I joined the reserve in Ireland 🇮🇪 when I was turning ¹⁵ I lied and got in I became an nco at 16 and stayed while the troubles in the north, thankfully it's a lot safer now, I spent 10 years on reserve and also permanent full time I was infantry and and 3rd far I've been in the Congo for 2 months on peace keeping and I'll never forget what we seen, my full respect every man who became a soldier, I was born in London 1970 I'm well retired but if given the chance I'd go back for more
Why wasn't forti in this one
I don't understand why the producers of this programme were still bothering with the two lizards who binned training
My first tour was physically exhausting but exciting. My second tour was Iraq and I had a new born son and wife. Literally ten minutes after arriving in theatre incoming, guns blazing. That was the pattern ten times a day for months. I never really came home (mentally) my marriage broke down, drank more and more in the Mess. Threw myself into work. Couldn’t stand being around my wife and son, not because I didn’t love them, but because I couldn’t really that feel love. I became numb. Would I swop my life? No…… The misery, fear, grief and exposure to extremes of life shape you as a person. What I lost I also gained. Memories of the lads, that bond. I’m recovering my ability to feel more emotional again. Eventually discharged after 21 years with CPTSD Lost a few friends to war, many more with missing limbs and suicide Watching this made me so proud of the young men that volunteer for this life changing experience. I served with 4 rifles as Patrick Sanders battle group engineer recce/advisor. They lost 9 men, many more injured.
40 minutes of recap.. Guess they ran out of footage lol
I joined at 16 messed me rite up
episode 4?
its on Tubi but you need a VPN to go on Tubi cos its only in America that Tubi works, I have a VPN and I changed the country to USA an ive found the series, hope that helps lol
Seeing Chuckles embrace his wife and kids gets ya in the feels!
What a super Mum, "what do you think of that?" "I've looked it up" Bloody Awesome lass, absolutely everything behind her lad!
Pleaae upload episode 4
People being cruel to Ashley's dad need to take a step back and realise that its no small thing to be okay with the prospect of your child being blown up in a war you may not even believe in... his emotions are human .
Go in a boy, leave as a true man!
The people that send our boys into these situations, don't give a flying f*ck what happens to em'! Pawns on a board
I can't find part to this series nowhere
Ashley's dad is a pus
Pointless waste of lives and resources. You'd have to be mad to let your children join up in this day & age.
Mate, pacifist armchair politicians like you just ain’t going to get it. We don’t and didn’t give a fuck when we joined up. Literally no cunt joins up for the politics, or for the “Queen and country” bollocks. We joined for the job, and to actually have a scrap and slot an enemy. Actual war fighting, that is/was what it was all about. Pure gratification. What have the geezers and girls got today once they join? Fucking humanitarian bullshit in Africa. Show of force in Estonia, and Cyprus. Blow me. Fuck that shit. You just don’t get it. None of us (who have any form of common sense) give a fuck. Sadly, and unsurprisingly, people die in war zones. We all lose mates. But, guess what…*shock horror*, we all knew what we were doing when we joined. We could have left at any point, but we went, under our own free will. Isn’t hard to comprehend.
All that effort and for the Taliban to be allowed to sweep in an reclaim Afghanistan in 2021……sad.

On the anniversary of Princess Diana being murdered.
What a waste of young men and women and all the resources when in the end it all fell apart and the Taliban took it all back.

And China and Russia and Israel and Saudi Arabia and India.
It was handed back.
What happened to Andrew as there was no mention of him in the final episode.
He got a dishonourable discharge for taking illegal steroids in the Army and failed a CDT.
What happened to episode 4? Haven't been able to find it.

Everyone of these young men are hero's, we, thoughout the centuries, have owed young men like these, who are willling to give their lives for the service of this country total admiration and respect, which is why 11 Nov each year, is so poignant, we must never forget these hero's.

Forti, the lad with the wee boy, wasn't in this episode - can anyone tell me what happened to him? Respect to all the soldiers!
I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully he wasnt amongst those that where Kia
I can add to this, for Ive mist him in this one aswell.. I guess he did'nt want involement or so, for I missed any respects in the end titles?
I can't find episode 4 anywhere?

Thanks so much for this, was disappointed that the previous uploader didn't do this one.
Where can I find episode 4. The time in Afghanistan.
Tubi
Anyone have a link for episode 4 ?, I cannot find it anywhere !. T.I.A
Tubi
It is so sad my country doesn't treat our heros like this
Shame to see these loyal lads leave. Perhaps they subconsciously understand that these wars serve neither their interests, or their Nation.
I did 25 years in the Canadian army (infantry my whole career) my last tour was 2007 in Kandahar, and what I remember was getting off the bus, greeting my wife and daughter so gratefully, yet the next day missing my buddies.
Swift and Bold brother Rifleman.
Good lads, all of them. Hope they're all doing well for themselves wherever they are in life. They deserve it.
did you find episode 4?
@@michaelbrian5260 I searched today, but still can't find it.
This followed Andrew Forti as well, but I don't see anything about him in episode 5! Also where is episode 4?

