This game was released as a playable demo on a magazine free CD (forget which magazine). I played it once and was hooked - have played all the X games now, thousands of hours!

when i got my first pC it came with a copy of everquest, which i eagerly signed up for. I was too stupid to understand it needed a subscription fee (first time ever running into that.) It took over 2 days to fully patch it; and while it was patching I would play this. When it finally finished patching and i could enter the game, the game UI was NOTHING LIKE THIS and it took me 15 minutes to figure out how to log out LOL. It lives in my head rent free even after all these years; and ive since gone back to try Everquest multiple times, and ever gotten out of the Gloomingdeep Mines. But THIS....this lives on in my head eternally for some reason.

Played back in 2003, lasted about 5 years before I moved on. Was always a miner. One of the first players to get a hauler, later one of the first players to get a mining barge. I did all the slow boring stuff no one else wanted to do but was vital for bringing in the isk. Then one day people didn't need mining any more you could make money faster in other ways. Still, good while it lasted. I was in my twenties. No wife, no kids, full time job but worked so close to home I could run home on my lunch break and sell what I had mined while at work. Then would arrange mining events in the evenings where new players would join me and I could protect them with my drones. In return the corp would provide them frigates and weapons. I would play until 3am. Family man now with wife and kids so just don't have time for that any more... So now spend any free time I have playing no man's sky on switch 😄

I remember that in the original tutorial you had to defeat a black wolf on a hill and not the skeleton depicted in the video. I used to play it on patch days until it got discontinued.

I played EQ from beta to 2002, had over 400 DAYS of play time (about 10,000 hours), and had no idea this tutorial ever existed.

I loved the original interface.

I played in like 2001-2002 for the first time. I dont remember the tutorial. I remember jumping straight in to Greater Faydark. I must have been to lazy back then to even do the tutorial lol.

I actually had my warrior dropped off in Ocean of Tears..characters still had stamina then..not endurance as is now the case on live...that was an interesting swim lol

21:33 that docking music is soooo good! I spent many hours on this game. It takes about 10 hours just to get started, but it's such a majestic game. Amazing music. Just flying around unknown space, learning what's going on, and talking to random ships and docking at flower farms.

Excellent video thank you, when you were a Dark Elf Necromancer and you landed in the guild area trying to find your way to the Nek Forrest and then back again when you needed spells or training was hell! But eventually you worked it out like everything in the original game it was so much fun that endless frustration and in game death could not stop you getting there. Good times all consuming and it still can be.

I could never beat this because my game was always bugged.. I would get to the point where I had to communicate with Ban Danna and when I would reach his ship, they'd say he wasn't aboard and the story would just stall there. I could never get it to advance to the end.

In some places I like the new graphics better like Halas, but in most I prefer the old ones. The old textures had some nice pre-shading giving everything a bit more character and some of the colors were matched better with the rest of the environment, the new textures created some ugly contrasts. In general though, the new ones felt a bit soulless and sterile.

is there anyway to blow up the asteroid besides a hornet missile? I am soooooo jaded flying around, and the trip to get a hornet feels like a trip too far.

This game is very bad explained inside game it’s a down side in the new Vegas it’s just odd and not clear for new players

The older textures were better for places that were supposed to look rugged or whimsical (Kelethin, Freeport, most outdoor areas). I also preferred most of the old character models. The newer textures were better for places that should look more organized (Qeynos, Neriak), although in some cases they changed the overall design to something a bit worse. Like in that shot of Qeynos with the clock tower, look at how the ivy and flowers with the old textures are on the bottom of the wall and form a nice pattern, whereas with the new textures it just seems randomly spread out. The newer textures were easier on the eyes for many of the stone walls though, that's probably the worst aspect of the old textures: standing next to walls or running through cramped corridors could seem like a grey blob.
