Great idea for base building! I'm going to use your idea for ships to take on the Factorum, jump in with a carrier then use a non-jump heavy hitting ship to take the Factorum out. I love the music during combat!
I'm generally not a fan of Railguns, but if you're skilled at kiting enemies, they can be quite useful. Get a target to pursue you as you move away from them at max speed, while keeping near max weapon range. They become sitting ducks as you're able to disable your dampers and orient your ship, optimizing your firing arc, while their weapons struggle to reach you. It's very "Rocinante versus Pella," if generally somewhat slower and less flashy, but still effective.

The colony ship reminds me of one of them blue ships with the metric tonne of solar panels at the front from WAY back when... so when i saw this it gave me nostalgia from my own roleplaying days back when the game released that desert world... pertam i think it was called? As we used the rusted texture on it and dismantled some of it before we started a roleplay and used it as our home base to try get it spaceborne (we modified it prior to have hydrogen thrusters able to be placed instead of ion thrust) sadly... my roleplaying days are gone and done given life happens... and friends leave... but seeing that colony ship brought back fond memories of a better time...

I'm pretty sure it was a small grid missile with a warhead that hit you. Those things are nasty. You got hit by one and the other missed at 18:16

Once the base is captured, the loot is fixed. However, it would be awesome if it just kept spawning.

Those defensive AI blocks is cheeky. It makes the turrets more responsive to add a little range
They need to take some tips and ideas from Empyrion Galactic Survival. That game is trash as far as its technical aspects, but it's fun to play. Mix the strengths of these two games together and update the lighting & other shared failures and they'd have an absolute beast on their hands
I haven't yet taken the time to explore Empyrion, but it looks like a fun game. I may have to give it a shot and possibly make a new series out of it. :)
I've encountered a Processing Facility, but left it alone. It belonged to a faction I trade with often, and want to stay on good terms with. I also encountered a Trade Runner. It didn't belong to any faction, and identified as neutral, but the interior turret opened fire on me when I approached. I'm in the process of salvaging it right now. I'm not sure if it's going to be able to take off on its own power, since it only has ion thrusters, and they may not be enough to lift the ship inside the atmosphere of Europa.
Maybe throw a large atmo thruster or two on there to provide a boost to get above the atmosphere? It isnt the most elegant method, but can be useful in such situations.
How do you find planetary encounters?
While I do not know the details of the spawn mechanics, in my current post-Contact playthrough I have found them by just exploring and moving around on planets. However, I do know that they have a limited broadcast range which can make them difficult to find in if they spawn in further from the player than that range.
You did much better than I on my first Factorum encounter with that base.
I must admit, luck probably had a hand in the victory. My prior encounters with the Factorum definitely did not go quite as well.
Nicely done. 👍 Factorum Jump Drives are pretty sweet, with (among other benefits) a reduced range penalty for added mass. WONDERFULLY efficient, compared to the standard Jump Drive. I wasn't entirely confident your ship was going to survive that last engagement, but it (mostly) held together like a champ.

I started a new game after the contact up date. I have MEE running in the game. I have been playing the game for over 20 hours and have not seen any of these spawn in my new game. Is this because of MEE?
That I cannot answer, as it is beyond my knowledge. Hopefully someone else will have the answer you seek.
If you place a defence block subgrid, your ship can auto lock to distant targets without engaging autopilot. It's inexpensive, easy to build and really handy if you're rocking a lot of turrets

You might just be able to upgrade the ball turrets to heavier weapons, along with heavier armor to help keep you in the fight longer, and still use the fighter. Also, apparently there is a decent chance you can find prototech parts in those pirate encounters, so check every hideyhole you can find. Either way, i am loving the series and cant wait to see what happens next.

Soloing a Factorum warship plus escorts...? In one, small grid fighter...? You actually did respectably well, considering. Your skill at dodging fire is impressive👍... but you're defending against multiple attackers, plus the occasional volley of homing torpedoes, all of whom hit HARD... and those small grid weapons don't do much more than tickle most of your opponents. Utilizing torpedoes of your own to help even things out can help IMMEASURABLY, allowing strikes against enemy weapon systems from a safe-ish distance. Every weapon you disable is one you don't have to dodge. Just sayin'. YMMV.🥸 NOTE: MK85's "Talos - Vertical Launch System (VLS)" on the Workshop has some great design ideas and utilizes reasonably cheap torpedoes/missiles, so they won't break the bank.

Hey I got one question which planet can you find the abandoned derelict ships on the desert planet but it doesn't ping every time three of the abandoned derelict ships desert planet I'm trying to find the Rover one I can turn it into a spaceship
So far, I have found derelicts on both Mars and Earthlike, but I suspect that they can be found anywhere. It is only a matter of waiting for the game to spawn them.

Are these planet bases rare?
From what I understand, some engineers have had difficulty finding them. I looked for several hours to find nothing, then had several spawn in in the course of an hour. The trick is finding them once they spawn in, as their antennas do not transmit very far.
The first and only one i found so far is the Pirate Stronghold. It surprised that they had the big gun configured to target characters. In the past with the mayday signals, the big guns are set to only target ships IIRC. This was also on Pertam (I believe, I was pretty tired when I started) and happened quite early in the game, spawning less than 6km from my landing spot. Oddly, a game I started on one of the moons (the one near the alien planet) never spawned a single one, so I'm guessing it either has to be a planet or a body over a certain size, as there were plenty of flat areas where something could spawn on that moon. The first vehicle you showed looks an awful lot like one from the Frostbite scenario that you'll find partially buried, exactly the same way (wheels stripped, etc.). Thank you for making this video, as I didn't realize just how nice or elaborate some of these were... definitely worth doing some more exploring.
I am glad you enjoyed the video. The new encounters definitely add a reason to explore the planet surfaces to a greater degree, not to mention the 'free' resources available when captures.
