tracking data from the added VMC receiver. I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or need some more detailed guidance feel free to ask.

If I want to remove 10 minutes from a 60 minute video at 1080p resolution AviDemux will produce the resulting 50 minute video literally in 30 seconds or less. You don't need to recompress. As I am currently working on a video around video editors on Linux I happen to have a test project with resolve. While rendering a 2.5K video it requires around 2.5 GB VRAM for me. Could you provide a little more information about the resolution and video codec you're trying to render with resolve? How much VRAM does your GPU actually has and how much Resolve tries to claim? @@pantarei. Hm, things are getting a little weird now. I just have installed Resolve on my Laptop too which has an GT 730M with only 2GB of VRAM. Resolve did launched just fine, selected the nVidia GPU as it's hardware accelerator and I could open a new project. How did you installed the nVidia driver? Or better I may ask: How do you run the nvidia driver. Because there are multiple ways to run a nvidia Laptop GPU on Linux. 1) Hybrid aka Offload or PRIME Offloading: Means you system runs on the integrated GPU except for selected applications. Try the following when launching resolve from within the distrobox container: __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia /opt/resolve/bin/resolve As this is the default mode of the 500 driver series which I suppose is installed on your system. Additionally there are ways with additional driver software to run your entire system on the nVidia GPU called. Optimus-Manager or prime-select. This is a command line utility to switch the GPU driver in use and in fact it can run the system in 3 different ways. 1) hybrid, see above. sudo prime-select offload Logout and Log in again 2) nvidia only: sudo prime-select nvidia Logout and Log in again 3) Integrated only: sudo prime-select intel or sudo prime-select amd Logout and Log in again Remember when ever you changed the driver using prime-select you need to logout and in again. Due to the age of my GPU and that it is limited to the 400 driver series I run my Laptop currently in Mode 2. NVidia only. So my advice it to try number 1 first. If it helps, all good. If not, look up how to setup "prime-select" on Linux Mint and continue with number 2. Note: You have to setup your Rocky Linux Distrobox container using --nvidia as explained in the video. Which I suppose you did otherwise Resolve would have complained about no compatible GPU found.

    • @RoboNTuxGuides
      @RoboNTuxGuides Місяць тому

      Just to make things sure did you do the following: sudo transactional-update pkg in nvidia-driver-packages-go-here sudo transactional-update -c initrd sudo transactional-update -c shell cp /boot/initrd-KERNEL_VERSION-default /boot/efi/opensuse-aeon/KERNEL_VERSION-default/ vim /boot/efi/loader/entries/opensuse-aeon-KERNEL_VERSION-default-SNAPSHOT_NUMBER.conf Press I on keyboard to enter INSERT mode in vim Fix initrd line to point to /opensuse-aeon/KERNEL_VERSION-default/initrd-KERNEL_VERSION-default Save the file (Esc :x) exit (to exit transactional-shell) Then do the boot entry fix once again for the latest snapshot generated upon exiting the shell. I suspect you missed to put -c after the transactional-update command to tell it to actually use the latest unbooted snapshot rather then the currently running as the base of the new snapshot. This is essential. My terminal is fine, all default Gnome Terminal. I suspect what confused you might be the auto complete if hitting TAB twice after a command. cd /boot/ TAB TAB will show all available directory under /boot for example. Same for cp. vim /boot/efi/loader/entries/ TAB TAB will show all available files vim could open. As vim can also "open" directories it also shows directories using TAB TAB.

      Probably an issue with distrobox itself. Maybe it is worth forwarding this issue to the developers of distrobox.

    Thank you for this! I recently started using Tumbleweed and I absolutely love it. My partner is not a computer nerd, but is not a big fan of windows or mac. They really like the GNOME DE and want me to install openSUSE on their new laptop (they actually approached me with this, not the other way around). I really think Immutable distros + flatpack is the best next step in making linux accessible to non-nerds, and will absolutely be coming back to this video when I set them up with OpenSUSE aeon <3

    Hey thanks so much for this. After a bit of work I managed to get Davinci installed (had a bunch of trouble getting X11 working... I think this solved it: "sudo dnf groupinstall "base-x" However, I still can't launch Resolve properly. It says "Unsupported GPU PRocessing Mode", and opens a configuration window, where I can't see my Radeon 6700 XT listed at all.