457 British military personnel lost their lives in Afghanistan between 2001 and 2020. When the coalition forces withdrew in 2021, the Taliban took control of the country again soon afterwards. It does seem like those brave men and women died in vain, not to mention the hundreds left with life-changing injuries and mental health problems.

Put that into context it’s around 150 men short of a battalion 😮
Well done lads xx 😘
Your mum sounds fkn amazing mate, I just watched this again after years since I first saw it and she made me laugh like a fkn idiot! Cheers!
I liked this series a lot. It should serve to remind those thinking of joining just what could potentially be required of them. It should never be lusted after, only undertaken nobly, professionally and by professionals! Seriously, not by gung ho wee kids cos it's not a ps fkn whatever fkn game.
Anyone know where I can find episode 4 please? I've looked all over and can't find it anywhere
Me neither! It's so annoying! I didn't know about this when it came out years ago, and it's totally compelling to watch!
There’s a link on Reddit
50.39 That moment when your feet touch home soil. Brilliantly captured for a split second.
Plz do u have episode 4
When I did my basic with the Scots Guards in 86 only 25 per cent passed out the rest got binned injured or just jacked because of the bullshit . Today looking back I think at least half of them would have passed if only they had the right mental attitude . A lot of it was down to discipline and if you can't hack it in the barrack blockyou won't hack it on the battlefield, sad but true and that was the defining factor . I hated every second of it but the thing what kept me going was don't let the bastards drag you down.
What got you through being piss-wet through on exercise or training? I know my experience was only in the TA (4WFR) Infantry (88-92), but what got me through was the thought of being able to get out of the wet kit and into nice clean, dry kit. I did 4 years and would have loved to have joined the regulars but I failed on medical grounds, which really pissed me off as I aced the other tests. While I was in, I did 2 courses, GPMG(SF) and Assault Pioneer (loved both), I was fit lower body, but my upper needed some work and I was a great shot with the SLR.
@@PeterMaddison2483 it was a lot harder once I joined battalion, 2 tours of Northern Ireland in all weather's mainly on the border and Germany which was horrendous on the training areas in winter.
Really enjoyed that
Darrens mum, what a diamond she is, so unselfish and her speech on the phone to him as awesome, love that lady. Ashleys dad, for me he should be ashamed of himself, so selfish, how weak he is and so uninspiring, I feel sorry for Ashley. I would of told my dad to close his mouth and suggest he grew a pair.
He didn’t want his boy dead. Makes sense, not weak, not selfish, just not brave. The life isn’t cut out for all people.
His dad had the brains to realise he was wasting his life & limb for a government that didn't care.
@SnakePliskin762 the government/country do care though. Hence why we have memorial days, massive grants for resettlement, military discounts, invictus games etc
@@Jackjack530 charities you mean. The government don't and never will. Sent to pointless wars for corrupt reasons such as leaving Afghan in the early 2000s to start in Iraq when the job wasn't finished. If you believe they do care, you need to open your eyes more.
Where is Forti? How absolutely disrespectful that they have disregarded him in this episode, seeing as only him and Darren actually served a tour. The other two should be proud of themselves too but to disregard forti in this episode is out of order
I heard that he was dishonorably discharged from the army for using drugs, absolutely disgusting if you think about it, the reason he joined was to support his 3 year old son, and he went and messed it up by no fault of anyone else, he made an awful decision, his fault, he doesn’t deserve the recognition
@@zimbabweyouthoutdoors4613 yes he made a bad decision but he served in Afghanistan and witnessed a lot of things, who knows how they coped or the emotional turmoil going on in their head whilst serving out there.
@@staceydunne4317each to their own but I served 3 tours in the province, Bosnia bla bla bla but never felt the need to take drugs .. it’s a life choice I guess
@@zimbabweyouthoutdoors4613 any source on this?
Lol, the irony of using a DropKick Murphys song on a British army propaganda film.
They're only plastic paddies! Just like all Boston yanks!
Every one of them a hero!
Converting lads into men....
@ Judo Lenny Ireland, I see that the video was posted in 2012, 8 years ago. You say that you are still serving (yeah, as a TA vagmeaster), but seriously, joking aside. Which regiments are Ashley and Lee serving in? I mean they did declare that they were going to join back up again. Perhaps with your connections you can check and let us know. Or anyone else for that matter, perhaps Tim Collins knows?
