Restoring a German Wire Cutters from WW1
In this video, I restore the German wire cutters from WW1.The tool will be found at the battlefields of the WW1. These historical tools were used by soldiers during World War I and have seen better days.
My job on tool restoration was to clean the item, to partial compensation for losses, to welding of a lost tooth and to do cold bluing.
I hope you enjoyed my restoration of the these wire cutters.
Thanks for watching, and don't forget to subscribe to my channel for more restoration videos.

I Restored a Rare WW1 Bayonet

Hi all. Sorry that there hasn't been a new video for a long time, there was a lot of work. Today I present to you the restoration of a Rare WW1 Bayonet that was found on German battlefields in the First World War. I have identified this bayonet as a Chinese bayonet for the Mauser M1906 rifle. Maybe I'm wrong. Tell me if I'm wrong. I did the following work: cleaning, cutting off the rotten part ...

This time I got an antique German penknife (pocket knife). It was found in a German trench on the battlefields of the First World War. Most likely, a German soldier lost it during a battle or while having dinner, or the knife simply fell out of his pocket. The knife was most likely stepped on, which is why it is bent. I've never done this kind of work, look how it turned out. In my opinion, the...

    What does make this bayonet the "rarest" of WW1 german bayonets ? If it was the saw version with a unique grip typical of the early made bayonets, you could say it's indeed a rare version, but this one has no saw teeth and two grips, it's one of the most easy to find WW1 german bayonets as they were withdrawn in 1915. I have one perfectly dated 1903 with its leather scabbard in a neaarly perfect condition, and I'm far from being the only collector to have one...

    • @Restoration.LetsGetStarted
      @Restoration.LetsGetStarted 23 дні тому

      Thanks for your opinion. The concept of rarity is relative. I came across such a bayonet once (early, without a thermal plate), usually M1898/1905 butchers with and without a saw, M1871 and various ersatz bayonets are supplied. In addition, the word “rare” in the title of the video attracts viewers.

    Not 1906, but 1907. Some Chinese Mauser 1907 were never delivered because of war and rebarreled in the standard german 8,57 JS caliber, and put in service with their bayonets. A truly rare item for sure, and you did a splendid job, congratulations !

      Thank you very much for the clarification and high appreciation of my work! When identifying this bayonet, I used the reference book Kulinsky A.N. Bayonets of the world, volume 2. The year 1906 is indicated there, perhaps there is a mistake.

      @laurentdevaux5617 23 дні тому

      @@Restoration.LetsGetStarted I don't this book, but indeed this bayonet isn't that rare as all german infantry soldiers were equipped with at the beginning of the war and they were quickly withdrawn because too fragiles, as I told before. Of course since these bayonets are now more than 100 years old, they become rarer, but really find one here in Europe isn't that hard. Except if you're looking for the saw version and even more for the very first version with a grip made with an unique piece of wood. These were quickly abandonned as too expensive to repair and are really very, very hard to find now. Even more in their saw version of course...

      Thank you. I either buy historical artifacts at auctions or are given by friends for restoration.

      Thank you very much. I try to get artifacts in such a condition that not everyone wants to deal with them.
