Well, it's been some time since my last video, I have loads of excuses why but won't waste your time with them.
I recently purchased an Insta 360 and, along with it, some accessories for various activities and variety. These include the 1.2m and the 3m selfie sticks and a small half metre handlebar mount - all of which are 'invisible' to the camera recording, so it looks like a drone or someone else is recording you. I start out with shots from the handlbar mount, then move on to the 3m selfie stick, which is connected to a special mount on the back of my bike, then end by free-holding the 1.2m selfie stick and moving that todifferent locations around myself and the bike. I love the close-up shots of the rear cogs as I'm riding - excellent.
I included a pair of lens covers, the official Insta 360 ones, and have them fitted as per instructions. The only thing I've noticed is the appearance of some small black lines appearing in the middle of the screen - you'll notice these in the video. Not sure what this is and suspect it may be due to the lens covers, not sure yet and I'll keep you posted on that.
Anyways, these videos, taken on a ride along with my Nephew, Brian, were just playtime, so nothing specific going on except a ride around some of the streets of Basildon and Gloucester Park - a beautiful big park smack bang in the middle of suburbian Basildon, it's a lovely place to go.
During this video I've used effects available in the free Insta360 Studio software to align the video recording, i.e. make sure the video you are watching is the part of the video I want you to see.
As this is a 360 degree recording I am able to use the software to change the direction of view within the software - up, down, side to side, backwards, forwards etc. The only thing I noticed about recording is that the camera stays recording in the initial direction and does not deviate. For example, If I start the recording while facing north, the default recording view is north. While I'm riding, if I turn 90 degrees to the right and head east, the camera continues to record north, so I have to use the software to keep it pointing where I want it - and I'm still in the learning phase of this.
Overall the camera is awesome. Good video quality, apart from the small black areas that appear, and the Insta 360 Studio software is pretty easy and intuitive to use, so gettings these ready really wasn't that much effort.
I then saved those and took hose videos into my normal video editing software to complete the entire thing, including the intro and end plates and the music overlay (didn't want you listening to just air going past the mics :)).
The one thing I learned from this is I had no idea that, while rising a bike, I held my mouth in the 'fly-cather' position - I must work on that :).
