The real difference between df1b and ws1,2b lies in the fact that ws1,2b is +1 on block instead of +3. This means the mix-up can be interrupted by any 14-frame move, no longer by a 12-frame move. There are many strong 14-frame mid moves with the range to catch the sway, which force Paul to cancel-block and reset the neutral if ws1,2 is blocked. Essentially, if the opponent knows what they're doing, ws1,2b leaves Paul with MUCH less room to work compared to df1b.

I love how the ending showed the difference between Jin and Kazuya. Kazuya always fought for entirely selfish reasons, whereas Jin's approach was flawed in 5 but everything he did was for the survival of himself and for everyone around him. Ultimately, Kazuya was stronger on his own but Jin won in the end because of the selfless choices he made, because he HAD to win.