      As far as I know Davinci Resolve has only support for proprietary drivers. At least I was not yet able to get it working with my AMD GPUs.

    Hello! I'm on Aeon too (very new to it), I wonder if is normal that even if resolve was correctly installed on a rocky distrobox in the /opt folder, as usual , and I could access in terminal after launching distrobox , the /opt folder stays empty in the actual host , therefore the menu to launch resolve from the host wouldn't work .. I had to move /opt/resolve somewhere else in the home , and then create a symlink to it in /opt .. Is this a bug in my install or is normal, like that since is an immutable distro /opt folder should stay empty ?

    • @RoboNTuxGuides
      @RoboNTuxGuides 4 місяці тому

      If I understood the issue correctly it is normal. The Distrobox container has it's own /opt while you host also has it's own /opt. You need to think about a distrobox container as a separate system you log into. Which just happens to run on the same hardware as your host and they share Memory, CPU and GPU as well as the user directory. Everything else is separate. Usually your desktop launcher should open up the rocky container and then run resolve inside the container and not try to run it on the host. Edit: Minor correction. Yes you are right, the launcher distrobox creates is not entirely correct as I just found out. What you can do is change the Path from /opt/resolve/ to /home/ and the launcher should start working as expected. You can use PinApp from flathub to do this.

      @@RoboNTuxGuides thank You! I'll try that asap! I also found another annoyance in my testing : once a new project is open (so i'm in the "real editor", if I start dragging around the resolve window , and then i release the left mouse button , when I go back to the resolve window, is not draggable anymore, double-click won't maximize it or anything. Only solution is to exit resolve, and restart it, taking care of always leaving it in full screen mode. This doesent' happen in the initial "start new project" screen...i wonder if it is because of some old gnome libraries on rocky, or because i'm using wayland on a 4k monitor at 200% scale ... for example, on rocky my mouse cursor doesn't scale (it stays very little in resolve) untill I install awaita-icons or something like that.. do You have any issue like that? sorry to bother You, but there is not real documentation about this stuff, and after all I guess this is could be content for your channel...

    • @RoboNTuxGuides
      @RoboNTuxGuides 4 місяці тому

      I have a similar issue on a 1440p screen without scaling. For me it looks like a oddity Resolve does as I can not drag it at all. Except for holding down the meta key. You can hold down the Meta Key (Windows Key) and then click anywhere on the resolve window to move it around. If you move it to the top of you screen you can then maximize it again.

    I'm trying to install it on Artix Linux (like Arch but uses OpenRC instead of SystemD) but when I try to run the Resolve installer I get the following: Authorization required, but no authorization protocol specified qt.qpa.xcb: could not connect to display :0 qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "" even though it was found. This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. Available platform plugins are: linuxfb, minimal, offscreen, xcb. Any ideas? Might it be related to the fact that I'm not using SystemD? I'm new to Distrobox and don't know how isolated it is from the rest of my system.

      Hi there thank you for reaching out :) It seems there are some libraries missing inside the distrobox container. In the video description I listed a few commands to be run inside the Rocky Linux container to add those. Alternatively you can make use of the distrobox.ini file from my github repository (link in the description as well) to automate this process. With those everything should be working as expected.

    how to uninstall a program installed through distrobox?

    • @RoboNTuxGuides
      @RoboNTuxGuides 4 місяці тому

      Enter the distrobox container and uninstall the application in question as you would normally do. DaVinci Resolve has an unistaller located at /opt/resolve/ Afterwards you my also want to remove the exported desktop files from your distrobox using: distrobox-export -d -a resolve

    Actually, dxr should be enabled per default on the latest mesa version but I am not sure if this is the same with the radv_perftest

    • @RoboNTuxGuides
      @RoboNTuxGuides 6 місяців тому

      dxr stands for DirectX Raytracing which is part of VKD3D not Mesa. But generally speaking you are right, on the latest versions of Mesa everything is setup to allow for raytracing in Vulkan based application like Metro Exodus (Linux native version) or Doom Eternal but not for games running via VKD3D. That is to be enabled manually. At 2:31 I go about which version of Mesa do have RT enabled and which don't. While at 4:47 I go about enabling DirectX Raytracing for VKD3D.
